Throwback Thursday: Rewinding Rewilding Argentina, Beach Edition (part 8 of 8, aka MEET LA BANDA DE PINGUINOS)
Hello penguin gang! We have finally come to what I see as the conclusion of the last season from the cameras of Isla Tova. This was taken in the afternoon rather than the morning. At this time of day the Magellan penguins are coming out of the water and up the beach towards the camera, hopefully with bellies full of fish. The focus of this video is the teenage penguins, which have not developed a stripe along their bellies and have more white feathering on their face than the adults.
At about 2 minutes, we can see the group get closer to the camera, and there are six chicks that are staying relatively close together! This is reminiscent of the six chicks that would hang out together at the nest before they fledged of course. Are they the same chicks? Impossible to say for certain but I like to believe that the penguin gang sticks together.
Viva la Banda de Pinguinos!
I do have some more videos of the adult Magellan penguins returning to their nest a couple months after this, but I will be taking a break from the Rewilding Argentina videos. We also have the YouTube channel, Banda de pingรผinos, which has many videos of the nests over the course of last season. The Magellan penguins and livestream should be returning in October, when the penguins return for another breeding season.
