Double wink and stare
Another red eft from Barrington. They were out in force Thursday after a brief morning rain.

I'll have this up today for as long as I can. Sorry in advance for focusing issues.https://www.youtube.com/live/B65T84gwkF0?si=gRgc-kCEabgm2hyk
I set up another wild caterpillar feeding live cam. Sorry in advance for any issues with it. I'll keep it up today for an hour or two, if possible.
This gray treefrog has been living in my rain barrel overflow hose since spring. Today it's out sunbathing. Don't expect much action, but if you enjoy watching frogs sit around, you're in the right place.
Came across this red eft while checking out some nearby mushrooms in one of SELTs newer conservation areas. Thanks to SELT and the generosity of the family that conserved the land and allows public access!
Found these yesterday in a mixed hardwood forest close to a dry stream bed.
I broke a rib when cutting and prepping these logs. They're finally making up for it.
Logs are oak and are in New Hampshire. I don't do anything special to them after plugging them, but they seem happy.
Green ones are Fin de bagnol
Purple ones are Royalty purple
There are a couple of wood frogs that have been hanging around the yard this summer. It's amazing how well they blend in. I almost never notice them until they jump out from almost under foot.
This green frog was chilling on the rock on a beautiful July day last weekend. July 25, 2026
This little fella was in the woods of Farmington today. I saw it on my way to pick more low bush blueberries.
My favorite vaccinium, the low bush blueberry. My state fish and game department conducts controlled burns on this mountain every so often to revitalize the low bush blueberry plants and improve habitat for birds and other wild creatures. They did a particularly good job on the last burn.
I found four in southeast New Hampshire. First time finding them. I also found some oysters and a handful of chanterelles.
Despite the lack of any significant rain in a while there were a surprising number of mushrooms out there. Lots of different colors, textures, and smells.
Found these today in southeast NH, even in the moderate drought we're still in. The chanterelles were big by New Hampshire standards, the oysters were starting to dry out, but not too buggy, and the lobster was scarce, but there.
Pretty sure that this is a juvenile northern two-lined salamander I spotted in the stream this afternoon. If you look closely you can see that it still has its external gills. There were four or five hanging out in the same little pool.
Found in southeast New Hampshire growing from the ground in mixed hardwood forest. I'm fairly experienced, but haven't found lobster previously. Is this ready to pick or should I wait a little?
If you can handle the heat and have the patience to pick the small berries it's definitely worth it. NH fish and game did a good job on their last controlled burns on Little Blue Job and the weather was pretty good this spring too. Added bonus: good views and relatively short hike.
