Finished Blood Reaver and wanted to give some thoughts + a review

(Some spoilers for Blood Reaver under the spoiler marker things)
So making this post a day after because work was busier than usual yesterday lol. The first thing I’m gonna start with is my rating of it! All in all I think this is a solid 8.5/10. I believe the first book was just a bit better but still very very close in terms of quality.

Secondly, want to start this section with >!rip hound you were a real one and your death was more sad than I thought it would be.!<
So it was interesting getting to see how large the Red Corsairs were even after the Badab war. Didn’t expect them to have a force for chaos only second in size to Abbadons Black Legion. It was also interesting to see the dynamic of marines from the founding legions (Nightlords in this case)
and the “thinbloods” of a successor chapter. Speaking of “thinbloods” Varriel! He just might be the goat. Interesting seeing him >!betray the corsairs and be welcomed into the Nightlords.!<
So I’m wondering what the history between him and Talos was that convinced him to do that.
Next up, Septimus! Another contender for being the goat. Forgot to mention him in my post about the first book in the series but I will mention him now. Fixing everyone’s armor >!except Ruvans of course, and piloting gunships/transports.!<
It’s very refreshing getting the chapters featuring him or Octavia. Both of them are just fun characters in general and the dynamic between the two is great. Lastly, can’t forget him Vandread. >!Loved seeing him overpower the soul of the demon controlling his body then giving the demon one last fuck you by returning control to it as they died.!<
As always I’m down for book recommendations especially for ones after I finish the last book in the trilogy. Thank you!

Started doing options last month not doing bad so far

For reference I started doing options when I had 1.2k saved up. Currently up to 1.3k. I haven’t really had much of a strategy which is something I should ask for advice on. The options I have been doing are covered call/puts. And the stocks I have been buying the options on are just what I could afford but looking ahead to see if they are trending down or up. I hold on to the stocks I do buy until I make a profit. Do y’all have any advice on things to look for and any general advice for a newish investor?

Just finished Konrad Curze: The Night Haunter and wanted to share my thoughts

So firstly, I think this is a really good primearch book. It gives you a great perspective on the way Curze thinks. Throughout the book you also get the perspectives of humans that (unfortunately for them) encountered Curze. We get perspectives of him from when he was The Night Haunter dispensing his judgment on Nostramo >!(and eventually his judgement on the planet itself)!<. Another one is from when >!he is found in the stasis pod on the freighter after the heresy.!<
My favorite perspective of him is when he’s >!talking to the flesh sculpture he made of the emperor and is mostly talking to himself until the emperor speaks to him.!<
Secondly, my rating for the book itself. I’d honestly give it an 8/10. I think it’s a tad bit better than Angrons primearch book but not by to much (I’m a bit biased as a World Eaters fan).
Lastly, I’m a bit more interested in the Night Lords than I was before. I think after I go back to a HH book or 2 I’ll then move on to the Nightlords trilogy that I’ve only heard good things about.
Thank you!

Wanted to know if Curzes book was a good one to start with for the Nightlords?

So this past month I’ve been actually listening to the books instead of just watching/listening to videos and podcasts. I’m mainly a World Eaters fan, so I started with Angron: The Red Angel, The First Heretic, Know no Fear, Angron:Slave of Nuceria, and finally Betrayer. I’m kinda interested in the Nightlords not as much as the Death Guard or the World Eaters but I’ve heard their books were good and wanted to get into them. So I figured I might as well start with the primearch book.

Just finished Betrayer and wanted to give my thoughts (FUCK EREBUS)

So first off it is a great book, if u haven't read it I highly recommend it (FUCK EREBUS). I think this is my second favorite Warhammer book I've read so far ((The First Heretic is hard to beat imo) FUCK EREBUS). Id honestly give it a 9/10 (FUCK EREBUS). Secondly, I loved >!seeing Angron's progression emotionally throughout the book (FUCK EREBUS). I loved seeing him go from not really respecting Lorgar at all, to still disliking him but respecting him anyway, to defending him from his sons who started attacking Lorgar telling them to "GET AWAY FROM MY BROTHER" (FUCK EREBUS).!< Also I now understand the significance of rule 6 (FUCK EREBUS).

I don't really have much more to say besides BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD and FUCK EREBUS >!YOU KILLED THE BEST WORD BEARER. I WILL BE REPLAYING THE EPILOUGE 8 MORE TIMES JUST TO LISTEN TO EREBUS GETTING HIS ASS BEAT.!< I'm not really to sure what book I wanna move to next now that I've finished this "trilogy" of The First Heretic, Know no Fear, and Betrayer. On the one hand I could read more into the modern setting with like Shroud of Night. On the other hand I could just continue through the HH and then into Kharn the Betrayer. Suggestions are welcome, thank you!

I’m at the point of Betrayer where they are on Nuceria and had a question or two

The month leading up to them landing there was Angron actually enjoying his legions company? He was drinking with them, laughing with them, and watching them fight in the arena. Also is Lorgar the only brother he respects? I know he doesn’t like any of them but he said he respected Lorgar. He also actually gave him permission to save him (unfortunately the way he “saves” him isn’t good”)

Does every John Grammaticus chapter feel like it drags on a bit to long?

Finished Know no Fear today and since this is the first book I listened to with a chapter featuring him, I wanted to ask. I know he’s dotted throughout the HH but just wanted to know if I should prepare for that for the rest of the series or not.

Finished Know no Fear don’t really have many thoughts about it but I’ll post regardless

First, it took a bit for me to get used to the start of the book with the rapid fire “mark xx.xx.xx”. I did end up appreciating them later on it was just different compared to the other books I’ve listened to so far. Second, it’s a solid 8/10 book for me. Wasn’t really emotionally attached to any of the characters except for maybe the 2 admech that were “life partners”. It was nice getting to see Guilimans actual character instead of the memes where he’s “tired spreadsheet man”. Interesting also seeing how much the ultramarines refused to believe they were being betrayed until they figured out the Campineele wasn’t an accident. Finally, what emotions besides fear do space marines not really feel like regular humans do? It seems like they know hope, despair, pain, and grief. I’m just not sure what other emotions they really feel and am curious to know. Next question, are dreadnauts almost completely blind if all there sensors go down?

Small update to my last post about Know no Fear

I’ve now gotten used to the flow of the book. I’m also enjoying it so far. Prior to starting this book wasn’t really interested in the Ultramarines (still not really) but my opinion has softened on them. My opinion on Guilliman has softened as well. I don’t think I’m gonna like this one more than The First Heretic, but it’s a solid book anyway.

Just finished Angron: Slave of Nuceria and wanted to give another thought plus my updated rating of the book

So to go ahead and get the rating out of the way it’s a solid 7/10. It’s a pretty cool short and sweet book. There’s not really to much more I have to say about it that I haven’t already said in my last post. The only other thing I have to say is about Kharn and Angron. I think towards the end of the book Kharn is really the only World Eater Angron sees as a son. I don’t see any other World Eater he speaks to like he does Kharn. Mainly, I think I see it this way cause Angron kinda flat out says it. Throughout the book he does not claim the World Eaters as his sons. He keeps saying they are not my sons, they are the emperors creation not mine. Until, Kharn gets the Butchers Nails implanted. When Angron walks into the hall where a majority of the world eaters were after Kharn went on his rampage, he looks at Kharn with a kind of grin and asks “do you see now”. After Kharn answers Angron gives out his hand and says (I forget the exact line, because I gotta drive and listen at the same time) something along the lines of “follow me son”. Really cool to see that. Now I do have a couple of questions though. What book shows the fight between Angron and Russ? When do the rest of the legions and the emperor find out the World Eaters had the butchers nails implanted? Lastly, at the epilogue of the book was the statue of Kharn or of Mago?

Halfway through Angron: Slave of Nuceria and wanted to give my thoughts and rating it so far

So first off, it’s really nice to get to see the War Hounds transition into the World Eaters. Seeing their more Romanesque culture turn into something more akin to the barbarians that caused Romes fall. Secondly, it’s cool getting to see both sides of the World Eaters thoughts on the butchers nails. The discussion between Mago and Kharn in chapter 12 is probably my favorite. They are discussing the butchers nails while they spar and eventually at the end of the chapter Kharn says “When have we ever had a choice”
I really like this quote because it shows the parallels between Angron and his legion. Angron never really has agency in his own life, he was created by the emperor to be a general in his great crusade, when all the primearchs get sent to different planets Angron gets sent to Nuceria and pretty much gets spawncamped into slavery. He then grows up in the arena forced to fight for the entertainment of the locals and the High Riders. Until eventually he and his fellow gladiators rebel. This is one of the few times he actually is doing something of his own will but of course in the end when he is about to make his final stand with his brothers and sisters, the emperor takes him from the planet and forces him to watch as the high riders kill the last of the rebelling gladiators. He begs the emperor to let him fight with them down there or at least send his army to fight with them but the emperor says no. One of the only times Angron is able to take initiative in his own life and he is denied. The World Eaters are just like him in this way. They are forced to become space marines (I think this varies by chapter so I’m not 100% sure the World Eaters were forced so y’all will have to tell me in the comments) and fight in the great crusade. Going from planet to planet bringing it to compliance until they eventually find Angron. After his discovery Angron treats them as badly as the High Riders treated him. Every time the World Eaters do not kill everyone on the world they are ordered to capture in 31 hours (1 Nucerian day) they are ordered decimation by Angron. Where 1 in 10 space marines must be killed. On top of this the commanders must turn the red rope (one of the few traditions from Nuceria that Angron let the World Eaters adopt). It’s just a very interesting sad dynamic where the world eaters try everything to get their genefather to accept them but he just hates them for it anyway. Finally, my rating for the book. So far it’s a solid book not really close to my favorite (The First Heretic is sooooooo good) but it has some great moments. I’m expecting this book to end up a 6.5/10 for me. It’s definitely not bad there’s just better books I’ve read. Next, I will be reading Know no Fear and then Betrayer to cap off that “trilogy”. Would love to see y’all’s thoughts on the comments!

Just finished The First Heretic and wanted to give my thoughts

Firstly: FUCK AQUILON, FUCK THE CUSTODES. I hate that I cant completely hate them for what they did because I understand why but oh my god what a chest punch (I'm sorry rip you know who). I now love and hate the person who recommended this book to me. absolute 10/10 book. I almost teared up at the ending man. Why does Argel-Tal have to have such a big heart man. Games Workshop gives its most compassionate marines the most depressing things. Gonna get into some spoilers, I highly recommend reading the book before looking at what I'm about to say. >!Argel-tal at the end just loosing all those closest to him hurts so much man. Him killing Aquilon and the other custodes with the Gael-Vorback and losing his closest brothers in the process. As well as him finding Cyrene in her chamber as she laid dying.!< God, such a good book I cant wait for the next one I read. I'm now gonna drink for what I just had to listen to and I will update yall when I am halfway through my next book!

A little bit over halfway through The First Heretic and wanted to share my thoughts on it

So recently I’ve finally decided to actually read/listen to the books instead of just listening to loretubers go over them. The first 2 books I’ve read/listened to in order are, The Infinite and the Divine, and Angron: The Red Angel (I know the order of books is very weird). I’ve decided on this one as my third following some suggestions from my last couple of posts on the World Eaters subreddit. Honestly, I was very surprised with how much I’m enjoying this book. Argal-Tal and Zaphyn’s friendship is cool to see because the videos I’ve watched/podcasts I’ve listened to never really go over the friendships between space marines. The opening of the book was also pretty neat with the perspective of Sireenee and the burning of Monarchia. My favorite parts of the book are probably the times Argal-Tal visits Sireenee. So far I don’t really have any complaints about the book and hopefully I won’t have any when I finish it. Next up I’ll either be reading Betrayer or Angron: Slave of Nuceria. Any book suggestions would also be appreciated!

Just an update from my last post: Finished listening to Angron The Red Angel this morning. It was a solid 7-8/10

Loved laedis, progression through the book becoming a world eater. My unexpected favorite part of the book was with shoka on heiadees won’t spoil it but I believe it was chapter 19 or 20, amazing chapter. The person reading it on audible did a great job throughout the book. I think the only thing that knocked it down a little for me was some of the grey knights chapters of the book cause I’m not really a big fan of them in the first place. Overall though great book, went ahead and purchased kharns book as well as betrayer and first heretic. Other book suggestions are welcome as well!

Started actually reading some of the 40k books and was wanting to get y’all’s opinions/some answers on some things

So the second 40k books and I’ve decided to read is Angron: The Red Angel. So far I’m really enjoying it. From all I know about the lore so far, the 12th legion is one of my favorites. I really love how sad and sympathetic Angron fall to chaos is. So that’s why I decided this book as my second one (the first was The Infinite and The Divine, great book btw). I had a couple of questions I was wanting to get answered as well as some character opinions y’all had. The first question is does anyone with the butchers nails sleep at all? And how are they able to continue fighting if they get no sleep? The second question is what do y’all think of,Leidis, Kossolax, and Leidis’ serf (her name is slipping my mind)? Lastly, should I read kharns book next or do y’all have another recommendation? Thank you
