I shot Green Jello (Green Jelly for legal reasons 😜) recently, the self-proclaimed “World’s Worst Band.”

It’s going to take a lot to dethrone this as the craziest shoot I’ve ever done. Pool noodles were flying everywhere, inflatables obscured every band member, and I’m sure this was several fire hazard nightmares all rolled into one (both giant inflatables on each side of the floor eventually made their way onto the crowd as the audience carried them across the room). Something tells me that the venue isn’t inviting them back for any future shows. 😝🤔

Today I found out that Grasshopper had a hand in making Sine Mora, which is weird because games attached to Suda 51 are usually so visually stylish and distinct… so… WTF happened with Sine Mora? In addition to the fact that it serves as a checklist of features to avoid (unless you WANT to make a Euroshmup for some reason), it’s honestly one of the least visually-appealing shmups by my tastes. 🤷‍♂️😬

Do I need to give it a second chance? 🤔

I think it’s because of how some of my previous editors would tend to favor more “honest” photos with minimal editing (no Photoshop filters, no lens filters, etc.), but I decided to just go all out with this one. I’ve always wanted to try some sort of faux double exposure shots, plus, I’ve been itching to try out more shots with lens filters. I think they can result in some unique framing and they can help fill in empty spaces as well.

Besides, this band is so over-the-top with their visual presentation. I think that anything goes with bands like these. 🎃

So, yeah. Sorry/not sorry for more halo filter slop. 😜

P.S.: Please refrain from bringing up any past drama in regards to this band’s history. I don’t believe in cancel culture. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt. Besides, I was there to take photos of a band. That’s all. 🤘🥲🤘

Damn, was that a good show. No offense to anyone who played guitar after Gravy, but the earlier songs just sound so right when he plays them. 🤘

Anyway, I recently got to shoot Crystal Lake for a local publication on their final tour date on their U.S. Summer tour with Jinjer and Entheos.

They are currently without a permanent lead vocalist. Myke Terry (he is in several bands) was the fill-in vocalist for this show. He’s no Ryo Kinoshita but I have to admit that Myke did the songs justice.

Here are a couple of pics from the shoot. I got a picture with the band at the end of the night too. 😅

I recently got to take photos for a local publication.

It was my first time being in the photo pit for Jinjer and actually my first time catching them live as well. Not sure why I waited so long. Damn, was that a good show. 🤘😎🤘

Jinjer was amazing! I’m not sure why I waited so long before watching them live. Anyway, I covered them for a local publication.

In regards to the photos, it was also the first time I tried using some lens filters for some of these shots. I didn’t want to waste time screwing them on and off during the first three songs, so, I had one in each pocket and just used them as hand-held filters… which worked out much better because the effects don’t all sit in the same spot in each shot I used the filters on.

Nemophila quickly became one of my favorite bands to watch during the era of “quarantine video” style performances, so it meant a lot to me to get a photo pass for their first show in Chicago. 🤘😊🤘

How often does this happen that this bakery needed to make a sign to tell people to refrain from doing this?? 🤔

My brother and I were filming a Let’s Play video for this indie game (Dark Scrolls) and thought that this might be a reference to Frank and the whole troll toll thing.

I mean, they have that one three-headed meme dragon as a boss and a character that’s just barely legally distinct enough from a certain Final Fantasy mage, so, who knows? 🤷‍♂️😅🤔
