How is roster turnover affecting teams still alive in the second round?

A lot of teams that made it to the second round have had significant roster changes throughout the season due to call-ups, injuries, and trades. Some have managed to stay cohesive despite all the movement, like how the Kansas City Mavericks or Florida Everblades seamlessly integrated late-season assignments to dominant playoff positions, while others are clearly still trying to find their identity. It’s impressive when a team can keep rolling through that kind of turnover, but it also shows how fragile playoff runs can be when AHL depth charts shift. Which team do you think has handled roster turnover the best so far in the playoffs?

Did old-school wrestlers master the art of presence in a way we rarely see today?

Man, watching old Mid-Atlantic or WCCW clips lately has me thinking about this a lot. Guys like Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, or territory legends like Wahoo McDaniel just had this aura the second they hit the screen. The way they carried themselves, the promos that completely real, and their distinct ring psychology.

Compare that to today, it's all athleticism and flips, but does anyone project quite like a prime Harley Race or a brooding Kerry Von Erich? What do you guys think made that old-school presence so magnetic and who are your best examples of guys who had "it" without needing a million high spots?

TJPW wrestlers who deserve more spotlight

TJPW has such a deep roster these days that some really talented wrestlers end up flying under the radar. With Yuki Arai as Princess of Princess Champion and a new era feeling like it’s taking shape, it feels like a good time to give more opportunities to some fresh faces. Mifu Ashida has been putting in strong work with her hard-hitting style and feels ready for a bigger singles push. The younger generation, like Toga and Haru Kazashiro, is also showing a lot of promise. Even veterans like Yuki Kamifuku consistently deliver but rarely get the main event spotlight they’ve earned over the years. Which TJPW wrestlers do you think deserve radar more spotlight right now?

How is the new 32-team national seeding format affecting strategy and scheduling?

The NCAA’s decision to nationally seed 32 teams this year, up from the usual 16, is already changing how teams approach the postseason. Coaches now have to navigate much more balanced pods of four, which is forcing smarter decisions around pitching rotations and rest.

While the super regional is still best-of-three, the path to get there feels more demanding. Some programs might appreciate the clearer roadmap that rewards regular-season consistency, while others feel the extra travel and tougher regional matchups are adding significant stress on their staffs. How do you think this shift to 32 national seeds is impacting strategy this year?

What did you think of the Women's Water Polo World Cup in Rotterdam?

The Women's Water Polo World Cup Division 1 just wrapped up in Rotterdam, and it delivered some strong, competitive performances. Spain looked very sharp as one of the top favorites, the USA showed good form with their younger core, and teams like Hungary and Japan had moments where they really pushed the pace.

It was a solid early look at the rosters heading into the Super Final in Sydney this July. The condensed schedule and high level of play made it clear how much physical and mental toughness these teams need. What stood out to you most from the tournament? Any players or teams that caught your eye?

Are the foreign talent in AAA and CMLL being used well?

AAA and CMLL have both brought in quite a few international wrestlers in recent years. Some have been given real storylines and meaningful matches, while others seem to be there mostly for the spectacle or a quick boost in attendance.

It’s always interesting to see how they integrate extranjero talent into the lucha style. Some adapt beautifully to the pacing and the mats, while others feel a bit out of place.

How do you feel about the current use of foreign talent in AAA and CMLL?

Wrestlers who were much better as heels than as babyfaces

Some wrestlers completely changed when they turned heel. As babyfaces, they sometimes struggled to connect with the crowd, but once they started breaking the rules and showing their true colors, they became way more interesting and compelling.

It was like their natural personality finally had room to breathe. Classic examples include Larry Zbyszko turning on Bruno Sammartino, Rick Martel after leaving Strike Force, and "Stunning" Steve Austin during his early heel runs.

The switch made them feel authentic and dangerous in a way their babyface versions never quite did. Who are some wrestlers you thought were significantly better as heels than as babyfaces?

Some NFL rivalries just hit different. Steelers vs Raiders in the 70s felt like actual warfare. Cowboys vs 49ers in the 90s was a clash of dynasties and styles. Then you had the grinders: Raiders vs pretty much everyone, the century-old Bears vs Packers battle, and the Dolphins vs Jets duels in the 80s and 90s.

These matchups had real physicality and cultural weight behind them. What’s your favorite all-time NFL rivalry and what specific game or moment made it feel so intense for you?

Some ECW matches were so good they still hold up decades later. Whether it’s the legendary matches from Barely Legal, Heat Wave, or just random TV tapings that turned into all-out wars, there are so many gems.

From Sabu vs. Terry Funk to the technical masterpieces like Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko, ECW had a way of making violence feel artistic. They were doing TLC-style matches before TLC existed.

What are some of your favorite all-time ECW matches?

Futsal has produced some absolute legends over the decades. Ricardinho’s vision and technique, Falcão’s goal-scoring brilliance, and the incredible consistency of players like Manoel Tobias and Schumacher are still talked about with awe.

Even in the current generation, we’ve seen incredible talents like Amandinha, who has dominated the women's game for years, setting a bar that few can reach. But the all-time greats set an incredibly high standard across the board.

Who are your top 3 or 5 greatest futsal players ever?

After losing several key players from last year’s NCAA Regional team and playing a tough non-conference schedule, Cal Poly currently sits at the top of the Big West standings.

Alejandro Garza has been a big offensive contributor, and the pitching staff has been surprisingly steady for such a young roster. Coach Larry Lee’s team has shown real consistency, playing hard no matter the opponent.

It’s been an impressive turnaround so far. If they keep this momentum, the Big West baseball tournament at Anteater Ballpark could get very interesting. What are your thoughts on Cal Poly’s season so far?

We’re a few months into the 2026 Beach Pro Tour and the rankings are starting to take shape. While the usual suspects like Mol/Sørum and Ana Patricia/Duda are still dominating near the top, a few pairs have really stepped up and surprised people with their consistency and results.

Kelly Cheng and Megan Kraft have found their rhythm impressively fast as a new partnership. Taylor Crabb and Andy Benesh are already looking dangerous for the veterans, and I’ve been particularly impressed with the rapid rise of Sweden’s Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson.

Which breakout pair or team has caught your eye the most so far?

The bottom of the table is as chaotic as ever this season. Bari, Virtus Entella, Mantova, and Spezia are all still very much involved in the fight to avoid relegation.

Some teams, like Reggiana, have been inconsistent all year and have recently slid into the penultimate spot, while others have shown moments of quality but lack stability. With so little separating them, it feels like anything can happen in the final weeks. Which teams do you think are most likely to go down?

The Knockouts division has always been one of TNA’s biggest strengths, but right now it feels like it’s in a bit of a transition period. We’ve got some established names still delivering, while newer talent is starting to get more opportunities.

Indi Hartwell’s return and the whole Arianna Grace situation have added some fresh tension, but the division could use a few more consistent feuds and stronger midcard presence. It still has the potential to be one of the best women’s divisions in wrestling.

How are you feeling about the Knockouts division lately?

The longer league phase has really tested squad depth like never before this season. Now that we’re in the semi-finals, it’s becoming clear that the teams who managed their rotations well earlier in the year are the ones still standing strong.

Injuries and fatigue are starting to bite, especially after those intense first-leg matches this week. With PSG, Bayern, Arsenal, and Atlético left, the team with the best bench could end up going the furthest.

Who do you think has the strongest squad depth to go all the way?

There are so many matches that never happened simply because of how the territories were split up. Imagine seeing Ric Flair vs. Bruiser Brody in his absolute prime, or Harley Race vs. Terry Funk for the NWA title when both were at their peak. Even a young Sting vs. Magnum T.A. in a different promotion would have been a massive spectacle.

If you could magically make one dream match from the 70s or 80s happen, which one would it be?

Endrick arrived in Madrid with a €60m price tag and immediate impact, scoring on both his La Liga and Champions League debuts, only to be sent to Lyon in January after barely getting a look under Xabi Alonso. Since then, he’s been on fire in France, racking up 7 goals and 7 assists, including a record-breaking hat-trick against Metz.

Now, his agent confirms he’s returning to the Bernabéu this summer, just as Arsenal starts circling. Madrid shipped off a 19-year-old who was clearly ready to contribute, suffered through a turbulent season without him, and now has to figure out how to integrate him under yet another new manager. It’s a baffling bit of business.

Was loaning Endrick the right move for his growth, or did it cost Madrid their season?

Everyone pretty much penciled Kitchener in for that series win: 101 points and a Midwest Division title usually makes you the favorite. But the Greyhounds weren't a typical lower seed. They peaked at the perfect time and made things genuinely uncomfortable at the GFL Memorial Gardens for a stretch. Kitchener closing them out in five was professional and clean.

Now we get the heavyweight fight everyone wanted: Kitchener vs. Windsor in the Western Conference Final. The Spits are coming in on fire after sweeping Guelph, and they’ve got that 97-point regular season resume to back it up.

Game 1 at The Aud is going to be absolute chaos. You’ve got 101 points vs. 97 points and arguably the two deepest rosters left in the OHL. If this series doesn't go the full seven games, I’ll be shocked.

The numbers are staggering. Further Ado didn't just win the Blue Grass; he vaporized the field by 11 lengths. Now he draws post 18, the same spot Country House used to stay out of the wash in 2019.

The pace is the real puzzle here. With Six Speed and Chip Honcho expected to gun it early, those opening fractions are going to be blistering. Further Ado has elite tactical speed, but Irad Ortiz Jr. has to be careful not to get sucked into a destructive pace.

Post 18 gives him the clean air to make a move, but whether he can survive a hot pace and still have legs for the stretch is the $5 million question.
