Purchased last month 2 days after the 5 link model was released at W&W from my AD. So far absolutely loving it. I have a 126710BLNR and am noticing some differences with case size and diameter. Overall though I think it’s a great homage to the Rolex 16710 Coke with the aluminum bezel. I also love the vintage look too
We all know which watches Leo’s character Danny Archer wore. However, for years I thought that Captain Poison was wearing a Rolex Day Date. But looking closer the links almost look oyster in some scenes and I can’t quite make out if the bezel is smooth or fluted. It does appear to be all gold
Last year I got my 1983 18038 serviced by RSC. As part of the service, I had to get the dial replaced because the original was in very bad shape. Pinhole and missing lume dots. I got a service dial but unfortunately it is not a T dial. I’ve gotten comments about how now my day date is trashed and it’s completely worthless. Not looking to sell it but just wondering if it’s a mutant watch now and really is trashed. I still love it but just can’t shake some of the comments. Now I’m debating on whether to just look for a T dial to bring it back to its original form. It’s just a headache because I’ve dropped so much into restoring this watch. Absolutely love it but I just want to go a couple of years without putting more into it. Thanks!
