Buying a used phone just to trade it in for an upgrade?

Hi guys I am eligible for an upgrade but my current phone has a cracked screen and T-Mobile wants to give me a $40 credit for it. I see in the current promotion that i can trade in another device instead and get a larger credit. For example, a $300 credit for a Pixel 6. I see I can buy a used Pixel 6 off eBay for around $100. Is it feasible to just buy a phone off of eBay/Swappa and use that to trade in to get the $300 credit? In that instance it would net me $200. Has anyone done this before? Is there any catch/danger in doing so?

Are these tiles self-spacing or not?

I'm about to tile a backsplash and I'm confused about the tiles I bought.

I bought these subway tiles from HD (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Daltile-Restore-3-in-x-6-in-Ceramic-Bevel-Bright-White-Subway-Tile-10-sq-ft-case-RE1536MODBHD1P4/302575220).

Here are pictures: https://imgur.com/a/OMlB3kP

I'm confused about whether these tiles are actually self spacing or whether I need a spacer between each? Seems like the gap for grout wouldn't be very deep if I put these next to each other?

Drywall patch prep for tile?

https://imgur.com/a/cRh2YdN

I'm going to tile a backsplash in my kitchen. I had to make several repairs to the drywall after doing some wiring beforehand. I had a lot of problems with the patches because it was my first time and I was dealing with some weird drywall transitions and damage in hard to manage places. Long story short i have the patches in now and I'm looking to smooth out the patches so I don't get lippage with my tiles. The patches in the picture are around the light switch by my sink.

I'm reading I should use hot mud for this because standard drywall joint compound could re-moisten when it comes into contact with tile mortar. My plan was to use fiberglass tape and hot mortar. Is this the right path? Or should I just fill the cracks with thinset mortar?

Low voltage strip light wiring advice

https://imgur.com/a/cG634na

I'm planning out lighting for this wet bar I'm installing. Wanted to get a gut check from some of you. My plan is to wire an under cabinet 120v light from switch A (easy).

With switch B I was thinking about doing LED strip lighting. I've never done the strip lights before so I know there are a few different approaches to take.

  1. Should I get a driver & dimmer switch combo, or a standard dimmer switch and a separate driver? If I get a separate driver, where should I put it?

  2. If I get a separate driver, do I need to install an outlet somewhere to plug it in? Or are they OK to hardwire?

  3. Will strip lighting be OK up inside the glass cabinet or should I look at puck lighting instead?

  4. Any brands you recommend for the driver and LED strip lights? Don't need any smart home features.

Do I need to do anything else to this drywall patch if I'm tiling over it?

https://imgur.com/6OLb7NN

I had to patch this drywall with a 6x6 piece patch. I plan to tile over this wall. Do I need to do anything else with the patch? Tape or mud? Or is this sufficient?

Is there really no hardwired under cabinet lighting solution that doesn't require an outlet?

Almost every tutorial out there shows lights where a driver is plugged into an outlet. This is easy for most setups as most people have an outlet in their cabinet for a microwave. I am putting lighting in a wet bar with no microwave cabinet. I already have a extra switch I could use but I would prefer not having to add an outlet somewhere on the wall. The only real alternative I've seen is switches with integrated drivers that output 12/24v. Those are very expensive. Are there any other solutions to hard wiring under cabinet lighting?

CBD gummies safe dose for sleep

I'm a pretty healthy middle-aged person but ever since I can remember I have had awful quality sleep. I don't have sleep apnea. I wake up 4-5x per night and never feel refreshed in the morning. I've tried taking broad spectrum and full spectrum CBD gummies from Canna River. Each is 50MG CBD, 25MG CBN, 25MB CBG. The THC ones have 3 MG THC. The THC ones gave me wild crazy dreams and very light sleep. Did not enjoy at all. The broad spectrum non-THC I've taken for a few months but they don't seem to do anything. I've been taking 1, 1.5 or 2 per night. Is it OK to go up to 3 per night? Or should I try something else to facilitate sleep? My problem is not falling asleep, that happens right away. My big problem is staying asleep.

EDIT - I am taking the Canna River calm gummies rather than the sleep ones because the calm ones have CBG in them and I heard that CBG helps with sleep. The sleep ones at CR don't have CBG.

EDIT 2 - As was pointed out, the gummies are only 3 MG THC.

Owners of older homes - how would you handle this situation (attic vent pipe insulation)?

1950's single family 1-story house. Unfinished attic. House in the Midwest where it gets very hot and very cold. The kitchen has a vent pipe for an over-the-range hood. The vent pipe looks to be original to the house since it was made with old school sheet metal and nothing in the kitchen has been updated in a long time. I wanted to replace the vent hood with an over-the-range microwave and blower fan combo but I couldn't find one that lined up with where the vent pipe is. The pipe is shifted over about 6 inches to the left of where modern microwaves vent.

Contractor 1 comes and says the vent pipe is not insulated in the attic and needs to be insulated if we want to use it. He is correct according to my state mechanical code that vent pipes passing through attics need to be insulated. If we don't insulate the pipe, he says, it could lead to condensation forming in and around the pipe, which would eventually lead to moisture build up in the microwave fan and potential mold and eventually will rust out the microwave. Total cost to insulate the pipe and bring up to code and properly connect to microwave is $1,300.

Contractor 2 comes and says for $250 he will make a sheet metal adapter piece and connect to the existing vent pipe and it will take him about 30 minutes. Says moisture is always a concern but almost every house built in my neighborhood does not have insulated vent pipes and peoples' microwaves aren't rusting out.

Which option do you pick?

Tivoli Model One volume sensitivity/calibration?

I picked up a used Model One on FB Marketplace and it appears to work pretty well but the one issue I'm having is how sensitive the volume knob is. I have it sitting on my desk and I have the volume turned up only a few millimeters and its plenty loud. Even from a distance I could never see needing to turn the volume up to more than 25%. Is there some way to re-calibrate the knob?

Can I connect a p-trap directly to a basket strainer?

Long story short I am installing a new sink and did not realize how high on the wall the drain stub was. If I could connect the p-trap kit directly to the basket strainer I would be able to get the sink to drain properly. I cannot seem to find any p-traps the connect directly to the strainer. Is there a specific piece I would need to do this?

Can I get rid of this white gasket if I'm using plumber's putty?

This is the basket strainer that came with my new sink. If I plan to use plumber's putty do I need to install the white gasket? Then the blue gasket goes on the underside of the sink?

Cleaning paint overspray off pvc drain stub

I'm putting in a wet bar in my basement. The pvc drain stub is absolutely coated in thick glossy gray paint that was sprayed on the wall incredibly thick. What is the best way to clean this paint off the pvc so I can put a p trap adapter on with pvc cement?

I bought a house where the previous owner had roughed in plumbing for a wet bar. I was able to install sharkbites on the hot and cold water lines. I checked and confirmed that the drain properly connected and I'm now at the point where I'm ready to install the countertop and sink and plumb the drain. Can someone help me understand what I'm looking at for the drain here? Is this the drain stub or is it just a piece of PVC coming out of the wall? Do I need some kind of adapter to adapt this down to the size needed by a p trap kit? Should I cut this stub piece shorter so it's closer to the wall?

Also I tried unscrewing the wing nut to see if the cap piece would come off, but there is so much paint overspray that I am worried if I unscrew it, it won't screw back on and then I will be stuck with sewer gas leak and no way to put the cap back on. I had to use a very large wrench to even turn it a few turns, and it is not loosening up. My guess is it hasn't been turned in 15-20 yrs. Any advice?

On Bing Android app when I click "redeem" it just takes me to a page to spend points on sweepstakes entries. There is nothing about how to redeem. Am I missing something?
