Am I taking things on the road too personal?

I think I need help. I took a nice 3 month vacation (WORKING REMOTELY IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY) and came back to nova. Once back on the road, I started getting stressed out at dangerous and rude drivers. I feel like I am one honk away from having a road rage. Yesterday, two drunk women coming out of the Revolution bar in Centreville FLIPPED* me off after blocking me from going straight in their cars. I snapped and laid on the horn. But afterwards, I felt like I had stooped down to their level. I felt like I got into a shouting match with a dog for barking at me. I need to calm the hell down before this gets worse. Not to mention an hour long commute (one-way) to work. I just hate being back in nova when I'm on the road.

Want to move to Korea permanently every time I visit

I visit Korea, aka my motherland, every year for about 3 months at a time. Each year, I feel the urge to just move to Korea. People tell me it's different when you are vacationing vs actually living here. My family love it here but I probably cant make a good living here as a CPA from the US. I am told it would be impossible to find a job that matches my US salary. I love the people, food, public transportation, having relatives nearby, etc. I feel like I always put my guard up or feel a heavy burden when I land in the US. But when I come to Korea, all that is gone and feel very peaceful.

Maybe I am also stuck in a honeymoon phase. I live around DC and it's a nice place but find it just boring.

Does a good gym produce folks who perform well at comps?

My gym is run by a popular dude in both bjj and mma. But I cant help but notice how he produces mid to low level results at comps. His former coaches have gone out and set up schools nearby but not close enough to canibalize each other and they do better at comps. He has had a few fighters who fought at the ufc. But our school ain't winning medals like 10th planet at comps. Does it mean it's a bad gym?

Why didn't the original (Japanese) jiujitsu gain popularity?

I am curious as to why it took the Brazilian version to gain popularity and why the Japanese jiujitsu did not gain much traction. Was it too complicated?

Odd experience with Lotte Car Rental

I rented a sedan from Lotte to go to the East Sea. When I first got into the car, it wreaked of cigarette smell. I was confused cus I didnt rent a smoking car. The smell sorta went away after we rolled down the windows. When I returned it, I told them that the car stank and smelled of cigarettes. One of the staff members said that it's really not a cigarette smell but them dudes from the Middle East. I was like wtf?! I told him I can def tell that it was cigarettes but they just kept saying middle easterners. This one is the one by 서울역. I will never use them again.

Korean dudes be like...

I am Korean and I'm not trying to insult the people of Korea. I just find it weird that men wont wash their hands at restrooms, but will spend a minute to put some water on their hair.

Gym culture in Korea seems off

I am from the US so I am biased but the gym culture seems off. It is my conclusion based on just 1 gym experience. I only do weights.

  1. No one wipes after they use a machine.

  2. People spend way too much looking down at their phones in between reps and just sit there.

  3. People come out of nowhere and say they were using the machine when I even come close. I alway look around to see if someone is using before touching a machine.

Anyone here refuse to use the soap bars at public restrooms?

I have seen soap bars stuck on a metal arm and found it very odd but maybe it's just me. I would prefer the liquid soap dispenser but I refuse to touch the soap bar. Am I alone?

I think I am weird - so many hot ladies in Korea

I am a gyopo and live in an area where there are a lot of Koreans (probably ranked right below LA). But I am surprised at how there are so many good looking Korean ladies. Obviously, I should not be comparing what I see in Korea to the little area that I live in but damn I come every year 3 months at a time and still cant get used to how there are so many good looking ladies here.

It is a stupid post but just wanted to get it off my chest.

Do Chinese people think that Koreans can speak Chinese?!

Was busy running errands and had to stop by at a bank in Myeongdong and some old Chinese lady started asking me things in Chinese. I told her I am not Chinese but she continued to talk to me in Chinese and even got mad when I told her, "No Chinese, sorry." This is not the first time. I wish I could have helped her but I was on the clock. Then some white dude walked into the bank and the same lady started talkiing in Chinese to him as well. I was quite baffled.

What is a chinito?!

I was in line at a Dulles Airport duty free shop when two filipino ladies pointed at me and said something something chinito. Then the other lady helped me. I asked what chinito meant but she said she never said that and she started lying and claimed she said koreano. Can my spanish speaking redditors help me out here? Am I overreacting?
