Hello. I would like to both rant and ask a question to my fellow Americans. Are data centers or ai in any way whatsoever actually making your lives better? I ask this because I work in healthcare insurance (I know.. vomit) and ai and outsourcing are being implemented everywhere and America has gone all in on ai to keep up in the tech race against China who is currently the front runner of ai and has personalized robots right now. American ai is still in its infancy and computers still have technical issues every single day so the technology itself is having issues keeping up and I give it another ten years before Ai is at the place it needs to be without constant issues. Having said this I will say there are certain industries like the pharmaceutical industry that could do with going full Ai and replacing human pill counting. I recognize Ai will most likely take my job one day. I also recognize that Ai consumes more drinking water than is currently available on earth and without desalting the oceans we are on limited time before a drought affects the states.
Being that the working class is already having issues making ends meet and being that minimum wage has still not increased to offset inflation and tariff costs. So I ask you this. Is Claude and chat gpt really worth all of this nonsense when we still can’t even get self driving cars to work efficiently without accident and ai to work without technical errors and fake information given its lack of regulation?
