What do you do when you really want to make a track in a subgenre but can’t connect with anything you make of it?

I really want to make brostep. Like I really really want to be able to play a song of it and be like man I made that, but I can’t seem to get my head around it. Nothing clicks for me. I’ve made 1 track with a really nice intro but the drop comes and i lose the momentum. I’ll watch a video of an artist playing live, get all inspired, start the track and just end up flat lining. I’m okay at finishing 140 and Riddim but as soon as I try brostep I can’t get it to work. Should I just leave it and do what I can connect with easily or keep pushing until I finally figure it out?

2011-2013ish Astra J Mileage

Im looking at getting an Astra but my budget means that they sort of sit in the 90k to 120k mileage area. Is there anything to be looking out for in these cars at these miles or are they pretty solid dailys (considering they’ve been looked after)

Is there any videos or books etc out there on how you approach making music?

I’ve been practicing, learning and making electronic music for about 9 months. I’ve got to a point where I can build a full finished song. Granted they aren’t the best and the mix downs still leave room for improvement but I can now sit there and make a full song and have a basic grasp of most of the individual elements and cogs that go into one (sidechain, EQ, sound stage etc).

But I’m at this point where I really want to make memorable music, my own version of the genre. My music now comes off as a cookie cutter track to the untrained ear, but my inspirations have so much musicality and personal touch in their production.
I feel like the way I’m approaching my art is way too robotic. My music sounds like I’ve followed tutorials.
How do I use what I’ve learnt to start really making art, something that feels alive?

How do artists like Modal Nodes get permission to use sounds from shows and films etc.

I want to use a voice line from a video game in a track but when I try upload it to private on soundcloud the copyright shit stops it. How do I go about getting permission for that stuff to use regularly?

What was ur gateway into the genre?

For me it was this album. Specifically the track Sunlight. Such an absolute classic, I remember being a kid going to school talking to each other about how good it was. It wasnt until a little later that Scary Monsters came out and started an absolute tsunami.

Any Brostep courses out there?

I know there’s plenty of Tearout and Riddim ones out there but I’d really like to learn abit more about what goes into making a good variety of basses and high energy songs like the mid 2010s stuff

What is the green bird that keep swooping down on my screen and flying up out of view again?

I don’t know what it is, it happens to randomly and quickly for me to screenshot or record it. It can’t be a plugin surely because it’s happened on RuneLight and on the mobile version. What the fuck is this bird

Mea Culpa live was a like a religious experience.

I love the band anyway but never have got the chance to see them live. Watching them open for Metallica last night was awesome and when they performed Mea Culpa I almost teared up. It was so fucking good live. Genuinely my favourite moment of the night. Gojira are brilliant, as they performed I was just thinking wow, these are artists at work. Of course all bands make art etc but Gojira just felt so special live I couldn’t quite put my finger on it besides of course the Mea Culpa performance.

Would you consider buying Bass Racks Generators cheating?

Just considering buying a bass generator rack but although it looks really fun and easy I feel like it’s kind of cheating. Like I don’t see it really helping me improve unless I actually look through all the built ins it’s using and the settings. I feel like if I drop a song and the main bass is relying on a generated rack I’ll feel false / fake for releasing it.
