Visually disabled and trying to figure a living situation out before winter

Wrote out a whole story, but decided to just keep it short. I am low vision/legally blind. Have been my whole life, will be for the rest of my life. Terrifyingly abusive/criminal/trafficking family I have been making attempts to flee from my whole life and had some levels of success but mostly failure since the odds are heavily stacked against me. Last year I went against the years worth of threats from my family and reported the abuse to police. My family has connections and money. The police did nothing. Since then I have been trying to survive an onslaught of retaliation from my family for going to the police. This has left me fleeing for my life.

I cannot drive due to my vision, so I don't even have a car for shelter. I have been heavily controlled my whole life. Only had the bank account that was opened as a joint account and I recently found out was used by my family to funnel money. I was forced to accrue a lot of debt, and that was used to control me. Now that I am fleeing them, the bills have gone unpaid and the bank account is closed. So I have no bank account to be able to pay for anything even if I found some type of income. I cannot open a new one, creditors will just follow me to any new account. I don't get SSI, I think my family used to get my SSI and they might still be. Idk. It's all very sketchy. My phone has been in my mother's name my whole life. I took what little money I had and got my own phone only to have one of my abusers gain access to it and now it's compromised. I don't have money to get a new one. I'm taking a chance with this one. They are still stalking me and harassing me.

I am getting to the point where I am trying to make a decision because last winter I almost froze to death outside in sub zero temperatures. Fall is coming, and I am not trying to freeze outside homeless and fleeing for my life again. What states have good resources for disabled people? I have lived in California before during previous fleeing. I'm not against it, but don't really want to go back. I don't know where to go, honestly. I will be leaving any familiarity I have. This is hard. Please give advice. Thank you

You're supposed to turn to support, right?

When dealing with DV there are so many scenarios where you're supposed to lean on support from loved ones etc. I am referring specifically where there is a situation you have to go to where it might be dangerous. The obvious answer is "don't go alone. Bring someone with you". My question is what are you supposed to do if you don't have any one? What are you supposed to do if the authorities/police aren't helping, and DV advocates are not an option? Does anyone have any advice?

Somebody needs to investigate northern IL APS.

After personal experiences that were incredibly messed up and super shady, and finding other instances of shade, someone needs to investigate them.

Link to being homeless and human trafficking

Since I became homeless a while back, it really seems like all of the shelters or organizations are designed to not actually he l p, put you in situations where you are cut off from friends/others you might be familiar with, put your personal belongings and probably important documents in jeopardy because you're not allowed to keep them with you, transport you to new/unfamiliar/far away areas with the promise of resources only to not get any when you arrive.....like what the actual eff? Am I just imagining it or is this whooollleee section of "resources" just a predatory ring wearing a costume of helpful charity people?

The trauma of losing belongings is getting to me

I am physically disabled and I have been displaced from my home for 7 months now. The majority of my belongings never left my home and I don't have access to them. Because of my disabilities, I cannot bring very many personal belongings with me. Every time I get displaced(relocated, because I have not found stable rehousing yet) I lose more of my personal belongings. I don't have anything I could spare in the first place, and trying to replace essential items I was not able to bring from my home has eaten into the temp income(meager) that I was getting. Even then I have now lost items I paid to replace due to continued displacement. This is really starting to affect me mentally, as is the subsequent disruption in organization of items I do still have. How does everyone else deal with this type of dilemma?

HUD 8.11 info and SRN info

I was just wondering if someone could give me info on these two things, please? I have been facing a lot of corruption and odd behavior to put it lightly and I'm just trying to figure out the accurate information. I am low vision/legally blind disabled, and have been homeless because I am fleeing domestic violence. When it first started happening I was literally fighting for my life as I cannot drive due to my visual impairment and it was the middle of winter. The two DV shelters in my county turned me away. One told me because they were not ADA, had stairs, were rural, and because "you have to be able to take care of yourself" and I guess since it is in a rural area not being able to drive constitutes not being able to care for myself. The other told me not to come there as it would not be a safe place for someone with my disabilities, esp during that time of year/winter. So I had been contacting every possible organization/number trying to find emergency housing so that I would not freeze to death outside.

The case workers I have worked with all gave me conflicting info, consistently, and seemed rather disinterested or just sort of strange overall. One told me when I started working with them that if they do not hear from you for 60 days, they close your case. They also told me that they are limited by county and could not help me outside of the county. If I needed help outside of the county they would have to transfer me to another case worker and cease working with me. Is this true?

They said I was approved for HUD 8.11 supportive housing. So I guess I would like more info on that please as they did not explain the rules of it at all or what exactly it is and what I could expect to experience. They also told me they applied me to the SRN. I kept requesting other types of housing, too, but it seems like my requests were ignored for some reason. I am just trying to make sense of things. It has been well over 60 days and my case worker is still contacting me, almost harassingly, and I am confused as to why they have gone beyond their 60 day policy. They also recently told me that if they close my case, I would be removed from the SRN. Is this true/standard procedure? I can't imagine why they would remove me since it is state wide and the wait times for housing I was quoted in the beginning were mostly 6-12 months and some were longer.

There were a few times where the case worker had given me the contact info of property managers for places that I was told had a unit available. I was told to contact the manager myself. Whenever I did they either didn't have a unit available or told me to fill out an application that was completely outside of the HUD. Like I said, super weird and I was just wondering what the standard experience is supposed to be. Is it normal to be removed from the SRN? That seems like it would defeat the purpose.

Thank you to anyone who can give me any info.

I woke up cuddling with a bat today.

So for the past week or so I have heard something skittering around. We do have mice(old farm) so I thought it was a mouse. Of well, they're cute. Mind you I've been getting random bites and I assumed they were mosquito bites but they reacted differently than mosquito bites usually do.

Today I was half asleep when I noticed my cat wouldn't settle, but was pacing around and very interested in the pillow I was spooning. I kept moving the pillow out of the way to give her room to snuggle up to me, but she wouldn't. Kept pacing around the pillow. Then I heard the squeak. I thought oh my god, is the mouse in the bed with us?! I sat up, and carefully removed the blanket. Didn't see anything. Carefully picked up the pillow I was cuddling. Nothing. I flip the pillow over and boom. There a bat clinging to the pillow. Was probably sandwiched between me and the pillow all night. I have bites on my chest. The bites I have been getting could be bat bites which makes it scarier because the longer you wait the more time the virus has to become symptomatic and once it does you're cooked. I captured the bat and went to the ER. The bat was so freaking cute and I'm a bit of a buddist so it's breaking my heart that it has to die. Everybody in the waiting room at the ER wanted to see the bat in a jar(tm). I then had to have a bunch of injections with big painful needles. But anyway I have to pray the virus hasn't become active in my system and the vaccine moved faster than the virus does. Otherwise I have to make a list of people to involve in the biting spree I will go on. Send me the names of your grrrrr ape ists, abusers, other jerks etc and I'll go bite them for you. Lol jk. Sort of. Wish me luck girlie pops. Ps lemme know if you wanna see bat baby, he's actually so cute.

UPDATES:

I did go to the ER and I started the series of vaccines. You can see my hopital jewelry.

Before I hopital the first thing I did was call my vet. Cat got vax in Feb, vet said she's all clear.

Animal control took poor cutie baby tiddy bat this morning. Said I should have test results by tomorrow.

The bat had to die because unfortunately the right thing to do isn't always peace and love. There are a lot of bats and wildlife in this area, as well as pets and children. It would have been extremely irresponsible to let the bat go as it would possibly put all other listed parties at risk. If I let it go and it was the start of or first indicator of a local rabies outbreak, it would be on my shoulders if someone's child got bit and dies of rabies. Sometimes you have to think outside of your wants and feelings and put them aside for the greater good.

Going through a breakup and lost everything. I need everyone to talk to me because the loneliness is crushing me

I wake up every day alone. He took my house, it seems like most of my friends, he is holding all of my personal belongings and won't give them back to me. His buddies are the police so they won't help me.

I feel like I have been robbed of anything that gave me purpose or a sense of self in my life. Like I said, I wake up every day alone. No one to really talk to. No one to hangout with, do stuff with, get my mind off of things. I moved states and lost a lot of my friends over COVID, and most of our friends here were his friends. Idk how to make friends at this age. It seems like most people are married, have children, work full time or a combo of those things so they're too busy to hangout. Even if I did want to do things or find someone to do stuff with etc, I don't have any of my clothing so I cannot dress up to go out etc. I don't have any of my personal grooming items.

I guess I just feel robbed of my humanity and it is so crushingly lonely. I just need people to talk to. I want to hear your suggestions on what to do? How do I recover from this?

My adjudicator put me in danger

I had sent my SSI adjudicator a statement on a form that I did not consent to a certain person/law group representing me because I was forced to speak with them under duress by my abuser, and that my abuser forced me to list them as the emergency contact and giving them any of my info would put me at great risk of harm. I then received a letter stating that my adjudicator got my statement to let that exact person/firm represent me and that notice was sent to them about my case as well. Why would my adjudicator intentionally put me in danger this way?!? I'm terrified.
