Was Jackie Chan one of the most recognizable foreign celebrities in your country growing up?

In India, Jackie Chan had a massive children’s fan following in the 2000s , we absolutely loved him. I still remember rushing home from school just to switch on the TV and catch his movies. That kind of craze was real. Almost every kid was trying to copy his stunts at some point.

Not sure how today’s kids see him, though, but there’s still a lot of respect for him here and it feels like he has almost no haters.

Curious how it was in your country ?

Quarterly Use.AI plan seems way cheaper than monthly… is this just normal SaaS pricing psychology?

Had a coworker constantly talking about Use.AI so i finally checked the pricing page myself 😅

one thing that immediately stood out was how aggressive the quarterly pricing is compared to monthly

monthly is around $29.99/mo, but quarterly is $49.99 for 3 months which works out to roughly ~$16.66/month

from a business perspective, i get why SaaS companies do this — lower churn, better cash flow, more commitment from users, etc. — but the gap still feels surprisingly big compared to most software pricing models i see

it actually got me wondering if this is intentional pricing psychology more than anything else. like making the monthly option look bad on purpose so the quarterly feels like the “obvious” choice

couple things i’m still curious about though:

- do they have an annual option hidden somewhere or only monthly/quarterly?

- if you subscribe quarterly, can you still cancel anytime before renewal?

- has anyone here ever negotiated custom pricing with AI SaaS tools directly through support?

i’d mostly be using it for writing, research, and coding workflows, so quarterly probably makes the most sense anyway. mostly just curious from a SaaS/business strategy perspective at this point

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I’m on my third day in Shanghai and I’m honestly so embarrassed. I didn’t get my Alipay linked properly before I landed, so I’ve been trying to use 100 RMB notes. Every time I pull out cash, the shopkeepers look at me like I’ve handed them a relic from a museum. They spend five minutes digging through drawers for change, and I feel like I'm holding up a line of twenty people. Is it even worth carrying cash anymore, or am I just making my own life harder?

Which year is considered to be the worst year in your country's modern history?

For India, I would personally say 2019 because so many major events happened in a single year:

  • 40 CRPF personnel killed
  • Balakot airstrikes and India–Pakistan tensions
  • Revocation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir and resulting unrest
  • Nationwide political protests and polarization
  • Economic slowdown and unemployment concerns

What about your country?

20M looking for genuine online friends ✍🏻

Hey !

I’m a 20M and currently in my second year of college. I genuinely enjoy meeting new people and having random conversations about life, hobbies, cultures, or literally anything interesting.

One of my biggest hobbies is football ⚽ and I can talk about matches for hours lol. I also really enjoy watching people cook, and honestly people who can bake 🎂 automatically earn my respect

I’d say I’m pretty chill and open-minded, so if you’re someone who likes good conversations, sharing music/memes, talking about daily life, food, sports, or just wants a new online friend, feel free to message me.

A few things before you DM me:

  1. I’m not looking for dating or anything romantic. Just genuine friendships.

  2. I’d rather avoid conversations about politics, religion, or social debates/issues. They’re just not my thing.

3..I prefer people who can actually hold conversations consistently instead of disappearing for super long gaps all the time

  1. Your age, ethnicity, or gender doesn’t really matter to me as long as you’re respectful and can hold a conversation.

Would love to meet people from different places and make some genuine friendships :)

P.S. I’m weirdly popular on the u/AskTheWorld subreddit because I genuinely love learning about different cultures and countries 😭 So if you have any questions about India, feel free to ask me that too.

What cartoon/movie did you grow up watching and still rewatch today?

As an Indian kid, summer vacations at my grandparents’ house just hit differently

I used to spend my mornings watching Phineas and Ferb on TV and honestly those memories still feel so comforting.

Same with movies like Despicable Me, Toy Story, Stuart Little, Frozen, Big Hero 6..

Even now, if one of them is playing somewhere, I’ll probably stop and watch it for a while 😂

What’s that one cartoon or childhood movie you still go back to because of nostalgia?

Thinking about returning to the 3D print farm business

A few years ago I ran a small 3D print farm. My business was mostly accessory designs and occasional custom commissions. While the custom orders had higher margins they were inconsistent and the time required for modeling made them difficult to sustain. I eventually stopped because the labor didn't justify the profit, especially as everyone in the market was trying to lower the pricing.

Recently I have been looking at ai tools like Hunyuan and Hitem3D.

Based on some initial tests, they seem to reduce the time spent on the early stages of modeling, though they still require manual cleanup and a financial investment for the software.

I am considering back to the market, but I need to be careful about the actual roi. I am not sure if there is still enough demand for custom work to make this profitable.

Does anyone here have experience with ai involved workflow? I would like to know if these ai investments improve efficiency enough in practice to make DIY a sustainable business again.

If the global economy suddenly collapsed, which country would be in the best position to survive and recover?

Imagine the world economy completely crashes out of nowhere , markets collapse, currencies lose value, trade slows down, and countries start struggling with shortages and unemployment.

Which country do you think would handle the situation the best and bounce back faster than others? And what makes you think so?

Bhangarh Fort is considered one of the most haunted places in India. Do haunted places like this exist in your country too?

Visitors have reported strange experiences there , sudden panic attacks for no reason, feeling like someone is watching them, hearing footsteps in empty areas, dizziness, whispers, shadows moving in ruined rooms, and an overwhelming urge to leave before sunset.

Some people even claim their phones and cameras stopped working inside certain parts of the fort.

Locals avoid staying there after sunset.

What’s the equivalent of this place in your country?”

I need hearing aids fast, I cannot afford a 6-week wait!

I was just offered a major career opportunity starting in exactly three weeks. This is the role I have been working toward, but suddenly my hearing loss is giving me massive anxiety. I absolutely cannot afford to miss crucial details during my onboarding and initial meetings.

I consulted my audiologist, and their recommended custom-molded solution comes with a six-week manufacturing wait time. I simply do not have that kind of time before my start date.

I need a fast, reliable solution. Are there any quality devices I can get within a week? Would a highly-rated Over-The-Counter (OTC) model suffice as a temporary professional fix? Alternatively, do clinics offer any "instant-fit" prescription devices with generic tips that I could literally walk out with on the same day?

How can i send money to mexico every month for rent in CDMX without losing 3% to payment friction?

8 months a year in mexico city. US based income. Landlord in roma norte wants 18,500 MXN monthly (roughly $1,000 usd at current rate). Spent 3 months testing the stack to find the cleanest recurring flow for this specific setup.

taptapsend us to mexico lets me push to my landlord's bbva bancomer CLABE directly, no separate fee on the send, the cost is in the rate which has been a few pesos per dollar better than my old schwab wire. Delivery within 30 to 60 minutes. Wise has a multi currency account where I can hold USD and MXN, convert on demand at actual mid market, and send a SPEI transfer inside mexico for free once the peso balance is loaded. Remitly works too but their $1.99 fee plus rate markup comes out more expensive than either option above at this amount.

For a nomad running this every month, wise's multi currency account is hard to beat because you only pay the conversion cost when you actually convert, not per transfer. taptapsend is simpler if you want to push US dollars from your US account to the landlord's MXN account without thinking about balances. Both dramatically cheaper than a schwab international wire ($25 fee + bad rate) or any US bank wire.

People from developing countries, what practical signs show that the middle class in your country is getting richer?

In India, I personally feel like wealth is slowly increasing among the middle class. Around 5–6 years ago, most people around me had cheaper cars and budget phones, but now I’m noticing a huge rise in the number of newer cars and different automobile brands in my area. Even smartphones have changed a lot , iPhones, which used to be rare, are now pretty common among ordinary middle-class families now not the newest Pro models or anything, but at least the base iPhones are becoming very common.

( Lol, among friends these days, if someone is using an Android phone they’re sometimes jokingly called “poor,” which honestly surprises me because that was never the case even 4 years ago. )

Looking for an api aggregator recommendation

Hi everyone.

I do digital marketing and content ops. My work includes writing brand content, conducting social media sentiment analysis, auditing community comments, and sometimes writing simple scripts to scrape data

I currently subscribe to chatgpt pro and claude pro, but due to an increasing number of clients, I frequently hit usage limits. Switching models to a/b test outputs isn't convenient either. So I'm looking for a reliable solution that doesn't limit specific usage while allowing me to easily switch models for a/b testing

I learned about api aggregators here. They provide pay-as-you-go, which means the cost depends on my usage. I looked at openrouter which many people recommend, but I don't want to pay the extra 5.5% fee. I also saw some mentions of zenmux, litellm, and helicone

So has anyone used these ones specifically? wondering what the experience is like or if there are other good aggregators you'd suggest

Who else was completely blindsided by the twist in Swapped?

I put this on for my kids over the weekend thinking it was just another Freaky Friday knockoff. I was so wrong. The moment they revealed it wasn't a body swap but a species-swap/biological reset thing? I actually gasped. Skydance and Netflix really cooked with this one. It’s the first time in years that an animated family movie actually surprised me.

Flew to HK then took the train to Shenzhen, no issues with security.

Flew from Shenzhen to Xi'an and airport security didn't not like my USB powerbank. Was bought on Amazon in the UK 2 months ago, all the usual logos and surely made in china. Apparently, didn't have the CCC logo required within China.

Option was to send it to me (by plane?) or discard it. Was annoyed as I didn't have a powerbank anymore for the day, nor a charger.

Does that mean "made in China" products are actually not good enough for China? Why are they shipped to Europe then?

My personal take is China 🇨🇳 Even though I disagree with a lot of their government’s anti-India politics, I still have to admit they seem far ahead in infrastructure, manufacturing, AI, transport, and overall technological growth. Sometimes it genuinely feels like they’re building the future faster than everyone else.

Which country do you think has the biggest potential to shape the future of the world technologically, and why?
