Which Maw-grunta build should I make from this box?

Hi everyone!

I’ve just bought the Maw-grunta/Tuskboss box and I’m not sure which option I should build:

  • Tuskboss on Maw-grunta
  • Maw-grunta with Hakkin’ Krew
  • Maw-grunta Gougers

For those who play Ironjawz, which one do you see/use most often in actual games? Is one of the three generally better than the others at the moment?

I’m mainly interested in what’s useful in a normal army rather than just what looks coolest. If there’s a particular build you would recommend for someone starting Ironjawz, I’d really appreciate the advice.

Thanks!

Next Ironjawz purchase: Spearhead or more Brutes?

Hi,

I'm trying to decide what my next Ironjawz purchase should be.

Right now I own:

  • 1x Brutes
  • 3x Brute Ragerz/Wrekkaz
  • 1x Megaboss
  • 3x Ardboyz
  • 1x Tuskboss

I'm considering buying the Spearhead because it's almost the same price as buying a box of Brutes and a box of Brute Ragerz separately. If I do, I'd end up with:

  • 2x Brutes
  • 4x Brute Ragerz
  • 4x Ardboyz
  • 2x Megabosses

The thing is, from the tournament lists I've been seeing, people don't seem to be running many (or any) Ardboyz, and I'd also end up with a second Megaboss that I probably wouldn't use.

Would you still recommend the Spearhead because of the value, or would you just buy Brutes and Brute Ragerz separately? Is there another purchase you'd prioritize instead?

Thanks!

Ironjawz Battleforce

Hi everyone,

I found the Ironjawz Battleforce for €150, and I'm wondering if it's worth picking up.

I already own the Spearhead, so if I buy the Battleforce I'd end up with 30 Ardboyz (10 from the Spearhead and 20 from the Battleforce). That's the main thing making me hesitate.

Is having 30 Ardboyz actually useful in an Ironjawz army, or is that more than I'd realistically ever run?

Would you buy the Battleforce at €150 if you were in my situation, or would you spend the money on other units instead?

Thanks!

Ossiarch Bonereapers Battleforce Null Myriad Phalanx

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about picking up the Ossiarch Bonereapers Battleforce for €150. Do you think it's good value at that price?

I also heard some rumors that Arkhan the Black might get a new miniature in the not-too-distant future. Is there any credibility to that, or is it just community speculation?

Would you still buy this Battleforce today, or would you wait?

Thanks!

Looking for Official-Size Terrain for AoS & 40k

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to buy terrain for both Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000, but I'd like it to match the official dimensions/footprints used for matched play or tournaments as closely as possible.

Are there any complete terrain packs you'd recommend? Ideally something ready to assemble rather than a DIY project—I already spend enough time painting miniatures!

Is there a pack that follows the official layouts or terrain footprints for AoS and/or 40k? Or do I need to buy separate sets for each game?

Thanks!

Best Way to Start Dark Angels After the New Starter Boxes?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to start a Dark Angels army, and I'm a bit unsure what the best value is now that the new 11th edition starter boxes are out.

Would you recommend the new Dark Angels Combat Patrol, one of the new starter boxes, or something else?

My main questions are:

  • Which option gives the best value for money?
  • Which units are actually useful in a Dark Angels army long term?
  • Are there any units that are considered poor choices or likely to sit on the shelf?

I don't think the Armageddon launch box is a good option for me because I don't have anyone to split it with, and I'm not interested in collecting Orks.

I'm aiming to build a solid Dark Angels army rather than just buying whatever is cheapest.

Thanks!

Gordrakk on Maw-Krusha for €45 – Good deal?

Hi! I just bought Gordrakk mounted on Maw-Krusha for €45. Was it a good deal?

It didn't come with the box or sprues. Gordrakk is already painted, while the Maw-Krusha isn't even primed. Overall it seems to be in good condition.

Do you think €45 was a good purchase?

Can these old Space Marines still be used for Dark Angels?

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to start a Dark Angels army, and I found these old Space Marines (photos attached). I've included photos of the assembled models, the box they came in, and I also have a few more still on the sprue.

The three models at the front are metal; the rest are plastic.

Could you help me identify what units these models are supposed to be? I'd also like to know if they can still be used in the current edition of Warhammer 40k, or if they're too old.

If they are still usable, what would be the best way to build the models that are still on the sprue? Which weapon options should I choose? I don't want to glue the wrong loadouts if they won't be legal or useful.

I'm coming from Age of Sigmar, where equipment usually isn't a big deal, but I've heard that in 40k the weapons you build on the models can matter depending on the unit and WYSIWYG.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Planning to learn AoS and 40k together, Ironjawz and Dark Angels

I'm thinking about building an army for both Age of Sigmar and 40k at the same time, and I'd like to hear what you think.

For AoS I'm playing Ironjawz, and for 40k I'm pretty sure I'll go with Dark Angels. Do you think those are a good combination? I like the idea that they're quite different in terms of aesthetics and playstyle.

At the moment I already own around 1,400 points of Ironjawz and 1,500 points of Ossiarch Bonereapers, although I want to put the OBR aside for now and focus on Ironjawz.

The funny thing is... I haven't actually played a single game of either AoS or 40k yet. I've spent a lot of time building and painting, but now I really want to start learning both games.

My girlfriend has about 1,500 points of Seraphon, so my plan would be to finish my Ironjawz army while also building Dark Angels, and learn both systems at the same time. We'd play AoS together, and for 40k I was wondering: would it be reasonable to have her use the Seraphon models as proxies for a 40k army just so I can learn how my Dark Angels work? Obviously just for casual games at home.

Do you think that's a good way to learn? I don't have a local gaming store, so I have to drive quite a while to find games. I'm thinking it might be better to get a handful of practice games in at home first, even if they're a bit rough and full of proxies, before trying to play against experienced people.

One last question: if we're playing 1,500-point games, would you still use the same board size as a 2,000-point game? My idea was to use the normal battleplans and missions, just with fewer points.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially from people who play both AoS and 40k. Thanks!

What should I buy after the Ironjawz Spearhead if I want to build a competitive army?

Hi everyone,

I've just finished building and painting the new Ironjawz Spearhead, and now I'm trying to decide what to buy next.

My goal is to play, not just collect, so I'd like to build towards a solid 2,000-point list as efficiently as possible.

Right now I'm considering a few options:

  • Buy a second Spearhead.
  • Wait in case GW releases another value box.
  • Buy the Battleforce instead.

The thing is, after comparing the contents and prices, it actually seems like a second Spearhead still gives better value than the Battleforce (at least where I live). The downside is ending up with a second Megaboss, although I could probably kitbash or proxy one into an Ardboy Big Boss.

From people who have actually been playing Ironjawz in AoS 4:

  • Is a second Spearhead the best next purchase?
  • Is the Battleforce worth it mainly because of the Maw-Grunta?
  • Are there any "must-have" units I'd be better off buying separately instead?
  • If your goal was to reach a competitive 2,000-point army as quickly as possible, what would you buy after the first Spearhead?

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have been playing the army recently. Thanks! WAAAGH!

New Dark Angels player - where should I start buying?

Hi everyone!

I'm about to start a Dark Angels army from scratch and I'm trying to figure out the best way to begin collecting.

Would you recommend starting with a specific Combat Patrol, or is there a better route nowadays?

I'm also considering the new Armageddon launch box. Would the Space Marine half work well for Dark Angels, or would I end up with several units that don't really fit the army and wouldn't get much use?

I'm not aiming for a super competitive list right away, but I'd like to make smart purchases that I'll still be happy with as the army grows.

Thanks in advance!

Eldar vs Dark Angels vs CSM

Hi everyone!

I'm about to get into Warhammer 40k and I'm trying to decide on my first army.

Originally, I was set on Eldar because I really love their lore and models. However, after reading a lot of opinions saying they're quite difficult for beginners, I've started leaning more towards Dark Angels instead.

What I'm looking for is an army that's fun to play, versatile, and forgiving enough to learn the game without getting punished too hard for mistakes. From what I've read, Dark Angels seem like they might fit that better than Eldar.

For those of you who play them (or have played against them), how fun are Dark Angels? Do they have enough variety in playstyles to stay interesting over time? Would you recommend them as a first army?

The other army I was considering was Chaos Space Marines, so I'd also be interested in hearing how they compare for a beginner.

My plan is still to collect an Eldar army as my second army in the future because I really like them, but for now I'm mainly looking for opinions on whether Dark Angels would be a good first army.
