I guess this person never learned how to color within the lines.
Just how do you walk away thinking, yeah, that's good.
Just a friendly reminder, if it's raining, it takes longer to stop so leave a bit more room.
This happened this morning. Driving on 84 into Hartford from the west. I am in the left lane. It's raining. I see brake lights in front, in all lanes. So I start slowing down. Traffic comes to a stop. I slow and stop. I hear what sounds like a car hitting a bump. I look in my mirror and the guy behind me is getting out of his car to go look at the back of his car. He got hit.
There was literally no need for the person to be driving so close. Plenty of traffic, rain, we were only going between 25 and 35 mph.
Then again, probably looking at their phone.
What is your favorite new phrase you saw on Reddit?
For me? I saw someone refer to glitter as rave herpes.
When strangers talk to you... and talk and talk and talk.
Maybe I look like the type of person people feel comfortable talking to. Maybe I give some unknown vibe that I want to engage im conversation.
This happens more times than I care to think about. Sitting in a park, minding my own business, people say hi, I acknowledge them and then they unload their life story to me. I AM HERE TO UNPLUG AND GET AWAY FROM PEOPLE!
This just happened. I need to kill about 30 minutes or so before takeout is ready. Go to a local park. Sit in a covered pavilion as it's raining. Playing with my phone. Guy rides up on a bike. My back it to him. I acknowledge his presence. Then, boom, life story. Not just his life story but he keeps repeating stories. I know he went to jail for driving a stolen car, unbeknownst to him. I know his mother's corn chowder recipe. Then back to the stolen car. Then the knife fight. Then the stolen car. On and on.
A big player in my industry, not a competitor, is holding an all day technology expo.
I figure that since it's close, 30 min from home, it's free and I am familiar with all the products they sell, why not go and see if I can make some new potential contacts.
As anyone who has been in a particular industry for a long time, it is always worth the time to show your face.
How do you do it? Is it just a fact of life and you need to just take it one thing at a time?
Ok, why am I overwhelmed. Wife and I both work full time jobs. No kids at home. I work from home, sales, and she works outside the house.
Right now, we need to replace the 60ish year old windows on the house. So dealing with that. Add on we need to have siding done on the house as well. That is secondary. Add in the in-laws are needing more help, between cancer/brain bleed/fractured back and the other side has a slew of issues plus shoulder surgery. Oh, add in my mother who is always a day away from having issues.
It just seems like every day is another small issue. Maybe I just need to vent. I don't know.
The only positive note, there is money for all the home repairs so no specific financial stress.
I tagged this under politics but it applies to everything.
For instance, gas prices. No one is excited about how high it is. Yet it immediately turns into, Yeah but what about 2021! Biden!
Blah blah blah. Gamma! Blah blah blah.
This is brought to you by the anti bot squad.
Does anyone know what's going on with it? It's been there for years and nothing.
Looks fully built but nothing has ever happened.
Just wanted to give an example of a good company/job vs a bad one.
Randomly, lost power at home. It is 68 and sunny. Grabbed my work phone, went to a local park, and answered emails or teams messages from my phone. Pretty much told everyone I lost power and no one cared. Got takeout for lunch as I didn't want to open the fridge and had a lovely day.
Yes, I know I am privileged to work for a company like this. No, not hiring. Yes, once power came back on, went back home and caught up on any work that I couldn't get to from just my phone. I could have brought my laptop and hot spotted but had nothing critical come in. If I did, would have gone back home.
