Thoughts on parents who get involved in their grown childrens dating relationships

I have a friend whose dad (i don't over 50 M) admitted that he would make any guys life difficult if he approached his daughters with romantic intent. Mind you, they are all over 18 F.

I understand a parent wanting to protect their daughter, but where do you draw the line between being protective and interfering with your adult child’s dating life?

I personally find it extreme and weird?

Should we have invited the parents as well?

Went to an event hosted by a relative's significant other. They paid for the catering, etc...so they decided who came. One of the teens wanted there friends to come along (They over 18). Still live under the parents roof so we didn't want to cause any issues.

The parents said yes, it's fine in the beginning. Two hours later, after the event started we were told no they couldn't come. We had already catered for them and saw the parents over the weekend, who said all was good.

We later found out that one parent was upset they weren't included when it legitimately was a gathering for our *blood* relatives. We only included their children because the kids wanted friends on the day, as the majority of the kids are extremely young, which is fair. This parent apparently spoke about us to other members at our shared community gathering. Where things escalated. This one parent started turning on everyone and saying hurtful things to anyone close by.

My relatives are upset with this parent for how they handled the situation and no longer want to go to the gathering location. They feel extremely uncomfortable and would have preferred this parent expressed their discomfort from the beginning. This parent got so angry they shouted at everybody and made a huge scene (people not related). They even got up and left everybody there that came him (even his wife) and they had to arrange their own transport home. That's how badly this whole situation affected him. This specific parent isn't easy to deal with because they can be vulgar, brash, loud and domineering no matter whose in charge they have to be the center of attention which is the very reason they weren't invited.

How did God reveal your spouse to you?

Went to a church conference recently where a lady said someone approached her and described her future spouse.

Weeks passed and she had a vision of him.

Then years passed and a guy from a completely different department at her job approached her and greeted her. She knew he was the one.

~~~
I found the whole thing interesting and was wondering if anybody else had a similar experience?
How did Luther die in my playthrough?
I rescued him when he got shot in Jericho. We were reunited when they were shooting androids, so I saved him again. Then in the boat scene we all jumped in the water and he got out of the water and started dying. I think I'm confused because I did so much to keep him alive. This is my first playthrough.
People who have more than one job are you coping and what are your coping mechanisms?
My first job is Monday to Friday. My second is on a Saturday.
In the beginning, it was fine and I was coping. But as time went on, I noticed my mental health getting worse. I was exhausted all the time, not in the nicest of moods, and lost the interest to do things I actually enjoyed. I need both jobs so I can't quit, but some coping mechanisms and advice would be great.
Why do people intentionally create drama and rifts within the workforce?
I've been working at my job for a while. Everything was chill, then on my last shift, people weren't talking to me. Even those I never got along with were still on talking terms, and we put our feelings aside for work. Now, on my last shift, they are not on talking terms with me (no idea), and they refuse to speak to me & other people. Then one person came to me asking why there was so much drama between me and another coworker.
So obviously I asked what they meant. I just personally have been trying to remove myself from the drama because two of my coworkers have this weird rivalry or beef. They both come and talk to me. One is in charge but the other hasn't been nominated and is occasionally nominated. They act like they get along, but talk badly about each other when the other isn't around.
Apparently, I've been complaining to my boss about other employees, and that's affecting the boss's image of them & etc...i know right, crazy? Are these people okay? There was other stuff, but the person never wanted to tell me.
I don't fully trust the person because we were never friends now all of a sudden you're telling me this? I don't know how to feel. What kills me is the one telling them these rumors is the person who does it.
Should I have told my boss the truth?
We just had a new supervisor nominated, she was always great and hard working before. But now there's a title, I don't know if it's just me but she changed. For example she tells everyone what to do now and doesn't do the stuff
Whereas before she'd stand up, offer, show us how to do things the right way. Now she just barks out orders and watches us all work hard. So it personally really bothered me when a select few who she was "chatting to or gossiping" with stopped working. She'd leave them.
So, our supposed team of six had only two members: me and my new coworker. I haven't been there long either I'd say under a year. I have a fare idea of things but not everything.
First red flag: When some of the stuff that had to be done was actually done, the other employee was like, "Oh, shame, they have nothing to do now." That really bugged me. Mind you, she's legitimately the youngest person there.
Second red flag: When my boss stepped out. They all sat doing nothing and told us to do work while they "rested".
Third red flag: Was when me and my coworker took a small break just to eat something. The supervisor came in telling us off and to get back to work.
So we carried on, then my coworker said what I was thinking. She wished the boss could see what was happening. But we both agreed on not wanting to be newbies complaining. Our boss is amazing and cares for their staff. She started talking about how she disliked how she was being treated, which I agreed with. I had worked with this same "supervisor" before she was given the title, and she had never behaved like this before. She'd always set an example. Then while i was doing the supervisors job because she was no where to be found. The employee who was messing around with her came in telling me to get back to work.
~ My patience ran thin at this moment. I held myself back telling her in the nicest way what I was doing. She ran off running to the supervisor to complain. I honestly don't care, I just wished the boss would ask us on our thoughts on our new supervisor because she hasn't been officially nominated and it was a trail period for her...while she kinda nominated herself as the supervisor🫪
This same person kept saying she's worked there the longest and was never nominated as a supervisor. She doesn't know why the boss doesn't pick her and now I know why. I also lowkey suspect the gossiping because she's a trouble maker.
Then after we finished our work, I guess my boss knew something was up and kept asking me what's wrong. I just laughed it off and said nothing was wrong. I wanted to tell the truth, but I just didn't want to be that person.
Thoughts on ai authors
On the radio this morning, I heard them introduce an AI author who was on air talking about their writing experience and journey. I'm just confused as to why they're encouraging this behavior. What are your thoughts in general?
Personally, it's not for me, and I wouldn't support these authors.
AITA for not going to family gatherings
I have two jobs and genuinely busy. I work Monday-Friday at one job and the other on Saturday/Sunday. I stopped going out and became a hermit because on the weekends or on the days I don't work, I just want to relax.
I am also an introvert who dislikes family gatherings because they all feel repetitive to me. I get asked the same questions and I normally just chill on my phone the entire time. I hate small talk and I'm always bored at these events. So I stopped going and started prioritizing my weekends to recharge my social battery because both jobs require me to interact with people.
Maybe I am a bad person, but I'm not really close with my extended family. There's too much drama, and it bugs me that everyone acts fine around each other when there are a lot of issues bubbling under the surface. We're not that close but my parents try to go to everything because they feel entitled to because they "family." I get a lecture all the time on how I must go to these things but I'm just not interested.
My thought process is, if you dislike something why force yourself to do it?
Does anybody else feel that cheating is becoming more normalized?
What sparked this question was someone recently telling me they think cheating is a more acceptable option than divorce. I was honestly very horrified....
Obviously infidelity has existed for centuries but lately it feels like I'm seeing it everywhere. (Social media, in movies, TV shows, books, and even Christian couples sharing how they worked through an affair by the grace of God)
Do you think infidelity is becoming more normalized, or is it just more visible than it used to be?
~ Please be nice and respectful, thank you
Why do people assume everyone will want a family in the future?
If you want to get married and have kids, that's great. I genuinely wish you the best of luck.
What I don't understand is why, when someone says they aren't interested in starting a family, so many people respond with things like,
"You'll change your mind," or
"Everyone says that when they're younger."
Why is it so hard for some people to accept that not everyone wants the same life? I'm genuinely curious about where that assumption comes from.
~ Please be nice in the comments thank you🥹
AITA for leaving my friend group
I feel mentally exhausted with them and just want to leave the friend group.
~ Background
We started as a small group of 5 that expanded over time (We are now 15). It was chill in the beginning. As time past and the group expanded i started noticing cliques. I brought my concerns up to the group "leader" and was brushed off. A few people came to me within the group expressing the same feelings. I stopped going to events obviously due to a busy schedule.
That's when more drama erupted. One of the members introduced a person they were romantically interested in and hoped they would fit in with the group. That's when everyone's true colors showed. They started gossiping about each other and that same friend. I spoke to the leader again, expressing I didn't like what was going on and that it was making me uncomfortable. There's a way to joke around with friends, but it reaches a point where you're just talking badly about someone because everyone else is. What pissed me off was that the point of this group was that it was supposed to be a safe space, but it stopped being that. Also if they saying that about a person they knew longer what are they saying about me? Also it was very serious things they were talking about.
Since I said something I've noticed specifically the main troublemakers on the group have been offish with me and wary what they say around me. They stopped messaging me, reaching out...all of that stopped.
So I'm thinking of leaving the friend group and saying nothing. I'll keep in contact with a few people but the rest of them I'm not interested. I just feel guilty because they might tell me I'm overreacting.
But I don't know am i the asshole am i the problem?
