Indian women socially isolating them for their boyfriends.

Recently, I have noticed a bunch of my friends completely isolating themselves for their man. They ensure that their lives revolve around their boyfriends. Barely, hanging out with other friends or having any personal activities or hobbies.

This bothers me a lot. I have a boyfriend but he doesn’t seem to consume my life. The only reason I find it concerning is cause GOD FORBID, if they do end up breaking up. This girl would be socially isolated and the breakup itself would be a million times more painful considering her entire routine is around this guy.

Do you think, I’m unreasonable for feeling this way?

Disclaimer: I’m not against hanging out with your boyfriend a lot, just the idea of isolating your own interests and friendships for a man!

Haven’t recieved Pre-CAS for my MSC program yet

I applied in March this year for my program and I basically got the offer letter around June 10th. I haven’t gotten my pre-CAS yet. I checked the processing time but it still hasn’t come through. Should I mail them or just sit tight.

Been feeling a bit anxious about this lately. Any sort of advice would mean a lot!

Thank you :))

Does LSE seem worth it for a masters in environment & development?

Hi, I’m 23 got into LSE for a masters in environment and development. Is it worth considering? Knowing that the development field is dying because of US AID cuts. Also, how does the job market look for an LSE graduate?

Also, is LSE reputed for this specific field because I know in the QS ranking, Sussex is first.

My_qualifications :

I hold a Bachelors in Social Work ( was valedictorian)
I hold a Masters in Social Work

A message from an Alumni

When I see Reddit posts talking about how happy you guys are to get into Christ. I FEEL SO BAD.
Trust me, I got into christ, I was on top of the world for like 3 months. Then, I truly realized what everyone meant when they warned me against christ.

I did my masters in Christ. Sure, I agree that you get a lot of opportunities, like exchange programs and stuff. BUT, it’s not worth the mental trauma. I’ve relatively been a happy kid/adult throughout my life. I got diagnosed with depression in my 2nd year. LITERALLY ONLY BECAUSE OF CHRIST. My psychiatrist told me that at least 10 kids, come visit her from Christ because of the faculty.

I had terrible depression because of some family issues, which lead me to having an attendance shortage. The way, the faculty berated me for this was insane. I was harassed, I was put in a meeting with a bunch of faculty and shamed. Mind you, I had informed them, that I was suffering and had depression. They said that that’s not their “problem” .

This further led me to take anti-depressants. This whole ordeal. I was told to write a letter apologizing for having depression and having an attendance shortage. After, that I started getting panic attacks, like the idea of entering the University. I was shivering, the only thing that got me through was the anti-depressants.

The craziest part is, I was valedictorian in my bachelors and I have always been a well- performing student in Christ and that’s how they treated me.

Additionally, there was this other kid in our class who had openly molested another student when I was the CR. But, no one batted an eye against BTW. I complained and they forgave him. BUT, I had to suffer, although I was a good student and I had always been on top of everything.

SO PLEASE, the students who did not get in. Take it as a blessing. ALSO, in my batch literally no one got placed btw!

The people who are in, you will meet some good friends and maybe there are a bunch of extra curricular activities. But, steer away from the faculty. Don’t ever consider them someone you can rely one. PLUS, the therapist/counselors in campus are ass and super incompetent.

Update: my mom replied after running away.

My mother finally came in contact with me, she started accusing me of not caring about her if she lives or dies. I told her that she’s been a horrible parent and I have no interest in finding out but I’m forced to because she is my mother and my brother is getting anxious about her. She then, randomly went like she wants a divorce from my father. I was like why are you telling me? Go talk to him directly instead.

She started berating me for using “vulgar” language btw. Now, I don’t know what to do in this situation. She’s lowkey blackmailing me that she will not come home if I don’t invite her for my Graduation but honestly I DONT CARE.

Am I a horrible person for refusing to chase after my mom after she “ran away”?

My mom was using really abusive and vulgar language towards me recently, and I finally confronted her and told her she’s making everyone around her miserable. After that, she left the house and basically “ran away.”

For context, my brother and I don’t even stay at home most of the time. Later, my younger brother called her, and she refused to say where she was. She told my dad she “went on a trip,” which honestly made me feel like this was more about attention than actual danger.

Then her relatives started calling us and yelling at my younger brother, saying we don’t care about her and that this is why she left. Her mother literally called my younger brother “the devil reincarnated” and said my poor innocent mother is suffering because of us. My brother was crying a lot after that.

The thing is, I don’t even want to contact my mom because she has a pattern of doing dramatic things for attention, and I don’t want to reinforce it anymore. But now I keep second-guessing myself and wondering if I’m actually a horrible person. What if she genuinely left because she’s hurting and I’m just cold and selfish for not reacting the way everyone expects me to?

What’s also messing with me is that my graduation is this week, and there’s been absolutely zero concern or support about any of that. Part of me feels guilty for even caring about my graduation while all this is happening.

I genuinely can’t tell anymore if I’m being emotionally detached for self-protection or if I’m actually the problem.

Which university is better for international development?

I got into three universities, University of Sussex with scholarship, SOAS and university of Manchester. I want to do a course in environment, policy and development. I know that Sussex is ranked 1, but my friends are telling me that Brighton might not have much job opportunities. SOAS is ranked 2 but London is really expensive. I’m having a hard time making a decision. I want a course that probably has the best value overall.

I’m not sure if I want to work or get into academia. Also, before you all tell me it’s a dying field I know but I’m not entirely sure If my plans are to work in the UK as well. I want jobs more in islands cause I’m passionate about marine conservation.

My_qualifications:

  1. bachelors in social work & Valedictorian
  2. Masters in social work
  3. 9 internships across various fields
  4. 8.5 IELTS
  5. Semester exchange in Germany

IDS at Sussex university

I got into Ma development, environment and policy at Sussex. I’m an international student and I was wondering about how good employability is after graduating! Any information would be super helpful.

It would also be amazing if I could connect with someone who graduated in this field!

Also, I’ve done my bachelors and masters in social work already.

Should I just cancel my college offer letters?

I had finished my bachelors and masters in social work & I was hoping to go to Netherlands. ISS, in international development but after looking at this subreddit I feel so discouraged.

I was hoping to get into a program manager role in an NGO or something related to ESG. But, now I’m super doubtful. I got in Sussex with scholarship (Ma development, environment & policy) & Manchester uni (MSC global development).

Should I just cancel it overall and look for an other field?

Picking a course in Master of International Development

I am so conflicted between picking ISS Hague, MA international development located in Netherlands or between picking MSc Global Development, Manchester Uni in the UK.

What do you think would be better? I tried researching but I still feel so very conflicted and confused. Any sort of help in aiding me pick a course would be super insightful!

For your info, I finished my bachelors and masters in social work and I hopefully want to work with international organizations.
