Welp, May as well show this.

So this is supposed to be a very basic TDA mod. Despite the fact that it doesn't have all the features the actual game has, it's still pretty fun. I haven't gotten to the other weapons yet (I still can't figure out how to do the Chainshot 😭), but i'm planning to have the Atlan weapons and the turret where you can pick them up and use them until they run out of the ammo which will be specific to them. and eventually if i can figure out how to make a grappling hook, then i'll make the Spear.

Oh yeah and before you complement me on how accurate i drew the sprites, i actually snapshotted them from gameplay and adjusted the size and stuff, and the muzzle flashes are from other sprites from the og games

You see a version of Uzi building… something.

It’s out in an open field, where several old cars are leaned against each other, all connected to black cables hooked up to a large stack of microwaves. A greenish glow emits from the interior of the structure.

What do you do?

Hear me out: a race of aliens that actually use magic.

I know we got the time wizard, but we didn’t really see any casting spells or anything. I was watching a video the other day about Elden ring sorcery and thought, “you know? It would be pretty sick if there were aliens that could do spellcasting.”

And they could be legitimate threats to the Psychowarriors as well, such as using a lightning spell to disable their weapons or conjuring a spear or sword of pure energy. Heck, even throw in some golems made of stone to clobber the Psychowarriors. Then once the warriors were down they suck out the life force to replenish their mana.

I’m not exactly sure what they would look like, but since they use magic maybe they could have antennae that detect disturbances in their planets field.

I might draw an idea later if I have the time.

A green glow appears, and a variation of Uzi falls into the snow.

(Not the first time I’ve brought Uzi smith here)

Uzi smith gets up and brushes herself off.

Uzi smith: Where the heck am I again? It feels kinda familiar.

How would you do character arcs through a series of stories?

I’m working on a fantasy-wild west project and my three main characters are supposed to have quite a many different adventures and character arcs. But that’s where I’m hung up. I get having a character arc that ends with the characters flaw being gotten over, but I don’t want them to just have no development moving forward. I thought about when they resolve one flaw, it brings up another flaw unintentionally, or a new flaw arises based on events in the story.

I’m asking because I want the story to kinda play out like a DND campaign where the journey is driven by the characters choices and beliefs.

Hear me out for a doom movie/miniseries

I f you’ve ever seen red Dawn, it’s basically like that, but the beginning of the invasion in Doom 2.

Folks living their normal lives out in a Texas town (because Doomguy is from there), and things only start getting weird once a few people get possessed, and open the gateway, letting imps and pinkies out into the town and surrounding areas.

Some people are able to escape and go into the countryside as hell’s forces focus on the nearby army bases. The survivors do a decent job of defending themselves, but after learning that more portals are opening, they aren’t exactly going to be rescued anytime soon as the military is heavily occupied with Cacos, revenants, mancubi, and the whole lot.

So some of them decide to draw attention away from the military. After killing a small group of possessed soldiers on their way to infiltrate another base, they get weapons and start preforming guerrilla attacks. And for a while it works.

The last leg is trying to help get a community of survivors out while distracting the main horde in the region. The main characters sacrifice themselves to kill the hellknights and barons, allowing people to escape.

Then when the Archviles are cleaning up their losses, a patch of green teleport fog appears, and a marine with a double barrel shotgun walks out of it.

I might write this myself, but what do you guys think?

Edit: I meant to say Doom spinoff

Is there a mod kinda like the complex doom legendary addon but just the monsters?

Because I’d like to try fighting the legendaries with some of the custom weapons I’ve made or another weapon pack.

Imagine a Ghostbusters What if series kinda like the marvel ones.

I mean I don’t know if the marvel ones were actually that good, but a collection of short what ifs set in the universe would be Interesting in my opinion.

Like for example: “What if Dana looked into paranormal research on her own after encountering the fridge?” Then the episode would have a short little arc where she researches and tries to obtain evidence that something is in her apartment, and is eventually able to trap Zuul in the bathroom with something she learned from her research. She then goes to warn Louis, but when he opens the door, it’s revealed that Vince Clotho has already possessed him.

If they did do a series like this, what would you want to do as a What if?

I had an idea for a horror mod but I wanted to know if it was too cheesy

So basically it would add this radio that works like silent hill and plays static when an enemy mob is nearby. Pretty useful at night, but then as time goes on, it begins playing static when it seems like nothing is around, making you feel paranoid, or picking up on regular animals like pigs and sheep, making you question whether you’re going insane or not.

I dunno, is it too cliche? Also I’m not a Minecraft modder so I probably don’t actually know if it would actually work.

Revival

Uzi smith rested her head against the table. She was tired from all the nights trying to get everything back together. She back up at Sara’s body, who looked so peaceful on the table. “I don’t know anymore.” She said.

“Hey, don’t worry. Everything’s gonna work out.” Kinger patted her on the back. He’d helped her get everything ready while they were waiting for one last piece.

“I hope.” Uzi smith said. “I told Tord I would, but…”

There was a knock at the door. Uzi smith slid off of her stool as it opened and a hooded figure walked in with a sack.

“You have them?” Uzi smith asked. The hooded figure nodded silently, and set the sack on the table.

“Uh, who’s this?” Kinger asked.

“He’s kinda a dimensional traveler. I’d asked him to find something that…” Uzi reached for the sack, but the figure slid it back. He then tapped on his right hand.

“Oh yeah, sorry I almost forgot.” Uzi went back and pulled something Out from under her workbench and brought it to him. “I think i got it all fixed.”

The figure strapped it onto his arm and inspected it for a moment. Satisfied, he slid the sack to her. Uzi smith untied it and began looking through it.

Kinger looked in from the side. “So whats this?” He asked, looking at various trinkets inside.

“Things that can revive dead characters.” Uzi handed him a bottle with a small glowing figure fluttering around inside. “I’ve read about one that could work for Sara, Ah! Here it is.”

She pulled out a translucent helmet, seemingly made of pure energy. “It’s called a Life sigil. Used by the night sentinels to revive fallen warriors.”

Sliding the sigil into a box, she took a deep breath. “I have no idea if this is going to work, but you might wanna stand behind something.” She then pressed the command, and the argent energy and sentinel magic flowed from the box, down the wires, and into Sara’s body. The room lit up green, and Sara’s body jolted with energy.

Then it cut out. Uzi smith looked up. The stranger and kinger looked out from behind a deployable wall the stranger had put down.

Sara’s visor flashed on, and started rebooting…

Unique ideas for magic guns?

My story has a Wild West kind of setting and while magic usage isn’t exactly common there, there is a fair amount of it that my characters encounter. So I’ve been trying to experiment with the idea of magic firearms.

One of the more primitive methods I’ve thought of is basically just taking a bullet and carving a rune into it and then charging it with energy so it reacts when it hits. Early on in the series my characters try this when they first deal with a more powerful threat that normal stuff doesn’t work on.

Alternatively theres also the weapons that basically fire spells. Theres kinda a business man in the story who has one of these made by his workers, a handgun that fires a simple ball of energy, like ball lightning. Later on he commissions a revolver with six different spell types, one for each slot in the cylinder. These would probably have a “tank” to store the energy before firing.

I’ve been trying to think of other ways to make a variety in there. How would you make a magic gun?
