For context: I'm feeding the neighbor's cat for a few weeks, so its bowl is right outside in front of my door.

The past few days, my neighbor's cat has been especially noisy when eating, more than usual, so I thought maybe it was a hedgehog. I tried to catch it in the act, but in the end, it was some kind of large mouse I glimpsed. (Those creatures are so quick!)

Okay, a bit ironic, but fine, why not.

Except that on Tuesday morning, I found a massacre of pumpkin seeds in my kitchen. Clearly, it had been done by a rodent.

But no other traces.

So I cleaned it up and let it go.

Then last night, as I was going to bed, I noticed that there was hardly any cat food left. "Perfect," I thought, "That'll stop the nighttime noises!"

You can see where this is going: there were nighttime noises. The sound of kibbles. It jolted me awake, I got up to go see...

And again, nothing.

No trace.

But of course, the food bowl was empty.

Just to be sure, I went to check in the kitchen, and there I noticed that a few things had moved...

But no critters.

Disappointed, I considered going back to bed, but not before a quick trip to the bathroom to avoid waking up a second time... And guess who took the opportunity to show their whiskers?!

It was cartoonish, I understand better why people scream when they see rodents in cartoons 🙄... Especially since this one seemed very determined to go somewhere specific... Except there's no way out in my bathroom, except for the door, but that's how it came in, and of course I quickly closed it!

So when I realized there was no trace of it anymore... I was very perplexed.

Until I contorted myself a bit to really look behind the toilets... And saw this 😅...

I have no idea how to repair this, but I guess it's time to learn!
