Trying to understand my paystub. Is IRA contribution factored into my gross pay?

For example, let's say I receive paychecks bi-weekly. I earn $639.63, with $63.96 contributed towards an employer sponsored Simple IRA. My take home pay is $501.63 after taxes (FICA, city, etc.). For Ohio Medicaid, MAGI, student loan repayment purposes, what amount must be factored into the $1,836 monthly income limit (for Medicaid) - the $639.63 or $501.63?

I apologize if this is common sense I just want to make sure I am reporting the correct amount to Medicaid.

In order to lower MAGI, do my IRA contributions need to be deducted directly from my employer sponsored Simple IRA or can I contribute money from my personal savings account?

I currently have Charles Schwab traditional & roth IRA's, and a Simple IRA (employer sponsored) Edward Jones Guided Solutions. I realize EJ fees are ridiculous. The problem is, I contribute a large percentage of my earned income through my employer for tax purposes as this helps lower my MAGI.

My question is this: would it be essentially the same thing if I contributed just 3% to get the employer match with Edward Jones & let the money from the job hit my bank account and then contribute to my Schwab traditional IRA? Or does this defeat the purpose of the IRA "loop hole" and the deduction must be made directly through my employer sponsored IRA without the earned income hitting my bank account?

Edward Jones Simple IRA, are their fees justified?

The simple IRA is pre-tax. I plan on contributing a large portion of my monthly earnings to my account. I am reading that their fees are quite expensive. I have a Charles Schwab traditional & roth IRA's. How often could I transfer money from EJ over to CS (if this is even allowed)? Would that be useless as I would still be paying their (EJ) fees?

PSLF - do I need to complete 120 qualifying payments for each loan term taken out?

I have a set of loans from an associate degree from back in 2010, and then an additional set of loans taken out in 2024 for a bachelor's degree. All federal.

I am starting my PSLF journey. Are the loans combined together (currently I owe a combined $72k), or, do I need to work 10 years to get the loans from 2010 forgiven and then an additional 10 years for the later loans from 2024 forgiven for a total of 20 years (240 payments) to get the entire $72k forgiven?

I apologize if this is confusing..

Contributing to an employer sponsored Simple IRA & Medicaid?

I earn $2,400/month (gross). I want to get this pay down to $1,839 for Medicaid Healthcare insurance in Ohio. So, could I contribute 25% (or more, to be safe) of my pay to my employer sponsored Simple IRA and end up with my desired amount of $1,839? Is this considered legal? I do not want to get in trouble for doing this method.

Additionally, regarding student loans, would the $2,400/month or $1,839/month be factored into my monthly payment amount?

I need major help with my out of control curls. Product recommendations to help with frizz?

I style my hair and it looks great inside the house, the second I walk out the door on a warm, humid day my hair poofs and frizzes up instantly. I think I am using the wrong products. I have read that ouidad is recommended for my hair type. Create me a regimen with products from them, please?

  1. Currently I use the Redkin soft line (shampoo, conditioner, serum)

  2. I've been using the Color Wow carb infused leave in conditioner and Color Wow shield but not having much luck.

  3. I usually air dry my hair.

  4. I usually wash once a week, and heat style the day after washing and then use heatless curls every night the rest of the week. I do use a silk pillowcase.

Beginner, and I have questions. Help with the start of my journey?

I have $73,000 student loan debt with $5,056 accrued interest (all federal, direct loans, both unsubsidized and subsidized).

I have a PLSF eligible job that I am planning on working at least 30 hours/week to meet the requirement. I live in Ohio.

I have federal loans dating back to 2010 and as recent as 2025.

If I successfully complete the 10 year requirement, hypothetically would ALL of my $73k loan debt be forgiven or only the debt from 2010?

I make roughly $2,400/month but contribute $600/month in my employer sponsored Simple IRA. Would my payment amount be calculated with the $2,400, or the $1,800?

Additionally, I am in forbearance and my next scheduled payment is 2/1/2027 under an IBR plan. Do I need to wait until February 2027 to apply for PLSF? My recertification date is 1/2/2027.

I am reading about buyback- what does this mean? I've worked at my current job for 2 years but not making payments because I graduated recently and then the forbearance. Could I make a lump payment that would total the amounts due for the past 2 years since I've been at the PLSF eligible job?

Just getting started, I have questions

So, I earn $2,400/month working 30 hours/week at a county job. I plan on contributing 25% towards my employer sponsored Simple IRA making my take home pay $1,800/month. Would there be any issues with this and my eligibility for PLSF? Roughly, how much could I expect my student loan payment to be monthly with these numbers?

Simple IRA contribution question?

Hypothetically, I earn $2,400/month (gross). I want to get this pay down to $1,839 for Medicaid Healthcare insurance in Ohio. So, could I contribute 25% of my pay to my employer sponsored Simple IRA and end up with my desired amount of $1,839? Do I pay taxes on the IRA contributions on my taxes?

Medicaid eligibility, tied in with PLSF?

I currently work part-time at a county job, earning roughly $1,480/month. This job would qualify for PLSF. The problem is, I need to work full-time for the PLSF. I am working right around 20 hours/week now, hypothetically, if I worked an additional 10 hours/week putting me at 30 total hours a week would this satisfy the PLSF full time requirement?

If so, I'd be earning roughly $2,220 gross pay/month. Currently I am receiving Medicaid Healthcare insurance in Ohio. Obviously the $2,220 would disqualify me by around $380.

My question is, could I contribute the said amount of $380 to a retirement account like an IRA to get my income threshold down to the Ohio Medicaid income limit?

If anyone familiar with Ohio Medicaid, exactly how much money could I earn (gross) and still quality for insurance? I searched online and I am seeing $1,832 - is this accurate?

Additionally, what would a student loan payment look like if I were to earn $1,832 (or thereabouts) per month?

When the 80 hours requirements go into effect for Medicaid, in Ohio..

I am reading different things.

The most popular is working at least 80 hours per month to qualify for Medicaid. The second that I've not been able to find much information on is earning at least whatever federal minimum wage ($7.25) is x 80 hours = $580. So, as long as I am earning at least $580/month, even if I'm working let's assume 10 hours per month, would I still qualify for MAGI Medicaid?

In a bit of a hard spot here. Partner is older, I am only working part-time to care for him. Retirement concern?

My partner (we have been together 13 years, not married, living in Ohio) was deemed fully disabled at age 62, he is 65 now. He had a decent work history so he receives enough from monthly disability payments to get by. I am younger than him by 20 years. I have work history but not very high paying jobs. I am concerned for my retirement as I understand Social Security takes the highest earning 35 years to calculate retirement payment. I've been working part-time, earning roughly $900/month as I take care of him with home care, doctor's appointments, etc. I don't mind doing it at all but I am worried that these years of me being "idle" are creating a mess for me when I go to draw social security.

I receive Medicaid healthcare insurance because of my earnings, and have student loan debt. Would it be wise for my partner and I to get married, so I at least would be entitled to his survivor benefits when I am of age? Would I receive the same amount that he is currently receiving, should he pass before me? If we were to get married, would filing jointly protect my medicaid healthcare insurance? Would my income cause any damage/deduction to his social security payments? I am very confused how this all works - seeking information from you knowledgeable people..

Last week I purchased a refrigerator from Menards, this should have been a huge red flag but it was the last refrigerator, no box just wrapped in plastic wrap.

Got it home, it wasn't cooling properly and I feel this unit was most likely used and returned because of the condition. So I had to go through the hassle of loading the refrigerator back up and returning it.

I then bought another refrigerator (same model, different color). Got it home and noticed today the freezer isn't keeping proper temperatures.

I am dreading going through the hassle of returning yet another refrigerator back to Menards. It's a process as I have to take my front door off the hinges, then physically loading and unloading the refrigerator.

Is there ANYONE I could contact about this? The local store isn't much help and quite unprofessional.

I got the Ultra1500, confused by the light % though.. would 100% Red Light & 100% NIR on my face/neck/stomach/legs front & back be too much? What benefits could I expect to see and feel?

For reference, I've been using the Hooga Ultra360 for my face area for tge past year.

65 year old man in Ohio receiving Social Security Disability monthly payments, $3,020 gross but after medicare premium a net pay of $2,932. Lets assume the yearly Social Security income for the year is $36,000 - would the $6,000 be reduced from this amount meaning that my annual income for the year is really $30k and not $36k? I have no other income aside from SSDI.

I have naturally curly hair that gets dry from heat styling. I read that vegetable glycerin in a spray bottle mixed with water can be very beneficial. Anyone have an experience to share? What ratio to vegetable glycerin & water? When? How often? Any potential side effects?
