Bruh the new meli ultimate animation is P2W

I'm not talking about the ultimate move EFFECT I'm talking about the animation itself. The less dupes you have the less sins appear in the actual animation, mine is currently 2/6 and half of the sins don't show up and when I asked around I found out that the full animation is LOCKED behind dupes. This has to be the goofiest shit netmarble has EVER pulled.

Endless cycle theory.

So I just had a thought earlier today and when I looked online it seemed this theory didn't exist so I thought I would post it.

Something that happens at the very end of the re manga is that a new species seems to appear due to kaneki which is neither fully human or fully ghoul. What if this is the start of a new cycle?

During the entire manga it's mentioned a couple times that neither humans nor ghouls know where ghouls came from or why they exist, what if hundreds or even thousands of years ago something catastrophic like this happened that gave rise to ghouls but it's been so long that nobody remembers, and over the years ghouls learned to integrate themselves in human society. What if this new species which seems animalistic in nature now eventually goes through the same process of evolving to live within the new human and ghoul society and start eating them? In which case the cycle continues.

Expedition 33 review. Not enough expeditioning.

This game was so unbelievably ass that I decided to platinum it so I never have to play it again.

Nah but fr, to say this game was good would be an understatement. I see why it won GOTY and nearly every other award too. I originally wanted to make a LONG long review but I'm too lazy so I'll just write whatever comes to mind rn. Also the photos i took after the first one are just of shots I thought looked cool and will probably be using them as wallpapers in the future.

First ill talk about the main story. I was NOT expecting it to take that turn, it started off fairly simple: a big entity was causing a mass genocide every year and you go on a mission to stop it. The funny thing is that my previous platinum was persona 3 reload which the main theme of that game was life and death and I thought this was gonna be something similar. Like how life is short and everyone finds the meaning in their life and death isn't evil or something like that, but I was SO wrong (to some extent anyways). Before the Alicia epilogue it didn't even cross my mind that the events of the game were (in canon) inside of a fictional world made by a now deceased person, which is even crazier since the moment I got control of Gustave my first thought was "The art style is pretty neat so far, it's like it's mixing realism with water paint", I called it without even realizing it. By the end of act 3 I was even more locked in and was really eager to see the ending since I felt like it could go a number of ways and then the game hits me with an injustice 2 moment of "choose your side". I did end up reloading my save to see both endings but my personal choice was Verso's ending no competition in the slightest. Though both endings were FANTASTICALLY written and gave me several different emotions all at once.

Second I'll talk about the characters and I'll try to keep it brief.

Gustave: Literally the goat, created the lumina converter which aided E33 immensely, raised Maelle AND fought till the end with a hole in his chest.

Lune: She has her grippers out at all times which is disgusting so I have to dock some points for that, all of her relationship increases were among my favorites which only made it hurt even more when I ended up betraying her trust at the end.

Maelle: Parry it

Sciel: Probably has the most depressing backstory out of the main party members, lost her husband, tried to persona 3 herself by drowning AND ended up losing her baby and getting a fear of water after failing to take her own life. Like godamn for a moment I thought they were gonna bring her husband back to life only to kill him off again. I still respect her a lot for all she did though.

Esquie: Bro is literally just a chill dude and strangely enough I understood most of his "riddles" or at least what they were trying to convey.

Verso: He's not the real one but the fake one is all I got to work with (minus the dialogues with Verso's soul). One of the most tragic characters I see a bit of myself on him and he's probably top 3 most relatable characters for me in this game.

Monoco: He's 100% gay for Verso, also lampmaster light go brrrr

Alicia: Well damn God really "fuck you" and made her life a living hell. I wanted to protect her so bad but I was powerless.

Renoir and Aline: I never saw either of them as evil, even the paintress. After learning the whole truth all I felt was pity for them and wanted them to move forward with their lives instead of being stuck in the past inside a world of escapism.

Clea: She wasn't in the game for very long but she still had quite the presence being the one painting all the nevrons hoping to get her parents out of the canvas. Definitely felt bad for her since she's basically all alone in the "real world" probably trying to fend off the writers that caused the fire and who knows what else. Absolute unit.

Simon: He can deepthroat my dick

Third I'll talk about the game mechanics.

I personally didn't mind the implementation of QTEs in a turn based game especially since I play a lot of action games and also played sea of stars which is another turn based game with QTEs but I can see why it might not be everybody's cup of tea. I really like how evey character has their own unique gimmick as well, Gustave has his charges, lune has her element stains, maelle her stances, etc. It really makes every single character feel unique and not just "Oh this character does the same as this other character but better", that way no character feel obsolete after a certain point and remains relevant. The pictos I'll also give a thumbs up, adding extra passives and stats to add more possibilities for builds will always be appreciated.

Fourth I'll talk about the exploration.

I didn't need a map personally, the levels were pretty linear and the side paths weren't very long. I also like finding the shiny things it makes me very happy. In short it really does make me feel like I'm part of the expedition, trying to map out routes in my head for certain areas and getting rewarded every time I looked in a random corner.

Fifth I'll briefly talk about the gestral games since I feel like this is definetly something that a lot of people HATE. I personally didn't think they were THAT bad, I managed to beat them all in less than 10 tries, they were annoying yes but not frustrating. If the overworld controls were less janky I highly doubt as many people would be this mad at the minigames. Though I'll also say the swimsuits don't even look good imo, they could've either gone the fanservice route or make actually well designed swimsuits that reflected each characters personality but nope, just plain and boring looking. If they ever make another game like this and want to bring back minigames all I ask is for the devs to play test them cause it deadass felt like they just put it together then just half assed practiced and said "yeah that's good enough".

Sixth I'll mention the music and graphics/art style.

Definitely a goated soundtrack, there wasn't a single song that I heard where it felt out of place or just outright bad, I'll definitely be adding some to my Spotify playlist. The visuals for the game were nothing short of beautiful I really like how it looks somewhat realistic but not trying to look like real life, kind of like final fantasy were it's realistic looking to some extent but it adds extra elements to make it more artistic rather than leaning into hyperalism, this will pretty much make the art style stand out more and also stand the test of time.

I'll make another section to rant about some stuff that will definitely have mixed opinions but I still want to bring up. I don't like the chromatic ranessuer, at all. I personally didn't have any problems with it since I'm pretty good at parrying however I felt like it's not fair to the players that aren't used to this type of thing, before this the parry mechanic was optional you could get through pretty much any fight by only dodging but with this boss you literally don't have a choice, you either parry or you lose, i just dont think its ok for any game mechanic to just be straight up forced like this like its being shoved down your throat or something. Next I'll mention the endless tower, it was just boring, all you do is fight the same enemies except they're tankier now, if there wasn't a trophy tied to this I would've never bothered with it. Third and lastly I'll mention Simon, when I got to the second phase I could immediately tell that this wasn't a hard boss but rather a "hard" boss, so I just decided to use a one shot build to beat him which was the only time I used that type of build, I wanted to beat him "legitimately" I really did but there was just way too much bs they added onto that fight for it to be worth it.

Lastly I'll mention some little details that weren't big enough to impact the score in a positive or negative way but I still wanted to mention. I like how each expedition flag has a different number it adds history of who's been here ans where they probably met their demise, on a similar note it was a bit disappointing to see that not every body has the number of their respective expedition team on their armband I know it would've been a lot of extra unnecessary work to add them but it would've still been cool to see. I like how the more damage you take the more battle damaged your characters get it makes every fight feel even more intense and even more satisfying if you come out unscathed.

In conclusion I would give this game a 9.5/10. I have some problems with the game but I don't think they're too big to where it ruined the experience for me. Definitely deserved GOTY.

Also who the fuck is Clair and why is she obscure?

Possibly found a way to win 30 baseball card matches easily

I haven't tested this out yet myself but I might have thought of a way to cheese this achievement (pun intended, suck it IGN). Basically you need to collect a certain amount of cards before you can start playing, so I thought that if you look up where the best cards are in the game and ONLY get those then that would mean that during the match you would only draw cards with high stats during all your baseball games. Has anyone tested this out yet? If so then did it work?

I've finally gotten through some of my backlog so now I think it's time I play the most recent GOTY. I'm going in completely blind besides knowing that it's a turn based rpg with QTEs like sea of stars. Any non spoiler tips before going in?

Thank you for the tips. I've muted the subreddit for now until I finish the game.
