if you were not impacted by recent inflation & fuel prices, time to stay humble to others & thank the Almighty

just realised; these 4-5ish months due to iran war, petrol crisis, inflation, and whatnot have been some of the hardest times recently for many people around us.

if you are someone whose mauj masti, kharchay, khana peena, kappray jottay, and basic necessities were never compromised when fuel hit as high as 500+ pkr and everything remained NORMAL as it ever was and inflation did bother you, u didnt have to look at your bank balance to make decisions, i think its perfect time to take a moment and thank god literally and in return, maybe try to become 'waseela' for someone, not necessarily monetary related, but through your words, actions, attitude. just had this humbling moment so random today kay things remained normal for me too, but tbh it does not mean kay agar khuda nay mushkil paida nahi ki to mushkil paida kar hee nahi skta. thats why, please be friendly, humble, and try to connect to the God har mushkil, khushi mai and think of others

Avg uni lunch in summers

this is quarter rice, quarter salad and half chicken cheese florentine. paid like 480 for this meal. its summers, classes are quick and fast paced and in the middle of DIN (12-3) – plus taking up some gym/exercise at evening. ik it aint 100% healthy (tho bought from healthy food counter) but its still something that get stomach filled after 3 hours of continuously listening and class participating 😭😭

looking to sell my ps4 and buy xbox series S

hi there! i've this ps4 slim bundle edition (bought myself from one of south east asian countries)

played my heart out on this console, from cyberpunk 2077 to last of us 2 and like 150 games. since ps5 prices are now jumping, i was thinking maybe going for xbox series s cuz i honestly want to play new gen games w/o much worries of graphics.

with ps4, i can give u these games (uncharted 4, last of us 2, horizon zero dawn, rdr 2, god of war, god of war ragnarok, gta 5, cyberpunk 2077, etc) for free. has one original controller, one copy, a box with kratos (GOW), Alloy (Horizon zero dawn), and Nathan Drake (uncharted) pictured on it.

console runs smooth. asking for 53k. also, give me leads on where in lahore can i buy xbox series s for a fair price? anyone selling it would also be great. ps5 to aukat sy bahir hogya meri, but kya krain, gta 6 bhi khelni hai to 😭

Why did Marxist Revolution not happen in Sub-Continent? A little spiel of mine

Hi there! Been reading Edmund Burke, Mahmood Mamdani (yup, Zohran's father), Rosseau, Joesph de Maistre, John Locke, Marx and Engels wagera in Summers for this interesting side course I'm doing. Many countries did not have this Marxist Revolution, but digging deeper, I got to find slightly different reasons why it did not happen in Sub-Continent and I'd love to engage in discourse with yall, maybe you have a different spiel to it! Disclaimer: I'm an Engineering major, not a pol sci major, but out of love for nerdy knowledge, i keep diving deep. Correct me where I'm wrong, open to constructive feedback

As Marx says, for class revolution to take place, there must be highly unequal capital in an industrialized society, degrading working conditions. Later Gramci added there must be HEGEMONY (consent back with coercion). As in, the state's ruling class (the bourgeoise) must dominate in the BASE (economically) in order to dominate the "ideas, cultures, and beliefs (through print capital, media, flags, anthems wagera)" in the SUPERSTRUCTURE like THEY want. This persuades working class (the proletariats) believing into kay it is good for them to keep working and stops them from revolting. This hegemonizing activity instills FALSE CONCIOUSNESS, which fades away if they stop hegemonizing and inevitably leads to Marxist revolution the moment the proletariat REALIZE that it was all MADE UP.

But, this DID NOT HAPPEN IN SUB-CONTINENT. The Brits ruled with DOMINATION and did NOT Hegemonize demographics under some shared cultural identity; something for which people start considering labour as dive duty. Never happened. There was brute was force only. The process of realizing kay we have been under false consciousness and need to revolt, this step was missed and that's why Marxist revolution did not happen here. Here is what happened in Sub-Continent, as Ranjit Guha cites.

[Industrialization (YES) -> Capitalism booms (YES) -> Inequality (YES) -> Hegemony (NO) -> False Consciousness (NO) -> Marxist Revolution (NO)]

Mamdani writes in Citizens and Subjects for why Marxist Revolution never took places in Africa and points out land remained communal property; privatized land is needed to capital boost and industrialization to start. Colonizers appointed tribal chiefs to ensure they can extract resources while restricting industrialization.

friends only appear when they need academic support and ghost me when back home

hi there! im 22. im sick of being friends with fellas who'd only appear in my life when semester is going on, need me for lockin or to help explain them stuff, share notes wagera. as sem ended, i have this friend (lets call A) went hangout with before they could leave back home. happy faces and smiley good bye. friend stayed in contact till grades were pending to come out. the day after our grades were out, friend goes MIA w/o telling. i'm someone who goes space knowing oh theyre with their family back home, let them digitally disconnect and recharge their social battery. been now almost a month and actions do speak louder than words. they were all well connected until there was this mutual reason (semester) to stay connected and once it was over, they chose the path to seemingly over the friendship too. i dropped a fellow-up text 3 days back, still no response and tbh, thats pretty the answer for me. im putting in summer sem, extra one, have workload even in summers, but still manage to grab 10 secs out of my time to reply back to my pending textw instead of ghosting.

another of my friend (lets call B) studies in other country. they were on vaccations january to april. now that their semester started, they also started contacting back. started asking me to also have them on this lucrative tech oriented project im doing ‐ their abudacity to ask after leaving me ghosted for months, probaly during the time i needed them as a friend on my side. i openly refused to help this time around cuz i can now see the "patterns" (me helping during semester and they ghosting on me when they are among lovely/cool fellas back home) and i wanted to break this cycle, atleast with friend B. refused to help and also tried to hold them accountable throwing some light on the past telling how you kept my dms ignored when u were on break and now calling me for help when your uni starts.

since I and friend A study at same place, what "pattern" friend B showed back from january to april is the same pattern friend B is showing from May (supposedly upto september until uni starts) and since i spoke up to friend B (finally), i'm planning also to dump back on friend A when they come back asking to help them with registrations, logictics, semester settlement phase, etc

all it takes is a little push and i think i can now SPEAK/STAND for myself

M22 looking to make friends 😭

hi there! i've recently realised the instiution i'm pursuing degree at, though it is one of the most reputable ones (many have perception of it being for elite class), but i kinda feel its a "bubble" from outside world.

i wanted to get some sort of outside-the-bubble exposure too and break the ice by meeting new people, having actual meaningful convos on maybe books, folklore, life, or in general whatver you find interesting as long as its fun to exchange thoughts.

for myself, i'm 22. pursuing a degree thats pretty maths/physics heavy so dont be surprised if i bring randomly in my convos Schrödinger's wave equations or Laplace Transforms (just kidding). i also love reading world politics, from Gramci to Marxian literature to Neo-Pluralism of Robert Dhal. got pretty diverse taste; i listen to indie-rock, southern belt dark indie, pop, jazz. fav singers: olivia dean, last dinner party, ABBA, imagine dragons, sia, ethel caine, pheobe bridgers. grind through video games as well, loved playing elden ring, last of us 2, ghost of tsushima, rdr 2. hit swimming and gym too

looking forwarding to meeting kind, humble, and respectful fellas here, who are also looking to socialise & are mindful about social boundries too. 😭😭😭

best,

xoxo

i love these random raids (valhalla's territorial raids are better than ghost of tsushima's)

currently on level 20 and onto one of those missions where you need to make alliances for ceolwuf. saw a 250th level terriorty and it was sooo fun raiding it.

i played ghost of tsushima sometime back in 2021 and loved raiding terriorties too. but it sucked cuz jin sakai was all alone and if you stun one enemy, whole castle would be running for your life. even if u take a team with you, theyd abandon jin sakai and run for their lives.

it isnt in valhalla and I LOVE IT. u stun, lets say an enemy of some ground floor of a building, this DOES NOT call bosses coming from basement all the way to fight u and jumble in one play. i've observed the team on raid is pretty taking active hands-on lead with you instead of backing away. raids mechanics are so much insane

i just wish music shouldve been a bit more healing, like the ones they have in witcher. horse rides should have some light instrumental music on long routes; i love witcher 3 and this would make AC valhalla a bit more incredible too!

AC valhalla makes me want to learn more on Norse Mythology

hi there! as the title suggests, i fully got myself amazed into the marvelous world ot VIKINGS – thanks to AC Valhalla fueld back the curiosty I got from God of War Ragnarok.

Now that i'm a beginner, suggest me documentaries, YT videos (preferrably), or as simple as someone would like to hold convos, i'd love to be part of anything that helps me get the most of Norse lore. I dont wanna watch Vikings Tv series on Netflix cuz its very long

reddit.com
u/BudgetBass2 — 21 days ago

i'm loving the LORE

hi there! just started playing off ac valhalla. played witcher 3 in december last year, man oh man, the rpg had me immersed pretty deep into the story. was thinking lately to experience the similar sort of stroy driven, exploration, lore filled with legends kind of stuff, and today got my hands on ac valhalla!

havent played ANY ac games before, so i dont really care if this game does better or worse than what OG ac fans have set a certain bar cuz of playing previous entries. this is my very first experience, but im more interested and satisfied with the fact that it is an rpg focused game with pretty choosy assassins/stealthy vibe. i love stopping at random locations in england for raid, each attack with my axe feels so natural, and it was mind blowing to see how BASIM, a protangonist from Mirage, had such a wild yet impactful entry. loved to see that arab-viking exchange of culture, evior getting to learn the art of assassin tells how civilizations advanced their skillsets. when vikings had limited use of assassin's form of combact, BASIM from arabia, thousands miles away, comes in and teaches this art. thats so cool of synchronization

also, i want to learn more about nordic history, valhalla lore, etc. ik the characters from god of war: freiya, odin, lokin, valhalla, and its good to such overlap. recommed me some YT videos, documentary, or anything that i could consume along with ac valhalla to become very good at this specific nordic lore.

looking forward to making new friends here. happy to be part of this community

my friends have gotten busy, asked them to join jam, even went to the extent of paying em for their premium, but idk they ghosted. thought of trying my luck here, haha
