POV: I brought you to a cute little coffee shop
Which camera do you prefer when backing up, the left or middle?
Im wanting to upgrade my 2015 Fit EX so it has Apple CarPlay, however im not sure if I should pay $1000 to keep lanewatch + backup camera, or pay $500 for the unit that loses lane watch but still keeps the backup camera.
The two I found that seem perfect are the Sony XAV 9000es (keeps lanewatch and backup camera) and Sony XAV 4000 which loses lanewatch but keeps the backup camera. If I trade this in the future, I’m worried disabling lanewatch would hurt it? I never use lanewatch myself so personally I’m fine with saving $500, but eventually I would want to trade this in.
As a local, do you feel that SF is actually one of the most walkable, transit friendly cities in the U.S.?
It’s always ranked high on different lists, but as a local, do you agree that it’s more walkable and transit friendly than cities like Chicago, DC, and Boston, etc, which are often ranked around or even below SF?
There’s an actual human inside this billboard (Los Angeles)
Am I being treated differently because of my race or is it in my head?
I’m mixed black and white and noticed that since I moved to LA I feel like I’m treated differently than everyone else. Store owners and baristas will either not say hi at all, or just a hi and take my order and that’s it, but literally almost every other person they smile and ask how their day is or start small talk. I also notice in crowded spaces people will not sit directly next to me, but have no issue sitting close to others, and I notice they always put their bags opposite of them or scoot it away when I’m by them but they don’t seem to do that for others. This guy sitting near me at a cafe had a cute dog that he had no issue having other people compliment his dog and he would tell them all about it, his reaction was different when I said his dog was beautiful. He literally said “what?” and when i repeated it with a smile he said “oh” and looked away. When I try being nice like offering my seat or holding the door, people literally don’t say a word or look at me like I’m weird. I observe other people though and their interactions are so much more pleasant, and people are always starting small talk with each other. When lived in Chicago and DC, I’ve gotten lots of compliments on my style, skin and people ask about my skincare routine, and will smile and start small talk. But those cities have a large black population where in LA I often feel like we aren’t as visible in trendy neighborhoods. I’m wondering if it’s all in my head, but it really hurts because I’m not used to it. I don’t expect people to be bubbly and friendly to me, but going out of the way to make me feel invisible (if this is the case) is a knife to the heart.
2015 Honda Fit, there was a light high pitched whistle sound when turning right on bends and random whistles when driving straight, it’s not all the time but I just started noticing it. Any idea what this could be?
I’m assuming it’s something to do with my brakes?
Is there really any benefit to walking 9000-10000 steps a day (normal steps, not exercising)?
I walk about 9500-10000 steps a day because I’m always exploring my city. Is there really any benefit? I moved from a small town where I averaged 2k steps a day, and now for the past 21 weeks I’ve consistently walked above 9000 steps without trying.
I don’t think that’s a parking spot, mate!
I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know how to cook, but what tools do I need to get started?
I’m going to go to the store and get what I need to be able to cook anything, I don’t want a bunch of fancy tools, but literally don’t know what to get and was hoping someone here can give me an idea of what to buy. Like i literally only know about pans but don’t understand the different sizes and depths and what they’re for exactly except for like frying eggs
Any recommendations for an Apple CarPlay unit that works with the blind spot/turn signal and backup cameras on a 2015 Fit?
Pic of my fit exploring the open road!
What are some interesting hidden gems not too far from LA, with interesting history?
For example any ruins of old towns, old missile sites or bunkers from wars that happened decades ago, or mysterious landmarks that seem to have been forgotten? Looking for hidden gems outside of LA, like within 2-3 hours of the city limits?
Any good spots to see sea lions/seals?
I thought Marina Del Rey was a popular spot for them but I didn’t see any. Is it only certain times a year?
Do people actually get ticketed for parking on street sweeping days?
I always see cars parked during street sweeping hours in my neighborhood, but I’ve also never seen a street sweeper, and the street never looks like it’s been cleaned. I’m wondering if my neighborhood just doesn’t street sweep, and most people know it so they don’t move their cars? Or are people just paying tickets? One of my new neighbors asked me the other day if people don’t care about tickets or if he could actually park on the street during sweeping hours, so I’m not the only one wondering this!
