How much cash do you usually maintain?

I was chatting to a friend a few days ago and he mentioned the fact that he had a few lump sum payments to make in the coming months such as paying off a balloon payment on a car, a deposit for a second car, and then over payment on a mortgage.

It made me wonder if I’m doing something wrong with my finances. I probably have something like 15k liquid and 6 months worth of an emergency fund, but other than that everything else to my name is invested or in my pension.

Does anyone do anything similar? I usually get my cars on PCP (I know that’s terrible), but even if I wanted to buy without finance I currently wouldn’t be able to. I’m in a similar situation if I wanted to move house. The stamp duty would wipe out my cash.

Has anyone had an upgrade offer from Gold to Platinum

As above, have Amex historically given upgrade offers? I’m considering whether to go back to platinum

Is the 34mm SS Royal Oak equally as difficult to get compared to the larger sizes?

As above - I have small wrists and think the 34mm would be the perfect size. I haven’t tried one one yet but I was wondering if this version is as difficult to buy from AP as the larger sizes.

Anyone know or has had experience purchasing a 77450ST.OO.1361ST.02?

F1 Hospitality vs Paddock Club

It’s on my bucket list to do paddock club (not sure where) but how does hospitality compare? E.g for Silverstone I’ve seen some hospitality packages for £3-4k for one day. Is it worth it?

From a market value/fundamentals perspective- does this have more room to run?

Like a lot of people I missed out on investing in SDNK earlier in the year. Based on fundamentals has this still got room to run or have we largely missed the boat? Or am I better off looking somewhere else?

What is it about the new M2 that makes it easier to drive than the old one?

I’m a noob at sim racing and have only had my rig for 6 months. One of the cars I’ve struggled most with as a rookie is the m2. I’ve never been able to do consecutive laps without spinning or crashing.

After seeing a bunch of comments about the new m2 I thought I’d give it another go. I jumped straight into the race and wow it’s so much easier to drive. I started last and got close to a podium, most importantly I never had an incident.

I don’t get it. This feels like a different car/sim

Best store to purchase from in Paris

I’m heading to Paris in a couple of weeks and would like to get a cabin (not sure if original or classic) to go with my original Trunk. Aside from a RIMOWA store, which is the best department store to pick one up from. Do any provide any additional discounts for foreigners?

Is a 34” Ultra wide sufficient?

I’ve been using an old 27” 4k work monitor as a starting point for my sim rig that I’ve had for last 4 months. It’s only 60hz so I’m now thinking of upgrading it.

As per the title. Is a 34”, 21:9, 1440p sufficient in terms of size? I’m sat 65 cm from the screen.

Amazon in the uk currently have the lg 34gx900a-b for £643

Keen to hear from people who have a similar setup?

Also, are there any other monitors you would recommend I look at?

Septime

I’m heading to Paris in a month. I’ve wanted to try Septime for a while. Is it still any good or should I look at alternatives?

Edit- is it difficult to get a reservation? I see that they open up 3 weeks ahead at 10am

Edit 2 - if I can’t get a reservation. What are good alternatives?

How many hours have you had to put in to get reasonably good?

I’m relatively new to sim racing. I bought my rig last Christmas so have been slowly getting up to speed. I’m finding formula easier to handle than sports cars at the moment.

Anyway, how many hours have you had to put in to get reasonably competitive?

Edit - adding a bit more context. Although I’ve had my sim rig for around 4 months. Due to my busy work schedule, I only get on average a few hours per week racing. I’m need to carve out more time to practice for sure. I currently have an irating of 1400 on formula and 1100 sports cars

How long have you been on the waitlist for the SIPP?

I’ve made a request to open a SIPP weeks ago and I’m still waiting. Have many of you been able to actually open an account?

At this rate I’m considering opening one elsewhere

When you sell an ETF do the funds become available immediately to trade?

I’m looking to sell some of my position in VWRP tomorrow morning. I can’t find anywhere on the UI that states if the proceeds become available to me immediately to trade or if I wait to wait for settlement.

Does anyone know?

For those of you with 10+ year old models, how are you getting on with upkeep and maintenance?

I’m thinking well ahead about my next car. I sold my 718 a few months back, which I loved and got into a Tesla M3 (story for another sub). I’ve got the Tesla for 3.5 more years and would then like to get back into a Porsche.

My dream car is a 911. A 991.2 on CPO in the uk
is around 60k GBP. I’m hoping by the time I need to buy in 2029 the 992.1 is around the 60-70k gbp mark. Anyway is the maintenance cost of an older model significantly more? I’m wondering if it is then I should go for another model such as a 718 GTS 4.0.

Reason I’m asking this now is so that I set money aside to be financially prepared. As soon as I bought the Tesla I already started to save money on a down payment.

I’ve recently changed my profile photo after a few years and no matter what I do it looks compressed and a little blurry after it’s been uploaded. I’ve formatted the original photo to 1:1 and set media upload quality to HD but no matter what it looks terrible.

Is anyone facing this issue? I also tried updating via the Mac app. I don’t know what else to try.
