How to be an understanding friend

K I’m someone who has an anxious attachment style, but let’s say my really good friend doesn’t. I wouldn’t say they are avoidant either because honestly I’m aware there are different ways, different people show care and love, but idk it’s just my brain, even if I convince it they’re busy or maybe they’re just not feeling it, bad mood, if we haven’t talked for the day somehow there are still voices in my head telling me that they hate me and that I’m the bad one for not reaching out when all I’m trying to be is considerate, trying to give them space. But no matter how much I say I’m not trying to let it get to me, there’s a small part that thinks, oh maybe they really have found someone better when ik it could be just one of their bad days and they want it all to themselves. See, ik it can be the case bcs despite being anxiously attached I have days like these too BUT STILL what if I’m not the same person for them anymore? What if I’m not the first person who clicks in their mind when they want to tell smth, a win, a funny incident? THIS IS MESSING WITH MY HEAD SM, altho I’m the one who’s tryna give space just bcs ik they have a life of their own, not bcs I don’t wanna appear as someone annoying but mainly bcs I don’t wanna be always there texting first and becoming this unvaluable person ykwim. I cant even talk it out bcs trust me i have and all the times ive been given enough reassurances that i wont be replaced so its toxic and embarrasing to bring it up js bcs im anxious.

Looking for fully funded undergraduate options abroad after FSc — what’s realistic for me?

Hi everyone! I’m from Pakistan and I’m currently in my final year of high school (12th grade). I’m doing my FSc privately under Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB), so I don’t attend a college.

I’m hoping to study Psychology for my bachelor’s degree abroad, ideally starting in 2027.

Here’s my situation:

- Pakistani student

- Currently in 12th grade

- FSc/HSSC under AKU-EB as a private candidate

- 88.4% in 11th grade

- I’m aiming for 90%+ in my final result

- Intended field: Psychology

- I’m looking primarily at fully funded scholarships

- I would need the scholarship to cover tuition + accommodation/housing + living expenses/stipend, and ideally airfare/visa/health insurance as well

- My family can’t realistically fund an expensive international degree, so I’m specifically looking for scholarships where the overall cost to my family would be very low/close to zero

- I’m open to studying in countries where English isn’t the main language, and I’m willing to learn the local language

- I’m not particularly concerned about being in a super prestigious university as long as the degree is legitimate, the university is good, and the funding is genuinely sufficient

- I’m also willing to consider countries outside the obvious US/UK/Canada/Australia options

I’ve recently come across scholarships like Türkiye Scholarships, GKS (South Korea), Stipendium Hungaricum, and the Azerbaijan government scholarship, but I’m trying to figure out what other options exist.

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually gone through this process or know about international undergraduate scholarships.

Specifically, I’d love to know:

  1. Which countries offer fully funded bachelor’s scholarships for Pakistani/FSc students?

  2. Which scholarships would cover tuition + accommodation + living expenses, rather than just tuition?

  3. Are there countries/universities where my 88.4% would make me a reasonably competitive applicant?

  4. Does being an AKU-EB private candidate create any problems for international admissions or scholarships?

  5. How realistic is it for someone with my profile to get fully funded admission?

  6. Are there any scholarships I should definitely apply to even if they’re highly competitive?

  7. Which options should I not waste my time on because they’re either extremely unrealistic or don’t actually provide enough funding?

  8. If you’ve received a fully funded undergraduate scholarship yourself, what did your profile look like when you applied?

I’m not expecting someone to guarantee anything — I’m mainly trying to understand what is realistically available to me and which countries/scholarships I should target during my final year.

Any advice, personal experiences, or specific scholarship names would be massively appreciated! :)

I feel like I’ve spent my whole life living in fear, and I finally want to build a life of my own. Where do I even start?

Life has always been a little weird for me, but I think the reality of where I am right now is finally hitting me, and honestly, it’s scarier than ever.

I’m a girl living in Karachi about to enter her twenties in less than 2 years . I come from a pretty middle-class/upper-middle-class family. Culturally, we’re traditional, but not extremely conservative. I love my parents and siblings, and I genuinely know that I’m fortunate to have a supportive family. My parents have always tried to help me in their own way, especially when it comes to my struggles.

The weird part is that I wasn’t always like this.

I used to be a loud, extremely talkative, confident and somewhat rebellious kid. I had a personality. I spoke my mind. But somewhere along the way, I slowly stopped speaking as much. I was constantly told things like, “Itna faltu nahi bolte,” and I think little things like that eventually got to me.

Then COVID happened, I changed schools, and I moved to an all-girls school. The change was extremely overwhelming for me. I struggled badly, ended up failing a grade, and I feel like that was when things really started going downhill.

Then came college.

My father chose my college for me because, financially, the university/college I wanted wasn't really an option. I didn't argue about it because I understood the situation. The college happened to be co-ed, so once again I was thrown into a completely new environment.

And I couldn't handle it.

My anxiety became extreme. I started bunking classes, constantly worrying about being around people, overthinking everything and eventually reached a point where I told my father that I simply couldn't do it anymore.

Thankfully, he listened.

He took me to therapy, where I was diagnosed with social anxiety. Therapy unfortunately didn't work for me at the time, and eventually I dropped college and continued my education privately.

And now I'm here.

I'm basically isolated at home. I have almost no social life. I overthink before stepping outside, even if I'm just going to meet friends. My anxiety can get so bad that something as simple as leaving the house feels like a huge task.

Most days I just bed rot.

I don't really have hobbies. I'm academically capable, so I study when I feel like it, but outside of that I don't feel like I'm doing much with my life.

And it's starting to mess with my head.

Everyone around me is talking about university, degrees, careers and their futures, while I'm sitting here feeling like I'm stuck.

I had a dream university. I know I could probably get in, even though finances would be an issue. But my biggest fear isn't even getting accepted. It's my anxiety.

I'm terrified that I'll get into university, my father will spend all that money on me, and I'll end up dropping out or being unable to function because of my social anxiety, just like what happened with college. I don't want his money or sacrifices to go to waste.

So I've made a decision.

Education can wait.

I don't think there's a rule saying I have to start university at 19. I can start later. I want to get myself to a point where I can actually function, socialize, leave the house, and manage my anxiety before I throw myself into university again.

Right now, I want to work on myself.

I want to socialize. I want to go outside without this constant unknown fear. I want to develop hobbies. I want to learn a skill. Most importantly, I want to become financially independent, even if I start extremely small.

Because I genuinely believe I have potential. Other people have told me that too. I just feel like I've spent so much time trapped inside my own head that I haven't had the chance to actually use it.

There's another part of this that probably sounds superficial, but it affects me more than I'd like to admit.

My parents are supportive, but they're quite traditional when it comes to clothing. They don't really let me wear western clothes, even with a scarf. And when you're constantly seeing girls your age dressing however they want, going out, looking presentable and fitting into their surroundings, it can really affect your confidence when you feel like you don't have that choice.

I've always been an extremely low-maintenance child. Despite being a girl, I never really asked my parents for much. But now that I'm older and I do ask for certain things, I sometimes feel unheard. I know they probably don't deliberately mean to make me feel that way, but constantly having to ask again and again eventually makes me stop asking altogether.

I've basically given up on rebelling over these things because I know I'm not going to get very far until I'm independent.

And maybe that's part of why financial independence has become so important to me.

I want to build something of my own, slowly. I want to have some control over my life. Not because I don't love my family I really dobut because I want to eventually be capable of making choices for myself.

Sometimes it honestly makes me sad that this is the "way out" I currently see for myself.

I even find myself praying that I get married relatively young to a genuinely good man who is supportive and understanding. Love marriage is highly discouraged in my family because they believe marriages should happen within the family/community, and I don't really have a say in that. And honestly, I'm okay with leaving that to my parents. I trust my family, I know they love me, and love itself honestly scares me, so I'd rather leave that part of my life in Allah's hands.

But more than anything, I just want to live.

I dream about moving to another city someday. I dream about having my own space, making my own decisions, going places, meeting people and experiencing things without constantly being in fight-or-flight mode.

I genuinely cannot remember a period of my life where I felt like I was simply living for myself without anxiety hanging over everything.

And I know this isn't going to magically change overnight.

I'm shy. I'm extremely dependent on my family because that's how I've grown up. I've spent years avoiding things that scare me, so obviously I'm not going to wake up tomorrow and suddenly become this independent, confident person.

But I want to start.

Small.

Maybe I don't need to figure out my entire career right now. Maybe I don't need to know which university I'll attend or what my life will look like at 25.

Maybe I just need to take one step at a time.

So, if you've read this far, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing from people who have been in a similar position.

How do I actually start building my way out of this?

How do I slowly become more independent when I've been dependent on my family my entire life? How do I start socializing again? What skills are worth learning if I eventually want to become financially independent? How do I work on my anxiety without forcing myself into situations that completely overwhelm me?

And if you've struggled with social anxiety, isolation or feeling like you've fallen behind everyone else, what helped you get your life back?

I don't expect a magical solution. I just want some direction.

I have so many things I want to do with my life. I just need to figure out how to get from here to there.

I'm starting small, and I have faith that Allah will help me along the way.

There has to be a way without having to let go ?

How do you deal with emotionally unavailable people who are still caring and considerate, especially when you get emotionally attached easily and need constant reassurance, without compromising your self respect?

Crashing out bcs i finally confronted

Have any of you with an anxious attachment style ever had to deal with someone who's the complete opposite an avoidant? Whether it was a friendship or a relationship... if so, how did you cope?

The kind of person who tells you they care about you and value you, but it rarely feels that way. The kind who reassures you when you finally work up the courage to tell them their unresponsiveness hurt you, only to repeat the exact same pattern over and over until you're too ashamed to bring it up again.

The kind who seems to miss you only when it's convenient for them. Who can make you feel deeply wanted and completely unwanted at the same time. Who leaves you feeling safe and comforted by the end of every conversation, so you end up blaming yourself for ever thinking they were a bad friend or partner in the first place.

They're so kind and loving whenever they're actually there that when they aren't, you can't even complain about them to anyone else, because all they've ever made you feel is loved. You'd give up parts of yourself just to understand them a little better, yet somehow you fail every single time.

They mean so much to you that you're terrified of losing them, while they never seem to care quite as much. They're so emotionally consuming that all you do is overthink.

Is wanting consistency and availability really too much to ask for?

Help a girl out !!

I know this is a skincare subreddit, but I couldn't think of anywhere else to post this.

I'm not really sure what's going on. For the past couple of weeks, I've been experiencing a lot of hair loss, like a concerning amount. I'm not exactly balding, but it honestly feels like it. I don't know if it's because I recently changed shampoos or if something else is causing it.

At the same time, I've been getting this urge to scrape or pick at my scalp, especially when I'm stressed. For context, I'm an anxious 18-year-old. What started as occasional picking has turned into a habit. I'll peel the skin off my scalp, it'll bleed, and then form a wet, bloody spot (like in the picture). Overnight or after some time, it turns into a flaky, scab-like patch, and then I get the urge to pick at it again. It's become a cycle that just won't stop.

What should I do? I'm definitely planning to see a doctor because Googling and AI have scared me enough already, but is there anything I can do in the meantime to help this heal or stop making it worse?

P.S : My hair in the picture is heavily oiled, and the dandruff you can see is due to this issue only.
