[North Alabama, NO shipping] recapped LC1 w/ 6.0.8 HDD, kb, mouse || open to trading for SEGA stuff

Open to selling or trading

Does what it says on the tin, I guess. This was my first SMD recap job; I think it turned out well except for one spot where I scorched the solder mask. There was mild damage from the leaky electrolytic caps; I had to clean up the legs of a couple chips and scrape off some infected solder mask (I then tinned it and covered it with nail polish). The PSU was fairly nuked by cap leakage; I did my best to clean it out and replaced the electrolytics. I made a post about that venture [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/VintageApple/s/mU5Q6EpMIs). I cleaned the floppy drive, replaced the gear, and relocated it. I was able to get it to read some Mad disks and some 800k disks I wrote with my plus; however it is largely inconsistent / unreliable. I can’t even get it to format a disk.

There is a tear in the cable of the mouse. On the keyboard I had to repair a few keys with glue; I don’t recall exactly which. Both work fine.

Aside from the FDD issue, the system works well. I have run it for several hours at a time without issue. Sometimes I have to reseat the PSU plug after reassembling the machine, but it works. HDD hasn’t given me any grief but I haven’t run it through any diagnostics.

Open to trading for Sega stuff; I have a Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast but would like their other consoles. Open to trading for Genesis cartridges as well as peripherals for Genesis / Sat / DC.

Got my first 8” diskettes today, then my first 8” drive!

Saw the sealed diskettes for $15 locally on marketplace and of course had to pick them up. Then of course I had to free them from the packaging. I was showing a friend and he showed me an old drive he had sitting around. So I traded him my spare faulty CBM 1571 for it! Definitely would love any and all advice on getting the drive up and running. I know it needs at least a new belt and felt head.

Wowwwwwww, never thought I’d see these again. Memories connected to them all. I had my own equivalents of each, but I think they were all donated at some point. I’ve searched the storage at my parents house so many times trying to find them.

There are five us kids (now adults aged 21-33), and we never had gameboys or a DS. But we had nearly every North American iteration of Tama from the original connection through to the Tama Go. And I have no regrets! There was something special about the little pocket buddy you could take care of and raise. Surfing the official website (and the disc that came with the 4.5) furthered the magic of this cute little world full of silly little critters. At one point I was even active on a web forum (tamatalk?) and internet relay chat.

My sister remembers getting either the music star or the special 4.5 as a “consolation prize” for one of her eye surgeries. I have FOND memories of the Tama Go. I remember it being poorly received at the time. Japan had full color tamagotchis for a while at that point. Meanwhile the Go had a fairly weak speaker + screen. But to me it was the most detailed Tama up to that point, and the form factor was cool. I told my sister we HAD to get them, and after somehow coming up with $20 each, we ordered them. I remember turning the face decals around on mine so they were plain white - I was less receptive to “cutesy” stuff as a preteen. Somehow still loved Tamas, though. There’s also some damage to the chain link on the 4.5 where I tried to pry it off, and teeth marks where I tried to remove the star.

Anyways, after several searches I wrote off the Tamas as lost to time. My sister was at my parents place with me today, and wanted me to help her look for some of our old Play-Doh toys for her kids. And look what we FOUND!

She told me to keep the 4.5!!! She’s glad I like it and she’ll get to play the cloud jump game when I visit her or vice versa. She’s a bit busy with two toddlers to be parenting a Tama on top 😅.

RIP to my early connections, v5, Tama Go, and Music Star. I hope they found good homes if I did indeed donate them!
