Had my first Diabetes Prevention group session (UK)
Was diagnosed in June with Prediabetes and was referred by my GP to this Diabetes Prevention course. First session today. There was about 25 of us and it was interesting to hear people’s background and story. I liked listening to what others have done and what works for them.
I’ve already started doing things when I found out like walking etc and have lost 15 kg but feel this will be a good reinforcement for me in the upcoming year to continue as the sessions will be up to next year June. Has anyone attended these?
They gave us a journal with some info as well in it. 🙂 I encourage everyone diagnosed to attend this. Doesn’t make you feel so alone.
My goal to reverse my prediabetes (2 month progress)
Just posting to encourage someone like me. This is my second month progress. Hopefully I can motivate someone to start and take control of their health.
Just to recap, 2 months ago I was at my highest weight 122 kg (BMI 35.6), Obesity category 2. I knew I needed to start doing something after I got the result that I have prediabetes and fatty liver. So I started to walk and count my calories and stop drinking alcohol. I also do some fasting.
Last month I lost 10kg from 122 to 111.9 kg. Now I’ve lost another 3.7 kg and my current weight is 108.3 kg bringing my total weight loss to 13.7 kg or 30 lbs of weight lost! I’m now Obese category 1.
Honestly don't feel like there is much difference in the first month even though I lost 10 kg on my first month. This time I do feel like I’m starting to see a difference in the mirror. Also my T shirts feel a bit more loose.
I am now 108.3 kg (BMI- 31.5) and still have a long way to go but happy with my progress. I always remind myself progress is progress and I didn’t get this size in a few months.
I have now started strength training, not very consistent but try to do 2-3 x a week. I do some fasting every week. For the month of August I have been having an average of 20k steps a day.
Ps. Also 2 month sober ( have alcohol free bevs when I craved).
Will post and update on my 3rd month progress. Hope to lose another 4 kg and reach 104kg :)
