Why doesn’t Pakistan just fine people for littering with a hefty price tag?

The reason indians and Pakistanis dont spam the horns or dont drive like lunatics in gulf countried or abroad is that they re fined heavily. What stops Pakistan to implement that too and collect revenue from that. If there is no incentive for the authorities to enforce that, simply do it like in german busses or trains. If you catch someone littering you get a cut of the fine.

All the handful of players like my demo, say it looks fairly high quality and is addicting, yet almost 0 visibility or reach...

Hi,

im currently at a point where im not sure where I stand. I have released a demo for the recent steam fest and unfortuantely I went in with around 200 wishlists as I published my page recently and was planning to release before October. Now the issue is: the steam next fest did almost nothing for getting players nor visibility. I remember participating on 2023 and it was a really similar game and there the steam next fest did alot more in terms of outreach to players. It seems valve has changed it so that next fests boost games already have a massive following and burying smaller indies.

Now i have been hard at work trying to get people on twitch to play my game (no big streamers, mostly small streamers) by asking them politely if they re up for it. And so far, almost all streamers found it addicting and well made. My friends on steam liked the challenge and also couldnt put it down. Now I dont know what is the next step. Of course my steam page needs work but its hard just pinpointing the issue at the steam page if steam doesnt pull any traffic to my steam page. Of course, if all streamers said the game needed work and wasn't fun I could at least pinpoint why the game is doing poorly, but so far it was received quite positively by the people who decided to give it a go... I have been trying to post on twitter consistently and most post never get traction. I am now wondering, am I missing something? Is all now a mercy of algorithm thing. Even itch, which used to be a place where indies could get at least some people to try their games, ever since they messed with the indexing, for me its dead in the water the minute i upload my build. Its been 40 days and even if you search my game on itch word for word, it wont show. It has seized being a good platform for unknown developers to debut themselves.

Im just a bit demotivated. Making games is hard, trying to find players is hard, fighting the algorithms ontop of that makes it all even harder. Some people make in a day wishlists what i do perhaps in a month. Some steam pages just seem to be getting more traffic by default. Perhaps i am wrong.

Here is some gameplay from my tutorial level game: https://i.gyazo.com/8622da3179710b828be912cbf36c49af.mp4

I am aware its not the best game but its a rage game but is it really that bad looking that it basically wont even kickstart some traffic? Almost no demo plays which makes it even harder to collect feedback.

Can someone explain to mes appeal of auto battlers, idle etc? I still quite get it

Hi,

So recently i keep hearing of games like autobattler, idle and everything and even when reading the descriptions, I dont really get it. Are auto battlers idle games or two different genres? What makes them fun? What is the appeal? Am i missing something? If anyone could give me input of what they are and why they re so popular would be cool?

Edit: Sorry for the typos in the title 😓

Should Pakistan focus on football instead of cricket

I have been wondering this for a while. To keep it short, while I think cricket is a great sport, its quite unpopular in the rest of the world. Secondly, if Pakistan had a good team, it would have a better impact on its image and yields more exposure to the country as a whole. From a barrier of entry perspective, kids with little to no budget can play it. Just improvise the goal posts and have a ball and 4-22 kids can play all day. No fancy equipment and the sport is more active as a whole. If i watch or played cricket sometime back then, you would have many moments just standing around fielding doing much of nothing. Football is a sport that encourages you to be keep your feet running so its better for your cardio. The team work required for football is also much greater, teaching kids how to play together more effectively. Cricket on the other hand, even people with even bigger bellies play. Even some of our own pro athlete have horrible fitness. I still dont know how that overweight person made it in the national team few years ago. Football requires more discipline as a whole imho. You cannot compete on a higher level if you cannot keep up with your workouts.

I also think cricket is dying. Only india keeps it alive. Most countries dropped it or arent invested heavily in it. Even countries like Australia, the general population doesnt really care about it too much and mind you australia wins world cups every now and then. There is so much more money in football and the leagues too.

How can we promote football in pakistan instead of cricket?

Hi everyone,

Recently I started posting my game and by far it is not the best but I refuse to believe it is also the worst in my category(ill get to that in a bit). More often than not, some people downvote my showcases for no apparent reason. Its literally just showing some whitebox gameplay. More shocking to me, getting messages like my "game is the worst" the redditor has ever seen and wonders whether its an "AI mockup" and that the person has seen "20 games exactly just like mine" and that mine is probably the worst they have seen. I called that person out and checked; there arent 20 games "just like mine". It just seemed like someone pulling it out of their magic-hat to demotivate me? I am all up for fair critcism but I cannot help but think some fellow devs are quite malicious with their intent. I wonder am I the only one? I was also called a "c*nt" and the same person hoped my game isnt more than 4 minutes long. For no reason on a indie game post. I didnt say or post anything controversial to warrant those reactions. Even if you re supposed to "destroy a game", you should still not be baseless about things you say. I guess the subreddit doesnt have active moderators since it seems like some of their users just simply dont want to provide valid feedback, they want to convince you your game is the worst and you should quit.
I guess these people dont do it with games which get quite a bit of upvotes and support as that would be futile and would be picked up by decent human beings but I am quite taken aback how toxic the indie game scene can be. Deceit, straight up hating without providing valid feedback was NOT on my bingo card especially since I always felt like indies could understand and emphasize witht he struggle of finishing and shipping literally ANY game.

Again, not here to claim my game deserves the world and beyond or whatever, but I put alot of effort into it and idk, feels a bit sad. And I repeat, I am all for valid criticism, providing feedback but some of it is just straight up toxic. I get the feeling reddit does not seem to be the space to promote your game unless you go super viral or already have an audience.

I am currently finishing up my game and I finally made a steam page for it, but man, it just feels like im at the mercy of algorithms now. Getting low traction feels demotivating, not because I hoped it would blow up but it seems like there is no target audience or simply the lack of interest just feels painful 🥲. My question to more seasoned developers, as this is my first game, how can I overcome this mental pushback? Perhaps you could share your feelings with me once you finally have the game out? I dont expect people to like my game nor do I feel entitled to people’s time and attention. Not sure. its just brutal how competitive the industry is. Sorry for the rant.
