Odysseus' hold them down

This is a little thing I worked on today in my free time.

Basically I havmd the idea of what if instead of a fully different song fir the slaying of the suitors, Odysseus sung his own version of Hold them down, showing how he heard everything they planned abd letting them realize how dead they are.

A few disclaimers first of all

  1. Im not trying to self promote or anything, just sharing something dumb i made

  2. Im NOT a good song writer. The melody abd tones of the original are carrying

  3. It gets pretty Brutal towards the end, in a different way than the original Hold Them Down.

Finally, in this version, Antinous survives until this song, not dying during the original Hold them down

[ODYSSEUS]

Whoever can string the old king's bow

And shoot through twelve axes cleanly

Will be the new king, sit down at the throne

Penelope as his queen

You've found me.

You've found the man who can string this bow oh whoa.

[Verse 1]

You failed the competition

Its your final hour

None of you could string it

Not one filthy coward

Too weak for the challenge?

No more delay

Can't you see its your last day?

[Chorus]

Thought that you could

Hold them down

As your hearts got colder

Hold them down

Cause hes young in age?

Hold them down

As you dogs got bolder

Now where's the talk of your pride and your rage?

Here and now

Its the time for action

Here and now

You have lost control

Here and now youll be burned to ashes

Hot as the fire that burns your soul

[Verse 2]

Haven't you noticed whats missing?

Your weapons, they cant be found.

I heard your plans so I hid them

Somewhere they'd be all safe and sound

So I say,

you come at me barehanded

I say

You stake it on your lives

Then when you find your pride, try me

Go on ahead, show me your strike

[Chorus]

Ill

Hold them down

Hear your voice start shaking

Hold them down

Scream caught in your throat

Hold them down see if you can win

My wrath, my wits, your flesh, and your bones

Ill

Cut you down

Into tiny pieces

Throw you down

Where all will know

What happens when you reach for the throne.

hes singing to Antinious specificslly now

[Verse 3]

And when the deed is done

Then you will have no one

To stop me from casting you to the floor

Stop me from taking your pride and more

[Chorus]

And then ill

Hold you down

Til your throats ripped open

Hold you down

The blood you'll taste

Hold you down

As your last breath leaves you

I will not let any pain go to waste

Here and now

Its the time for action

Here and now

You've lost control

Hot as the fire that burns your soul

Ill

HOLD YOU DOWN

Hot as the fire that burns your soul!

End

Edit: fixed 2 lines i thought were lackluster

Is this kind of post allowed?

In my free time I took the melody of Hold Them Down and rewrote a version that basically takes the place if the song Odysseus with our titular hero basicslly condemning all the suitors to their deaths.

I only have the lyrics.

Is this something thats okay to post? If not im sorry for any inconvenience

What do you think Evil Ribbit and Evil Kaufmo would have been like?

What is Jax talking about here?

Like, why is he acting like excusing Kinger for messing up is some kind of inconsistency?

I would understand this kind of mentality if they held Jax accountable for any of the stuff he did throughout the series. But its literally the opening scene of episode 8 shows they never do hold jax accountable.

So why is this even a thing? Its consistent that they dont hold things against people, and Jax has benefited from that the most, so why lash out like this?

I understand being upset, hell I love kinger and would probably freak out, but the guy who has been absolved of the most acting like its a sudden thing when no one else wants to yell at kinger doesn't really make sense

[Hated/Funny Trope] that one infamous line

Basically a line thats so awful, whether its written poorly, said by the wrong character, or just something that makes no sense.

  1. "We've all done bad things" said by Pomni in the Amazing Digital Circus to defend Jax, who recently did something he believed would trap everyone in the circus permanently, against everyone else's wishes. The "bad things" the other characters have done are things like Ragatha's false positivity being annoying, Zooble being abrasive towards Caine, or Kinger having digital dementia. Its often memed in the community fir just how stupid and tone deaf it is.

  2. "Somehow Palpatine returned" said by Po Dameron in the Rise Of Skywalker. The line completely lampshades the return of the main villain of the franchise, with no buildup, foreshadowing, or explanation. Just "somehow" its also memed to hell and back.

  3. "Its what Clara would have wanted" said by Soldier boy after he gave Homelander the V1 formula to maje him immortal. Prior to this moment, everything about Soldier boy's character says theres absolutely no way hed ever do this, but because his dead lover, a nazi supe named Clara, would have wanted this for Homelander, he did it. The fans of The Boys have since been using this as basically a meme excuse for every plot hole in the show. Why does x happen when theres no reason? Why does y character act put of character here? Because its what Clara would have wanted

I hate using "you aren't the target audience" to dismiss criticism.

There are several movies/shows to come out that, when asked about my opinion on it, i just say that I didnt like it, and people will look you dead in the eye and say "well, you werent the target audience" as if that means anything. People arent allowed to criticize something unless it was "made for them"

Imagine watching "Birth of a Nation" and saying you hate it, and someone just says "well, you werent the target audience" like????? Its still a horrible thing even if im not who it was made for????

Sorry if this is dramatic, i get dramatic when severely sleep deprived

Question about this scene

In this scene, Charlie has ser pentious and Angel dust role-playing using a script she wrote.

One of the "bad things" that pentious claims to not do is "having sexual intercourse before marriage" implying that Charlie, the one who wrote the script, considers that a bad thing.

Does this imply

  1. She and vaggi secretly got married

  2. She willfully lives in a relationship she considers "sinful"

Bro i might be going crazy

Was it just me or was Abel a drummer at some point? Like I just had this idea in the back of my head that Abel was canonically a drummer, like how Adam played guitar. Im looking around and cant really find anything on it. Did my brain just make up a random "fact" about Abel and I gaslit myself into believing it?

Anyone feel like drawing a superhero?

His name is Brick, and his only power is an indestructible body.

He still has average human strength, speed, etc, but he cannon take damage of any physical type. I can answer any more questions if needed.

I HATE this phrase

It only exists to do one of 2 things.

  1. Absolve people of responsibility for the pain theyve cause because "they only did it because theyve been hurt"

Or

  1. Demonize victims of abuse as ticking time bombs who are eventually going to perpetuate the cycle of abuse.

Plenty of abusive people have no tragic backstory or history of being a victim, and plenty of people who have been hurt choose to be better and end the cycle.

What causes someone to abuse or hurt someone else isn't "past trauma", its not being strong enough to be a good person.

TLDR, hurt people dont hurt people, weak people do

Genuine question for Jax Fans

I dislike jax greatly. He reminds me too much of an abuser I had in my life to ever like him.

But I know of ton of people here love abd relate to him, but my question is what good qualities does jax have?

Like maybe im blinded by my trauma, but what redeemable qualities does jax have? He seems to have none, and is just a rude, sarcastic, spiteful prick, but people love him, so there MUST be something im not seeing.

And im not talking about "hes a deep character" I mean what about his personality makes him a character you want to see? Because all I see is the toxicity.

Im not trying to be facetious or sarcastic with this question. I genuinely would like to understand better
