ULPT Request: what to tell my employer to get one week day off per week.

Here is the situation. I am in debt, roughly 5 months of my current income worth of debt. Part of it is from me being stupid, part of it is from me not working while recovering from a surgery.

I am working Monday to Friday at a demolition job, and I should get a weekend only job shortly, I am applying like crazy for it (with tailored resumes).

Once I get the weekend job, I need one day off per week to practice welding. I can practice welding for free including all consumables (long story) but I can only do it during regular weekday business hours, so I need a day off from my demolition job. Once I'm good enough at welding, I can get a new job with a 3 or 4 dollar per hour raise, and I can continue practicing to work towards even better pay.

The issue is: I cannot tell my current work "I need one day off per week so that I can practice welding" as that will let them know I'll be quitting in a month or two.

What is a lie I can tell them to get one day off per week?

I want to keep bees

I want to keep bees. Any idea how I could do that?

The way I see it, I either buy my own land (I don't have the money) or I enter in some agreement with a landowner to allow me access to their land in order to keep my bees there.

I got called in to do a job at roughly 8:15am, with a start time of 8am. I've got a "late" on my record

At 8:15am they asked me if I wanted to be dispatched to a job site, I got there at roughly 8:45am, the app we use to record hours shows me as "late" because I didn't show up at 8am, I wasn't even dispatched until 8:15.

If I ask my company to fix the record, they're going to say: "Don't worry about it, nobody really check that anyways." The real answer is "we don't know how to do that tech stuff, and we've got way too much on our plate to invest the time to figure out."

If I want a raise in the future, this will be seen by the deciding person and would slightly influence their decision.

How's the job market for apprentice welders here?

I've got a place to practice welding in town. I'm considering spending a few months improving my skills, then searching for a 1st year welding job. I like this city, I wouldn't mind staying here long term.

I'm considering signing a 12 month lease. The issue is that if it turns out the welding market sucks here, that would be a obstacle to me moving to Grande Prairie or Fort Mac for work.

How's the market for welding apprentices? Is it half decent? Is there any seasonality to it?

How can I browse 1 bedroom apartments on facebook?

I'm looking at the filters, all they have is a 1 room or more filter, they don't have a filter that filters to just 1 room aparments, not that I can find.

I'm looking for a place without roommates, any suggestions on how to do that?

Random guy spray me with water on a bus

I sat down on the bus at the back, two seats away from a stranger. After a while, he gets my attention and says something to me in a language I don't understand (I doubt I would've understood even if he spoke English, he wasn't talking clearly). I answered back in English, I suspect he doesn't understand English.

Then I see him spread salt onto the ground. After a while, he sneaks a look at me then aims a spray botten upwards so that we both get hit by the water. I suspect he hit me with it on purpose, but he might've only been trying to spray himself and got me by mistake.

I told him that he sprayed me with the bottle, he answers back in a language I don't understand.

A while later while I was leaving, I saw him spraying himself with the bottle. I figure it's just water he uses to cool off, hope so.

And, my car is out of the shop now so I can drive instead of taking the bus. I remember seeing somebody lit up their pipe on the bus once, It's ridiculous the level of neglect the city gives the fent heads.

Company does not pay overtime

The company I just got hired on for does not pay overtime. They "bank" the hours and pay out if you ever want time off. They do this to avoid paying time and a half.

I found a job quick, did I just get lucky?

I just moved back to Edmonton. Within 3 days of looking, I had two job interviews one of which worked out. I found it pretty easy to find a job. It was a demolition job, and I have a bit of experience already.

Is the market fucked but I just got lucky or is it half decent to find a job right now?

2002 highlander. If you replace one rear wheel bearing, do you have to do them both?

Mechanic told me if one side is bad, you have to do both sides. Is that true?

2002 highlander. Back passenger wheel makes a grinding sound as it turns

I'm trying to figure out how long I can push this for, I'm broke as fuck. The sound is quiet loud already, I can hear with with no windows up. If I can forget about it for a whole year, that's no problem. If my wheel will fall off sometime next month, that's something I have to address.

Any ideas how I can figure out what this is?

Edit:

Title is confusing. What I meant to say was: "Back passenger wheel makes a grinding sound as the wheel spins."

My shower only sends hot water. Is this a common issue?

I'm baffled by this, I've never heard of a problem like this before.

The shower only sends hot water, regardless of the position I put the water handle. Yesterday, it was working fine, and cold water is flowing elsewhere in the house.

Is this a problem with the water handle? (idk the proper word for it)

I'm not really asking for a fix here, I'm calling the landlord to figure this out, I'm just wondering if this is a common issue and what could be causing the failure

Is there any evening/weeking job that's in demand? I'd need flexible hours

I work demolition as my main gig. But, I'm 10k in debt from being stupid and I'm looking at getting a part time job to unfuck myself.

The only kicker is I'd need hours that wouldn't conflict with my main gig. Do you think I could find work like that?

Is security work in demand. I could imagine doing weekend security at a mall if It's reasonable to try to swing that.

I got a demolition job, these are required questions during the online onboarding

I've never been asked things like this after being hired, they seem like they should be a HR pre-hiring thing.

What are some quirks that people don't know about me? All I can think of is "I like drinking vinegar sometimes" but I'm not going to write that.

Having provincial car insurance would be nice

Both BC and Saskatchewan have provincial insurance. That means, instead of a bunch of private companies selling insurance, there's just one insurance company, it's a crown corporation owned/ran by the province.

Insurance is much cheaper in BC/Saskatchewan then it is in Alberta.

Verbal agreement to end lease.

In late May, I got a verbal agreement with my landlord to end my lease early (end of june instead of end of july). I also asked if I could use the deposit to cover june's rent, he said he's get back to me in regards to using the deposit for june's rent.

I didn't pay June's rent on the 1st.

On the 3rd, we had another verbal conversation, he said he wanted June's rent and we could use the deposit for July's rent. I said literally nothing. I wasn't in the mood to debate.

Now, he's trying to pressure me legally.

I managed to get him agreement via text that he said "alright" to me moving out a month early. He claims he wasn't giving me permission to end the lease when he agree I could leave early.

I -tried- to get him to admit via text that he took a few days to decide if I could use the deposit for June's rent. I figure if I have proof that he was debating allowing me to use the deposit for June, that would proof he was of the mindset of "agreeing to end the lease early." He went radio silent, I think he figured I was trying to get written proof.

He says he'd give me a notice to vacate on the 15th. What happens legally? I'm not sure if I want to say until the 30th, or leave before then, It depends on my work.

All I got for proof is him agreeing he said "alright" to me leaving early.

Can I become on the hook for July's rent?

What is an illegal deportation?

What is an illegal deportation?

All deportations are legal deportations. It's the government doing the deporting. The government writes deportation rules, then carries out those rules. I suppose, sometimes their actions can go against the letter of the law; that is a fluke of the system and is sorted out in court.

Mod want us to clarify that we don't want illegal deportations? What is an illegal deportation? Is this it: "The police should disregard immigration laws and deport based on racism."

Unclear comments will be given the least-charitable interpretation possible? That is the norm on reddit. Regardless, I won't be lifting a finger to stop others from jumping to conclusions.

Is there any place in town I can rent a phone or camera for less than an hour?

Is there a library that rents these things? The Camera would have to be a USB plug-in for my computer.

I'm trying to be a driver for instacart because I'm broke as fuck. Their app wont verify my identity if I take a photo of my id with my phone, with my computer, or upload a photo of my ID (too blurry).

Instacart customer support won't lift a finger for me due to "security reasons."

I'd just need either a phone or a USB camera I can plug into my computer; and I'd need these things not to be blurry.

Can I buy one and return it when I'm done with it? I've never done that before, but, like I said, I'm broke as fuck.
