Swimming in salt water: do most guys shave?
I will be doing 12 swims in 6 days. I don’t much care what I look like, but does salt water sting if you shave too close?

It was from my late father in law, and it seems to be in working order
I am a hobbyist and mostly shoot architecture and monuments on holiday. I have a canon 7D mark 1, and a revel t3. I want a larger sensor so if I shoot the best pic ever, I can blow it up. I would like to spend 200$ Canadian, or be less. I was thinking about a canon 5? Any other full frames you can think of?
I mean, do you wear them to walk in on a rocky beach, or swim wearing them?
Just booked a flight to Sicily, and I got a decent price, but I am wondering what the industry trends are…I don’t think this is low effort, I truly don’t know where else to look.
Anyone else suffer from this? Obviously rest is the main thing, and I will see an MD, but what sort of time line am I looking at?
I am crazy for ancient history. I imagine Agrigento will be overrun with tourists, but Segesta or Selinute are smaller and, well, prettier. Any advice?
I am crazy for ancient history, and my feeling is that Agrigento is bigger, and more famous, but not quite a cute as either Segesta or Selinute. The last two will have fewer tourists I imagine. What do you folks think?
I bought a rash guard tee shirt at Walmart and tested it today. It was horrid. It was very loose, bunched up at my shoulders and when I pushed off, it caught the water and seemed to want to choke me! I could take the sleeves off, but is there anything else I can do?
In a pool, if I stop for a rest I get a big boost of energy after a really brief rest. Like, 5 seconds. It improves my energy, my posture, my stroke, everything. How do you get that in open water?
63 yo man, in very good shape. I will be doing my first solo trip to Europe, and I am anxious. I will fly to Palermo, stay a couple of days and then take a train to Milazzo and a ferry to the island of Vulcano. I will spend 6 days swimming and hiking, then likely fly home from Catania. I speak rough Italian. I am looking forward to it, but what if I twist an ankle, or fall asleep and miss my train…I have been to Europe loads of times with never even a broken finger nail…but I am still anxious
It seems to me that had he imposed them only on Canada and Mexico, and cancelled CUSMA, then it would have been very difficult for Canada and Mexico to find other trading partners. But, luckily, he drove the rest of the world to trade with each other. This makes it much easier to sell things abroad. Canadian soy beens can now be shipped to China for ex.
I am in pretty good shape, swim 6 times a week, resting heart beat of 42. But my knees make climbing stairs painful
I would love to see North Africa and I will be in Palermo in mid Sept. has anyone been, how did you find it? (Please don’t say “I turned left at Suez”). I am crazy for Punic Roman history.
So they gave me a training schedule and I am trying to follow it. It says I am supposed to do 2.5km per day ramping up to 5km. So I am beginning to find it difficult bc of the time commitment. So I asked them if I can split it into two sessions, morning and afternoon. They informed me that those are weekly totals, not daily ones….
I am increasing my distance, doing 2.5 km a day every day. I am getting slightly stiff traps. I imagine this has to do with lifting my head to see where I am going. Does that make sense, and if so how do I deal with it?
Many thanks.
Now, I am no longer apprehensive. Now I am scared. There was a great white spotted in the made between Sicily and Tunisia. Also, what if I get entangled with a shopping cart (trolley) all covered in algae and rust? What if a sword fish attacks? Or what if I turn my head to breath and gulp a liter of salt water…. Or get hit by a taxi in Palermo…should I cancel it?
Yesterday you folks suggested dizziness might be caused by water in my ears. Well, I used wax plugs and the problem is gone. Thanks everyone.
