Working in islamic finance as a non-muslim

Hi all. So I've worked as a Mortgage Adviser for a couple of years now. And, I'm looking at going to live in the Middle East. I want to potentially branch into a different line of work whilst living out there. And, I found the Islamic Finance Qualification provided by the CISI. Would this be useful and increase my chances of say, working for a bank in Qatar, the UAE etc?

Furthermore, as per the title to this post. I'm not a muslim. Would this be an issue?

thanks!

Is Mexican citizenship by descent possible through great great great grandparents?

Assuming an unbroken chain is established. Documents can be found, and a good lawyer. Then, theoretically/ practically, is it possible?

Would the Texas vital stats office accept online notary?

So I’m from the UK. But need to get a family’s birth certificate from the Texas vital statistics office. I’ve called them several times but they’ve only given me vague answers.

Basically, I need to get my mail application notarized. It seems like my only options are to go to the embassy or do it online.

It’s really difficult and expensive to get it notarised at the embassy. Plus there needs to be a witness too. So I want to avoid that route if possible.

But I have no idea if the statistics office even accepts online notaries from overseas applicants. Would they accept it from a UK national getting it notarised by an American notary? And if so, would it still be valid, after I print off the notarised copy?

Sorry if these sound like dumb questions, I really want to get this right to avoid further delays. But the stats office have been quite vague and basically just say “as long as it’s signed and you can find a way to do it online then do that” rather than a yes or no answer.

TLDR: trying to get mail app for Texas vital statistics to be notarised. don’t want to go to embassy as it’s expensive and takes time. Online notaries are available but idk if they’ll be valid and the stats office is quite vague about this.

Is the UK a morning country compared to elsewhere?

FYI. I’m not a morning person at all. So living in the UK is difficult as culturally it does feel like a lot of things are centred around doing things early in the morning. Plus, people take pride in waking up early here I feel.

Whenever I go to continental Europe, it feels like places don’t open til 10/11am. Shut during the afternoon, then stay open TIL late in the evening or if it’s a bar, it’ll be like 4am til it closes.

Here, pubs close at 11/12 on weekends. Cafes open at 8am, close at 4. Shops open anywhere between 7-9-am and close at 5.
Supermarkets are the exception as they seem to universally open/ close at the same time no matter where you are in Europe.

Does anyone else feel like the UK is quite rigid with opening/ closing times and that if your circadian rhythm differs slightly, then it is difficult to fit in?

Are other countries like this?

TLDR: not a morning person. UK has a morning culture. When I go abroad it feels different but is it an illusion or are other countries actually different with this?

Will Baku go ahead this year?

We're getting close to the Grand Prix now and the Iran war shows no signs of slowing down.

I think Qatar & abu dhabi are still out of the question at this point but what about Baku. They border Iran, and they seem to be a somewhat neutral country. However, would F1 risk having the race there? A high profile event like that could make them a target. Especially as Liberty Media, an American company, owns F1 these days.

Notarising mail application to Texas Vital Stats Office. UK national. UK based.

I'm trying to get my great grandfathers birth certificate (he's dead) from the vital statistics office in Texas. It turns out, i need my application to be notarised. Would the embassy be the best way to do this or are there other ways?

A few sources online have said I can use a local UK notary in my area ( I don't live in London). But I'm not sure if I want to risk using one just for my application to be rejected.

so what should I do. Am i better off just going to the embassy and doing it, or could I do it locally. The Vital statistics website is quite vague about this.

What are my chances of US citizenship? Or a green card?

Right so you may have seen my posts about Mexican citizenship.

I have a grandfather who was born in the US. Lived there until he was 17/18. Moved to the UK and after a few years, he got British citizenship.

Now, the fun part is, he says that he renounced it. But it is unclear as to whether he did so officially or only ceremoniously when he naturalised for UK citizenship. AFAIK, to renounce US nationality officially you need to receive a certificate of loss of nationality, and there's a fee as well as a formal process to doing it.

If he never renounced it, that would mean he still has US citizenship. Which then means, my father is also a US citizen too right?

Where would this leave me? Would I be eligible for citizenship? How about a green card?

And perhaps, most importantly, how do i try and find out whether he received this certificate or not? He's not all there these days so i'm not sure if asking directly would help.

Finally, if he did renounce it, would that make my father completely ineligible for US citizenship?

I have a complicated case for Mexican citizenship...

So i'm told that you can potentially be eligible for Mexican citizenship as long as a chain is established, and that this chain can be unlimited.

For my situation, I have possibly a great great grandparent from Mexico, but definitely great great great grandparents from Mexico.

I have found baptism records for them but as they were born before digitalisation of birth records, they do not appear on public records.

Furthermore, I'm not even sure if the birth records exist as they may have been born before they became mandatory.

Would the baptism records be enough to prove their birth in Mexico? If not, is there anything I can do? Can I somehow get a posthumous birth certificate?

Realistically, what are my chances of getting citizenship at this point. I've seen cases of people getting it through a great great grandparent before. And under mexican law it says if you can establish a chain, then it's unlimited due to Jus sanguinis laws.

Also, a bit unrelated but I've seen cases in canada where they're like 7 generations removed from a Canadian citizen and they got approved. Canadian birth certificates didn't even get introduced til the 1860s and some of these peoples ancestors were born in the 1700s! So they must have found a way to prove where they were born besides just baptism.

Surely there must be a way to get their birth verified right? I won't give up on this unless it is literally impossible for me to obtain the citizenship. Even if my chances of citizenship are less than 1%. As long as they're not 0 I'm still gonna try lmao.

Someone help please.

Should I go to Palermo or Toulouse? Not sure which to choose.

Hi all,

Not sure which of these 2 to pick. Flights from Rome are very cheap to both of these places.

Would be visiting one of them for 4 nights.

I'm intrigued by Toulouse because of it's aviation museum and history. Plus the architecture looks cool.

I'm intrigued by Palermo as Sicily in general looks whimsical and it's a mix of different cultures. Plus the food, I've heard is very good.

Long story short,I'm flying into Rome for 2 nights (already been there) and was going to go somewhere in Asia. Now can't afford it so am thinking of doing a Euro trip instead.

I'm unsure which of these 2 to pick though so need some opinions.

I am a vegetarian, do these two cities provide good vegetarian options besides just bread cheese and fries? lol

Thanks!

I've been attending F1 races since 2010. AMA

I've been to 11 races ranging from 2010-2025 at 4 different circuits (Silverstone, Zandvoort, Spa & Qatar). Ask me anything you want about it.

What are some of the most extreme examples of citizenship by descent that you have heard of?

As in how long ago/ how many generations ago did/ does that country allow.

But also from an individual perspective. Do you know of anybody who has managed to claim citizenship from an ancestor that was a great great grandparent or even further beyond?
