Positive Transracial Adoption

Do any adopt these of color have good relationships with their white adopted parent? I work with a lot of Black children who have been adopted by non-Black families. But I’ve only met a few parents who really try to make an effort to learn their child’s culture. Most just try to ignore or dismiss their race. I’ve never met a non-Black parent who cares enough to set aside money to ensure their child’s hair stays done or they can take proper care of their hygiene requirements (lotion, oil, etc.).

I kind of feel like not getting your child’s hair done or ensuring that they have the tools to build a positive sense of self is child neglect. I’ve seen kids had to shave their heads because their parents refuse to learn how to care for it. I’ve also seen kids get eczema because their parents don’t ensure they’re using lotion every morning.

Usually, their lack of care bleeds into how they treat the child. It’s like they treat their children like they’re wild animals while also not giving them the tools to groom themselves. Then they start acting too scared to parent them or they start acting scared of the child once they get older. I don’t know if I’m being hypercritical or if this is an actual issue. Are there any transracially adoptees who love their non-black or white adopted parent? How can I encourage non-Black parents to do better? How can I help Black adoptees enhance their self image without crossing their parents boundaries? My questions are for people of color, not the people who adopted them. Ive heard hella parents from transracially adopted families praise transracial adoption.

Teen pregnancy mod

Does anyone know any pregnancy mods that work well with Chris Hatch’s global visit, neighbor mod? I’ve tried using RCC, ACR ,and the sim blender but the Sim only gives pregnant for an hour. Then when I scan the lot, the sim is no longer pregnant.

Effective consequences for kids

I work with kids, but don’t have any children of my own. What are some effective consequences that you all have been given that have changed your life?

I’ve read several studies, articles, and books but I’ve been in the field for almost a decade now and have seen many consequences fail (suspensions, taking away electronics, spankings, therapy, meds, iep’s, paras, after school programs, etc.) with students from various backgrounds. Has anyone seen any methods that work every time?

For me, I got spankings, yelled at, grounded, cursed out, etc. But the most effective consequence, I ever had was watching my mom cry when I got kicked out of high school and being read to filth by someone who worked at the school district. Of course, that’s only me & my experience. That’s why I’m asking what has worked for everyone else.

Over the last several years, I’ve been blessed to build strong relationships with most of the students I work with but their relationship with me doesn’t always change the way they behave or how they treat other adults. I try to start every day as a new day and heavily incentivize good behavior so I feel like that’s also part of the reason I don’t struggle with kids. What are some better methods that y’all have tried?

I think my boyfriend may be DL

I I can’t tell if my boyfriend is D or if I’m being homophobic. I met my boyfriend (31 M) last fall. we’ve been dating ever since and everything‘s going great. We often talk about getting married and building a life together. But I can’t shake a feeling that he may be DL. His mannerisms are kinda feminine sometimes, he talks with his hands a lot, he sags, and sometimes he says “yay” (I say yay a lot too so maybe he picked it from me). Plus when we first met, he had ED for the first few times. He was in the navy and unsure of his next steps, so we assumed it was just nervousness and stress. I’ve talked to one of my close gay friends about it and he said that he’s never met a straight man that says yay. I’ve introduced him to one of my best friends when she came to town to visit. At first she thought I was being dramatic, but after having dinner, she mentioned that she noticed that he talks with his hands a lot and sometimes his hand movement are a little feminine. I talked to my therapist about it and she told me to not judge people but also don’t ignore my intuition. Recently he got into an argument about a parking spot while he was parking my car. During the argument, he called the other person the F word. I told him that he was wrong and he apologized. The whole situation added to my suspicions because I never think to call someone the F word while I’m arguing because I’m not thinking about who other people are sleeping with. So for him to call him the F word I felt like he be thinking about who other men are sleeping with, which added to my suspicions. I love my boyfriend a lot and outside the parking Incident we never have had a disagreement. He knows I’m bi. I’ve talked to him about possibly exploring, or opening the relationship so we can explore others but he’s totally against it. I’ve also asked if he’s ever slept with a man or anyone who wasn’t born a female and he said no. He’s also mentioned that he’s never tried anal, although I don’t think I asked. Are these actual red flags? Am I being homophobic? Do yall think he might be DL?

I’ve been playing with Pleasantview for a minute. Here are some updated storylines.

Dina married Mortimer. They had 3 kids before he died. She started a business and became a millionaire after he passed. Nina is a manager for her.

Nina has five kids. Four are from her ex-boyfriend and one is from Daniel Pleasant.

Angela Pleasant got pregnant by Dustin in high school and in college, then eventually dropped out. Dustin graduated with honors, opened a business, employed his family, remodeled his mom’s house, then bought a home & married Angela. She constantly cheats on him with Nina‘s (now married) baby daddy and everyone else in town.

Brandi broke is pregnant and works for Dustin. She moves her random baby daddy into her house and will marry him soon. Her baby that she was pregnant with is in high school and Beau is in college. Brandi also cheats with Nina’s (married) baby daddy.

Lilith married dark, she sometimes cheats on him with women. They just had two twins after completing college and getting married.

Darren married Cassandra after she divorced Don for cheating. Darren now lives of Cassandra and her three children plus their new daughter. Dirk and Lilith live in his previous house.
