I went to Cote’s second location at 550 woah Black Betty bam-ba-lam

If you’re familiar with the original Cote, it’s pretty much the same experience with the clubby vibe at the bar & the same menu. Their clientele is a skews a bit older and more finance-broy because of the location. There was a lot of dudes in polos whining about their wives when I went. If you’re picky about these type of crowds, it might not be the location for you. I had a pleasant enough time though.

Control Resonant pre-order bonus clarification for physical purchases

I've seen some articles state that the pre-order bonuses apply for physical purchases, but said bonuses aren't mentioned in any of the retail listings. Does anyone know if physical editions include the pre-order bonuses?

I’ve been slowly converting my friends into Widow’s Bay believers

I’ve been texting my friends and inviting some of them over to watch this show even though I’ve already seen it multiple times. Maybe I’m just a little obsessed, but there’s actually a lot to get out of repeated viewings. Every episode has so much foreshadowing and hidden little Easter eggs. So far I’ve gotten 4 of them hooked and I’m working on a 5th! lol

I think some people are missing the point of these ultra long lines

It’s feels like every week I see someone post about young people waiting in line for something stupid. I get it, I’m in my late 30s and I would never wait on line for a HeyTea or a Froyo, but have people considered that this is the closest thing to a 3rd space for college kids where they can meet up, chat, and catch up? Getting the tea is an excuse to get together. And if that means they’re having a social life, good for them. All it cost them was $10.

Just wanted to point out that Wolverine splits a guy in half from the belly up at the end.

I've been seeing comments about how there isn't enough gore, but Wolverine splits a guy in half from the belly up at the end . . .

I ate at the latest South Indian standout, Kidilum

Indian food is in its prime in NYC, and after being put off by the increasingly hard to attain reservations at places like Semma, I decided to go for a more recently opened South Indian joint, Kidilum. Note that I’m no expert when it comes to Indian food, so no arbitrary ratings from me, but I did have my Indian friend guide me through the meal.

Akin to a lot of the recently trendy Indian restaurants, the space is beautiful, a nice mix of modern and traditional. I’m glad they leaned away from the mansion adjacent decor like that of Ambassador’s Club, which has kinda become a little too common for upscale restaurants. The menu itself was very curry heavy. I believe their large plates were all curries except for 1 option, a village chicken dish, something the waiter pushed for aggressively, but we passed on it. We ended up ordering a crab curry & a fish curry. Despite the different descriptions, one being mango focused with the other being coconut focused, they tasted quite similar, though both were delicious. There’s a bevy of different carb components, from dosas to sponge cakes to different grains. We got a dosa and some red matta rice. The latter is supposedly more authentic; both paired well with the curry.

In contrast, their small plate offerings have much more variety. This is the portion of the menu adventurous eaters would likely gravitate towards. If I were to return with one other diner, I’d split one curry and order 3-4 small plates. Some of said small plates weren’t even that small. The extravagantly plated, albeit wasteful lamb dish with its crown of whole cinnamon sticks, came with 3 wonderfully spiced medium sized chops. We also had the chakka, a smash of jackfruit that was coated and fried. It was probably the most texturally interesting thing we had that night, and surprisingly the spiciest. We finished the dinner with their very modern takes on halwa & pradhamam for dessert. My Indian friend was very much a fan, especially for the halwa.

And that was my first foray into NYC’s upscale Indian food scene. I came away quite happy. I have another reservation coming up at Bungalow next week and I’m eager to experience more.

Was Sun Ce cruel?

I was watching a historical series on the beginning of the Three Kingdoms period produced by a Chinese historian and he mentioned that Sun Ce was assassinated in part because of his cruelty but doesn't go into further detail. What cruel deeds might this historian be referring to?

Mixue’s $1.19 ice cream ain’t bad. No wait during lunchtime either.

Great for the price tbh, but they definitely try their best to skimp on the ice cream by setting it around the rim of the cone. lol Also, no wait when I went during lunchtime on a weekday.

Can we get some actual moderation in this sub?

I don’t see the point of reopening this sub from abandonment only to abandon it right afterwards. Close the sub down if no one’s going to moderate it.
