(CJP) Saurav Das has appealed to the Supreme Court to ensure that members of the proposed independent high-powered panel probing allegations of police excesses during the NEET protest are persons of “unimpeachable integrity” and high calibre.

The Supreme Court has said it will constitute a high-powered committee comprising retired judges, a former DGP, an ex-CBI director and others to examine allegations of police excesses against student protesters.

A man dressed as a giant dog walked into the Khandwa Collectorate in Madhya Pradesh on Monday, turning an otherwise routine public hearing into an unusually vivid protest against the city’s worsening stray dog menace. Behind the viral spectacle were allegations that Rs 40 lakh had been billed for dog sterilisation even as thousands of people continue to report dog bite incidents.
