Portsmouth’s Championship rivals close in on new boss as managerial market takes fresh twist

Portsmouth’s Championship rivals close in on new boss as managerial market takes fresh twist

It’s a massive reality check for us as Pompey fans. We’ve spent years fighting to get back to the Championship, and while we’re all buzzing about our squad stability under John Mousinho, our rivals have got the financial pull to throw offers at elite European coaches like it’s nothing. It shows we can't afford to be naive. The sheer spending power and desperation at clubs like Watford means every single weekend next year is going to be a proper tactical battle against guys with massive CVs.

Is it realistic to do the trek without booking everything in advance?

I’ve been looking into doing the West Highland Way and I’m a bit unsure how strict you actually need to be with planning. Part of me likes the idea of just turning up and figuring things out as I go, but I don’t know if that’s realistic with accommodation along the route or if everything gets fully booked in advance. Do people tend to book it all beforehand or is there still flexibility to do it more on the fly?

What is the Portsmouth FC moment that made you fall in love with this club and realise you were never getting out?

Every Pompey fan has one. The game, the goal, the season, the moment in the stands where something clicked and you knew this was yours for life. What was yours and how old were you when it happened?

Why this plan? This whole area is like a hidden bit of countryside in the middle of the city, and it is already amazing.

I would focus on cleaning the burn and getting it back up to standard rather than changing it.

How much should people realistically budget for unexpected electrical work nowadays?

It feels like electrical issues are one of those things where costs can escalate quickly once problems are uncovered.

Does anyone else feel broadband reliability matters more than raw speed now?

I’d honestly take slightly slower broadband that stays stable over huge advertised speeds with random outages. Do you feel the same or still prioritise maximum speed above everything else?

No matter how many times I walk these paths, I never get tired of them!

What’s the most common place asbestos still turns up?

I know it was used in a lot of older construction, but I’m curious which areas of a house people most often find it in now during surveys or refurb work. Seems like ceilings and insulation come up a lot but not sure what else is typical.

What’s your favourite non-music memory from Reading Festival?

My favourite Reading Festival memory is honestly the reason I’m married now. Back in 2022 I randomly got chatting to a guy while wandering between sets because we were both completely lost trying to find our friends. We ended up spending basically the whole weekend together after that. It started as one of those festival conversations you assume will end once everyone goes home, but somehow it never did. Fast forward a bit and we got married in 2024, and today is actually our second wedding anniversary. I’m also currently expecting our first child, which still feels surreal to say out loud sometimes. Genuinely, the best thing that’s ever happened to me came from getting lost at Reading Festival. We still go every year now and I don’t think either of us could ever miss it after that. Is there a special memory stuck with you aswell?

Love the cobbled or setts, and the whole atmosphere of Shambles is just magical, really brings out the history and charm of the place! 🌺

I massively underestimated how relaxing building LEGO after work would be

Thought it would just be a nostalgia thing at first but there’s something weirdly satisfying about putting a set together while completely switching your brain off for a couple of hours.
