Guys... it's a roguelike. It's supposed to be hard.

Speaking as someone who has 250 hours in the game and has gotten to level 30 multiple times without save-scumming, I keep seeing so many posts about wanting to make the game easier, nerf the enemies, nerf the pits etc.

I think people are forgetting or misunderstanding what the point of this game is.

It's a rouge-like; Dying is part of the gameplay. You learn from your deaths and it makes you a better player.

Randomness with shop items (RnG) is an intended factor.

If you have bad rng and care about going far? Restart the game.

It's supposed to be hard.

It's supposed to have a learning curve.

You're supposed to take your time and watch where you're walking.

You have so many weapons and equipment, that, if used correctly, completely trivialize most of the challenge.

When you die over and over in a platforming game, do you get angry at the devs for putting the jumping puzzles in that literally make it a fucking platforming game?

Everything in the game is intended and everything can be skilled past.

Keep dying to enemies? Buy guns, hide properly, and/or use pits to kill them.

Keep falling in Pits? Watch where you're walking. Take your time. Stop rushing around the level. Or better yet, buy the new refibro item which in solo can resurrect you from a pit death.

I would guarantee you that 90% of pit-related deaths in this game are YOUR own fault, because you rushed around and didn't pay attention. That's not the game's issue, it's your issue.

There are OBVIOUSLY situations where you get shafted by multiple enemies in a room full of pits, but those situations are also COMPLETELY avoidable if you know how to play. Some of the enemies are deaf, or have terrible line of sight. You're also *Almost* invisible if you're in tumble mode (The most you can squash yourself down) and hiding under something.

However, most enemies can also kill other enemies, scarecrow being a good example since she has a wide attack AoE and can be easily baited into other enemies early game.

I get why people have these complaints - I had them too, until I realize that most of it was down to ME as a player making early mistakes, not maxing money, rushing around too much, not understanding how the monsters work etc.

*Edit*

I think another factor with this game is that the art-style and the appeal of the SemiBots has made the game extremely popular and mainstream but in reality the actual gameplay is VERY niche and only really truly enjoyed by very few people (in that it's a rouge-like and has no permanent progress)

So I think most people come into to the game thinking it's going to be a lot easier and a lot more forgiving than it actually is.

Been playing this seed for a while, it's a decent sized island and it has almost everything needed for progression:

A complex cave system that contains Copper, Tin, Iron, Borax and Brown coal deposits, plus plenty of ruins and locust nests

Furniture Trader, Pine, Oak and Birch, trees, Pigs, Goats and chickens, Red clay, Lots of Cat tails and Fish, Peat

Check comments for world seed and playstyle
