Welcome Weekend

Are welcome weekend parties still banned from Main Street? There was a ban on any sort of gatherings on the lawns of Main Street a few years back.

Processing Being the Enmeshed Child of Your Parents?

I’m newer to the enmeshment concept, but I have quickly realized over the past two weeks that I am enmeshed with my family, especially my mom. How do you process this, rectify, and set the appropriate boundaries?

I’m (M33) married to my wife (F33) and we have a 10 month old. Over the course of our relationship, my mom has had a tendency to overstep. There were a few minor (minor to me) instances of disrespect towards my wife and I sort of just brushed it under the rug to not rock the boat. This got even worse when our child was born and we signed my mom up to watch our two days a week.

We ended up telling my mom that we couldn’t have her watch our son for the time being because she has repeatedly disobeyed our requests and has disrespected my wife over the years in small ways that have just reached a breaking point.

My mom had a tendency to suggest things we should be doing with our son, vaccines, foods, etc and we told her we wanted to handle those decisions. We told her a few times that we didn’t want her scrolling on her phone when our kid was in her lap or right with her and we caught him nearly falling off of the couch while she was scrolling on our porch. The final straw was an eye roll last week when my wife asked for the baby back.

I know that my mom is devastated as well as my dad. Given this, I am just feeling pretty bad about the whole situation and keep backing down and saying to my wife “well, maybe we can have her come back next week” and she says that isn’t long enough for the boundary to set in and for the lesson to be learned.

I have taken my mom’s side at my wife’s expense for too long and it’s impacted my marriage and I know I have to change that behavior, but how can I help not feeling terrible about the whole thing?

TLDR: cut mom loose from sitting child because of repeated rule breaking and litte disrespects towards my wife over the years. How can I move past the guilt and hold these boundaries?

How to cut the umbilical cord from my helicopter mom?

I have a helicopter mom. She is always trying to “help”, even when it is not asked for and inserts herself into situations in her kids’ lives that she really doesn’t need to. I am sure I could be defined as a mama’s boy. I love my mom and I want the entire family to get along. However, my mom’s hovering and constant need to provide assistance that hasn’t been asked for has led me into conflict many times with my wife. We have a 9 month old now, which has really accelerated things. It finally came to a head last weekend after a visit and my mom ended up rolling her eyes at my wife after my wife asked for our baby back. I had a pretty severe conversation with my mom and we decided to tell my mom that we didn’t need her to watch the baby her one day a week that she was watching him. She is devastated of course and I feel badly about that, but I’ve gone too long not sticking up for my wife’s boundaries and need to support her.

How else can I continue to support my wife and get my mom to just back off and let us parent? My mom’s antics have been a norm for so long for me and it’s taken a lot of hard conversations and situations for my wife to get me to really open my eyes to this.

Please help me justify that we made the right decision firing my mom as childcare

Hey all, I’m (M33) having a hard time with a decision my wife (F33) and I made to cut my mom loose from watching our son one day a week.

Long story short, I’ve had to have repeated conversations with my mom regarding her phone usage in front of the baby. We caught her sitting on our porch scrolling for 5-10 minutes while our son was looking up at her trying to get her attention and at one point it looked like he could fall off the furniture. My mom also has a tendency to overstep and offer help or advice when it isn’t asked for. I’ve told my mom that it often feels like she is trying to parent the baby and that it is taking agency away from my wife and I. The final straw was an eye roll this past weekend when my wife asked for the baby back so that she could change the baby.

I know that my mom is devastated and that my dad is very upset as well. I know that what my mom does is usually out of a place of caring and loves our son and us deeply, but my wife and I have been having difficult conversations about my mom coming over to watch the baby for months and it is impacting our marriage. I know that I need to prioritize my marriage over my mom, but I am still upset about this, especially since I know that it has hurt my mom deeply. My wife and I went back and forth last night and said “well, maybe we can bring her back in a few weeks”, but I really don’t think that is long enough for the repercussions to settle in.

Can anyone make me feel better about this and tell me if we made the right decision?

I really wish we got an official Wiz, Curren$y, and Big Sean collab mixtape or album

The songs Weed Brownie, Proceed, OTTR, Flowers, and Dot Dot Dot are some of my favorites ever. I very rarely see these songs talked about or shared on here. It’s a shame that they were never released on a mixtape together and that these 3 didn’t make anymore songs with the three together.

Best era of rules for returning player?

I played Heroclix from 2004-2016. I dug out all of my old clix from storage and have a hankering to play again. What rules, PAC, and team abilities should I go with? I do not recall many gripes with the rules back when I was playing, but it looks like there have been some rules changes since then.

For reference, I’m just going to play at home for fun and likely will not buy new product.
