before i watched banana fish, i listened to the soundtrack, and my favorite was Blue Bird. After watching, i defintely favored Freedom, and now my favorite is probably Red! They're all such great songs tho :D I really overlooked Him and Hym before I watched it, but now with context, i've found a new appreciation for that song.
hi! I’m very new to the banana fish community and I was wondering the significance of flower bouquets, I know eiji holds one in the airport going back to Japan, but before I watched it I thought I would see more of them! That’s because I often see art of ash or eiji holding a bouquet of roses, and there’s a figure of ash holding a bouquet of sunflowers. :p

after watching I IMMEDIATELY picked up my pencil aaand here we are 🥹 tomorrow I’ll tweak ash’s jaw and eyes + the shadows on both boys especially on eiji’s cheeks because right now it’s looking asymmetrical 🥲

I’ve been recommended (and read) paradise kiss and princess jellyfish and I liked them but they weren’t really what I was looking for.
Nana has this really bittersweet and regretful feeling because it’s told by the two MCs looking back into the past, and they kind of add commentary about it as their present selves, and that’s a big reason I really love nana!
otherwise, some vastly different series that I also enjoyed a lot are No. 6 and When Marnie was There (this one’s a studio ghibli film)

It’s a scene of Hachi’s inner thoughts, and she’s talking about how everyone is looking for Nana and she wishes she was too, but she won’t look for her because she’s afraid if she reached out she would be pushed away. It’s definitely one of the later volumes, probably 19,20, or 21 but if anyone could help me narrow it down I would appreciate it!!💕

Sorry I don’t have a picture— tho a pic would be spoilers anyway but I love when art scenes are from MCs POV, (so we don’t see the mc in the artwork, we see what they are seeing) not only do i just think this is a great way to include art scenes but it’s also smart for whe you can customize your mc and they look nothing like the default (which is often the case for me)
The Infected does this super well in my opinion, I love the art scenes in that story sm!
For the most part I know it’s lighting/filters over the artwork, but this one, their hair is very brown in the big drawings, but in the bottom right corner, the xmas drawing, it’s their signature orange and peach/pink hair. Anyone know why that is? (I didn’t read the manga sorry💔)

I recently finished reading Last Quarter and this guy’s (Tomoki) appearance kinda reminded me of highschool Takumi, and their names are kinda similar too, and his gf (when she was younger) looks like Hachi a little! I loved seeing this kinda parallel, especially because Mizuki (his gf) is avoidant while Hachi is anxiously attached so they’re kinda opposite :p
