Is hiring a workers’ comp lawyer in Arizona even worth it?

I’m a warehouse worker in AZ and messed up my back pretty bad lifting a pallet a couple months ago. Reported it same day, went to the doc they sent me to, and the claim technically got accepted… but now the insurance is playing games.

They’re slow-walking approvals, pushing me to see “their” specialist, and hinting I might be able to go back to “light duty” even though I can barely stand more than 10–15 mins. Adjuster barely answers emails, and when they do it’s super vague. I’m already freaking out about missing checks and making rent.

I keep seeing mixed takes online: some people say workers’ comp lawyers just take a cut for stuff you can handle yourself, others say you’re screwed without one because of deadlines, IMEs, etc.

For anyone in Arizona who’s been through this:

Did you hire a lawyer or go solo? Was it actually worth it in terms of money/stress? Anything you wish you’d done earlier (or differently)?

I’m trying not to get bulldozed here, just want to heal and not lose everything.

Landlord keeping deposit for "paint fading" after 4 years

Lived in a Bangalore apartment for 4 years. Paid 1.5 lakhs deposit. Moved out last month. Now landlord says he's deducting 40k because the paint faded and there are "small nail holes" from picture frames. Also some random cleaning charges I never agreed to.

I know normal wear and tear isn't supposed to come out of deposit. But every landlord here seems to have their own rules. Is there an actual legal definition or do I just have to fight for months in small claims court? Has anyone actually won one of these disputes? Looking for real experiences not just theory.

Walls were not damaged. Just normal living for 4 years. Feel like he's just testing to see what he can get away with.

8 years of being a landlord and one tenant ruined it all for me

so yeah i gotta vent a little but also need some real advice cuz im at the end of my rope here

back in 2016 i inherited a duplex from my dad over in delco, not far from philly, at first it was fine, like tenants paid mostly on time, place stayed decent, i thought hey this is easy side income, boy was i wrong

fast forward to now and i got a tenant from hell, like seriously

on paper this guy looked great, good credit, stable job, seemed nice when i met him, but once he moved in everything went south, first he started paying late every month, then hed skip a month and promise to catch up, then he just stopped answering my calls altogether

took me 6 months to get him out, court dates kept getting pushed back, lawyer cost me like 3 grand, and when he finally left? the place is destroyed, not just messy but damaged, holes in the drywall everywhere, doors ripped off the hinges, kitchen cabinets hanging crooked, the toilet was cracked, and the smell, i cant even describe the smell, its like old trash and worse

got a contractor to give me a quote to get it rent ready again, he said 25k minimum, new drywall, new doors, new flooring, paint, some plumbing fixes, plus theres water damage in the basement from something that i didnt even know about

i dont have 25k sitting around, i got my own mortgage and bills and a life, so now the places just sitting there empty while i pay taxes and insurance on it every month, losing money

has anyone here sold a trashed rental property to a cash buyer and been happy with it? or should i just try to find a hard money loan, fix it up, and try to rent again? tbh im leaning toward selling, im tired of this landlord life, every time my phone rings i flinch thinking its another problem

any advice from people who have been in the trenches would help a lot этот пост

Suggest a classic about being trapped in a senseless nightmare

Finished Kafka last week. Gregor wakes up as a bug and his family turns on him. No reason is ever given. That is what stuck with me. The senselessness of it. He did nothing wrong and still ends up alone and hated.

What is another novel where a character suffers a bizarre fate for no clear reason and everyone around them reacts with cruelty or indifference?

thinking about chopping my long hair short at 28 after breakup

im 28f and ive had long hair basically my whole life always past my shoulders and never did anything drastic with it. my ex loved it long and hated when i even talked about cutting it shorter so i kept it that way for years even though i secretly wanted to try something new. (it can sound dumb, i know)

we broke up a few weeks ago lol and now i really wanna change my whole style and go for the short hair ive always dreamed about. i dont wanna attach photos but the idea is simple like this please a chin length bob with some soft layers nothing too crazy just fresh and low maintenance.

i already booked an appointment but im still overthinking it hard. my hair grows pretty fast so its not like itd be permanent but those of you who went from super long to short did you regret it or was it the best move especially after a breakup?

cheers for any real talk guys

btw i dont wanna attach any photos here... :)

Still the best $20 I've ever spent

I finally picked up the silver AE-1200WH after seeing it all over this sub for months, and I totally get the hype now. It’s crazy how a watch this affordable feels so much more "alive" than my more expensive pieces, there's just something about that little world map and the radar display that makes you feel like a 90s secret agent. I’ve been wearing it daily for a week, and honestly, the light weight makes me forget it's even on my wrist until I need to check the time. It’s the perfect mix of retro-tech and pure functionality.

For those of you who have had yours for a while, do you prefer keeping it on the original resin strap or did you swap it for a steel bracelet/leather strap?

Is paying for a custom website worth it for my small flower shop?

My current website is very basic. Suuuper basic.

It works for simple orders, but it doesn’t really feel like it represents the quality or care that goes into my work. I’ve been looking at other florist websites and they look so much more polished omg and it makes me wonder if a better site would actually help with customer trust and conversions

At the same time, I’ve checked pricing for custom websites and it feels like a big investment for a small business that’s still growing, so I’m unsure if it’s worth it right now or if there are better alternatives

For those of you running flower businesses, did upgrading your website make a noticeable difference? Or did you find other tools or platforms that worked better in the beginning?

Would really appreciate any advice or experiences, thank you <3

My mum is getting to the age where we're starting to have the "what happens when things get harder" conversation, and honestly, a granny flat or annex makes so much more sense for our family than a care home or her being alone in her house two hours away.

The difficulty is that the attachment is totally out of budget right now. We charge a minimum of £40k for anything worth doing, likely a bit more. Also, my husband uses our garage for work, so remaking it isn't a possibility.

So I've fallen down the rabbit hole of garden cabins. I mean the adequately insulated ones with decent wall thickness. There are a few suppliers doing residential-grade stuff, and some of it is surprisingly well thought out.

I understand this isn't a permanent solution, and there are questions around heating and planning. As a medium-term option, while we figure out the bigger picture, or even just a comfortable space for her to stay when she visits, I'm curious whether anyone has made this work.

Not looking for perfection, just something that actually works and doesn't feel rough.

I’m looking for some advice on a gift for someone who is absolutely obsessed with watches. They already have a pretty solid collection, so I’m hesitant to buy an actual watch because their taste is so specific (and my budget isn't exactly "Rolex level").

What are some cool accessories or "watch-adjacent" gifts that a collector would actually appreciate? I’ve thought about a nice leather travel roll or maybe some specialized tools, but I’d love to hear if there are any unique ideas or hidden gems that I’m missing. Any suggestions that won't just end up sitting in a drawer?

My baby used to sleep in 5 hour chunks. Now she wakes up every 45 minutes like she's being paid to ruin my sanity. We tried fuss it out, check and console, even just staring at her until she falls asleep from sheer confusion. Nothing works. I'm currently running on two hours of broken sleep and a cold brew that stopped working three cups ago. Please tell me this ends. Also if your baby slept through the night at 4 months please keep that information to yourself right now. I am fragile.

Even though it happened years ago, I still catch myself remembering things from school — comments, moments, how it made me feel.

On the outside everything moves on, but sometimes those experiences just stick in your head.

For anyone who’s been through it: does it ever fully stop affecting you, or do you just learn to deal with it better over time?
