Got roasted on another sub today when I was looking for advice on my bangs, so I cut them even shorter

I was asking for advice on how to shape my bangs better in the second photo and was told bangs are not for me and I should grow them out. No thank you. I cut them even shorter and I love them. Do what makes you happy!

What can I do to make my bangs more flattering?

I cut my own bangs and I realize they're a bit wide and straight across. I'm not totally sure how to cut them to make them look more flattering. I also don't style my hair really ever, so not looking for anything that would need more than a basic blow dry. Any advice on how to cut them better is welcomed! Side note, I'm growing out short hair so I know the cut itself is a bit of a mess but currently just want to know about bangs

Is anyone else super sensitive to side effects?

I feel insane when I tell the people in my life what sort of stuff I feel when I started these meds or any time I increase. Last year, I increased from 10 to 20 and my THERAPIST told me what I was feeling wasn't normal and maybe I should stop taking them. I ignored her and listened to my psych instead who I trust very much, and wouldn't you know after 6 weeks things improved SO much. Now I'm increasing to 40 due to some stubborn ocd and going through it again and it feels like no one really understands. Anyone I personally know who has taken ssris or the like have just felt nothing at all for weeks and then it either works or doesn't. I genuinely don't know anyone who suffered from the stuff I deal with. It's like I get every side effect you can imagine and it's hell for like 2 months. Surely it's not just me! It's not just viibryd, either. I've been on about 10 different medications in the ssri and snri class and they're all similar with the side effects.

How have your opinions on characters changed as you got older?

I first watched buffy in my teens. Now I'm in my mid 30s and on my 4th or so rewatch. There's certain characters I loved on my first watch that I now feel very differently about. The biggest one is Angel, Buffy was literally a child, yikes! I know it was a different time but still lol. I also hated Riley, but rewatching I feel like he really wasn't too bad (annoying yes, but no worse than anyone else). Curious to hear other thoughts on how your opinions changed over time!

I was told my bangs are cut too wide, but I'm trying to cover up an evil hairline.. Any advice??

I was recently told my bangs are cut way too wide, but in the second photo you can see why.. I'm not balding, it's just the way my hairline has always been. I don't want the sides of my forehead showing. Any advice on what I could do differently if my bangs are looking too wide? I typically do kind of spread them out a bit so they cover the visible skin.

Experiences with chicken allergies and royal canin hydrolyzed protein cat food?

My cat is struggling with allergies and our vet thinks it could be food related. He scratches his face and ears and has been getting ear infections back to back. He also has issues with gas. I switched him to a novel protein diet but he got diarrhea for weeks so I took him off of it. We just started royal canin hydrolyzed protein dry food a couple weeks ago but his scratching has been worse the past couple of days. It might just be a fluke and I know it can take 8-12 weeks to see any result, but we do suspect chicken is the culprit. Has anyone had good luck with royal canin hydrolyzed protein and chicken allergies? From what I understand the chicken fat in it shouldn't cause issues but just curious if anyone else has gone through this.

New growth, breakage, or a secret third thing?

Hey all,

I've noticed over the last few months I've had an increase in short hairs sticking up all over my head. There's a few factors that could be related to this. Last year my thyroid was off and I did lose some hair, I got it to a good level maybe last August. In January I started taking b12 supplements, I showed symptoms of being low and tested low in the past so I started them again. Also, around January I started eating meat again after being vegetarian for over a decade. So with all of these I'm kind of hoping this could be new growth?

Any thoughts are appreciated. I'm currently in a very humid climate so that's clearly making it more noticeable. I'm asking a lot here but please don't flame me when I say I'm using mane n tail shampoo and conditioner. I have oily hair with dry ends and I'm also sensitive to certain ingredients that I haven't pinpointed, a lot of shampoos cause this allergy like scalp itching. Treseme made my scalp itch so bad and made my hair look greasy. I loved Paula's choice fragrance free shampoo and conditioner and they got rid of it!

Anyway, happy to hear recs for fragrance free shampoos and conditioners. I can't do sulfate free because nothing seems to clean well enough for me. Am I growing new hair in or am I just a dry frizzy person?

Additional info: I rarely ever put my hair up, I use a satin pillowcase, and I use a microfiber towel to dry my hair. I haven't changed anything in my routine. And lastly, sorry for the scalp photo jump scare

Feel sort of dumb asking this, but are my bangs too wide?

I got bangs cut last year and it's been an ordeal learning to trim them regularly myself. I was planning on letting maybe 1/2" wide on both sides grow to right under my eyebrows to give it more shape. I don't want them too narrow or I'll be annoyed with feeling hair on my face/wind up putting it behind my ears, but also don't want them to look weirdly wide! I also have some "bald" looking patches on the sides that I'm trying to cover up. Am I over thinking or what?

Question about herbal teas and synthroid

Hey all!

I take my synthroid before bed, and don't eat anything for at least 3 hours prior. I've read some mixed things about tea and synthroid, and from what I understand caffeine affects absorption but the tannins in tea do as well. I sometimes drink peppermint or chamomile tea a couple hours before bed, but I'm curious if anyone knows if that should interact with my meds. My endo wasn't really sure.

I have super sensitive skin and was diagnosed with type 2 rosacea. My Dr wanted me to try metro gel but I had read such good things about ivermectin that I decided to buy Walgreens otc ivermectin first. Within a week my skin was significantly more clear. I never had worsening of symptoms. I've been using it nightly for a year and I highly recommend it!! I still have some residual redness and it seems to clog my skin a bit so I just ordered generic prescription soolantra to see if that will give me even more improvement. But after seeing these photos I had to remind myself how far I've come. It's so easy to get down on yourself or always try to achieve perfection. If the prescription ivermectin does help even more I'll update, but if it doesn't.. I can live with that :)

Hey all! I have this rug that's a mix of polyester and another synthetic material. The instructions say to avoid soaking as I guess the backing can get ruined. I need to give it a good cleaning but I'm unsure how? I have a Bissell carpet cleaning machine and was wondering if anyone's successfully used a carpet cleaning machine on a rug like this without ruining it? I was thinking if I use only water and make sure to extract most of it, then put the ceiling fan on high? Appreciate any input!

I've been using otc Walgreens ivermectin for my type 2 rosacea for about a year now with good results, but my skin is so sensitive and I think the Walgreens formula is too pore clogging for me. I've started developing some sebaceous hyperplasia, and my skin isn't where I want it to be. I'm considering trying soolantra (or the generic equivalent) but I've read mixed things on this sub. Has anyone tried both and preferred soolantra?

Hey all,

I've been on antidepressants for 25 years now. I've been on and off about 10 different pills. Each time I experienced really difficult side effects. Sometimes I quit early on due to side effects. Never once did I take a pill, have no side effects and just wake up better a month later. Some people just aren't built that way. I just wanted to offer some reassurance that it really can get better even if it gets significantly worse at first. And it can stay worse, for a month or more, before it improves. My timeline is typically 4 weeks until I see any sort of improvement at all, and 8-10 weeks until negative side effects pass (if they're going to.) because I'm so sensitive to med changes, each time I increase I try to make it during a time I can clear my calendar for a solid 6 weeks outside of any necessary obligations like work.

I'm by no means an expert but I see a lot of posts asking if side effects are normal or people saying they stopped the medication after a week because their anxiety got worse. It's likely going to get worse temporarily, especially if you have anxiety or ocd. And that sucks really bad! I get it. Drs say it takes 6-8 weeks to work but I really wish they also say you may experience a worsening of your mental illness in the mean time. If side effects aren't so severe that you're unable to function, do try to stick it out.

Viibryd had been life changing for me, and I've very slowly increased it. Currently I'm increasing from 30 to 40 and all of the side effects are back. And I want to quit but I won't because I know it's better on the other side. I wish all of you the best and I hope viibryd is the medication for you. Please make sure to let a couple of friends or family members know that you're starting or increasing medication so you can lean on them during this time. And be kind to yourselves. Just some advice from an old mentally ill lady!

Hey all,

I'm a few sessions into ipl. I don't usually shave my legs with an actual razor, only electric, because I get nasty bumps and ingrown hairs. They're mostly skin colored and hard to photograph but there are some slightly red ones as well. With ipl I'm using a razor. I'm exfoliating beforehand, using a gentle shaving cream, and moisturizing after ipl. Even so, I'm getting bumps mostly on my inner knee area. I've read if it's folliculitis antibacterial soap or tea tree oil can help (also benzoyl peroxide but don't want to use any chemical exfoliants while using IPL). Are either of those options safe to use in the days before ipl/after ipl? I tried taking a couple weeks off using it but no matter what the bumps come back when I shave again so I think I need to power through. No broken skin and no pus in them, just small bumps! Also.. If it doesn't look like folliculitis I'm happy to hear any other suggestions as to what could cause it. Maybe it's best to do nothing?

Thanks :)
