Rayleigh Bath Chair Murder - Hector parallels

I listen to true crime podcasts and this came through in my feed recently.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rayleigh_bath_chair_murder

Summarizing - a man killed his wheelchair bound father by planting an anti-tank mine under his seat. The father was a very difficult man who abused his wife and also had a bell that he rung often to get attention.

I wonder if VG took inspiration from this real life murder.

Did Denise Crosby regret leaving TNG?

On my rewatch I've just finished the episode where Tasha Yar's character gets killed off. Googling I see she requested to leave the show as it felt a bit one dimensional. Fair enough. In the early stages of TNG the focus was mostly Picard and Data BUT as the series progressed all major characters, and a few new ones, got their arcs developed nicely. This is one of the reasons I feel TNG is such a great show. Nobody really got left out. So I'm wondering if Crosby had regrets for leaving knowing how TNG panned out? BTW, I thought she was great in the limited time we saw her. Would have been interesting to see how the writers would have fleshed her character out more.

Blueprint for beating Oz in Oz this summer

So we play 4 tests in Oz which is awesome. How can we beat them? Last time we toured there it was 3 zip and all the games were thrashings. We didn't even come close.

In Oz, you gotta hit the deck hard. There isn't much traditional swing unless it's the type of whippy swing that Starc gets. So floating the ball up NZ/England style is not going to work. We need the likes of Jamieson, Sears and O'Rourke to be bowling a heavy ball just short of a length and threatening the top of off stump. At a brisk pace also. I don't think 145+ is necessary. Anything in the high 130s with good line and length will trouble the Aussie batsmen. Basically we need to emulate the way Cummins and Boland bowl on Oz pitches.

Ouch getting ugly out there for NZ

Stokes and Duckett running rampant at the moment. Emotions at a high. NZ with two bowlers off the field. It's all happening

Edit: Lol this post aged well.

I'd go with Santner in place of Smith

I know Smith has had a good series but I feel with the weather conditions, having a proper spinner might be the difference. Also Santner offers more with the bat. England are going in with a full time spinner and NZ don't want to get caught out. If NZ doesn't pick Santner then will the two part-timers suffice?

Rest Jamieson for the 3rd test?

Just thinking he's had a solid couple of tests. He looked a bit down on pace and seemed to be lumbering a bit on the fifth day. Perhaps give him a break and give Tickner a go?

Talksport commentary - my thoughts

I guess I can't be too critical of the talksport commentary, since it is free after all and there is nothing else. So I am thankful for that. However it could really do with some improvement. They could do better with describing the shot played, who is taking strike, what score the batsman is on, how many more he needs for a milestone etc etc. These are some pretty basic things that make up for good commentary. I'm glad Jeremy Coney is there, he is a seasoned commentator. I can't stand Neil Manthorp though. He is terrible.

Please qualify Lyles's 150m record

When I read the post here saying Lyles had broken the 150m world record, I automatically assumed he'd broken Bolt's record. This is not the case. Lyles broke the 150m record for a bend run. The 150m straight record is still with Bolt. Interestingly, Lyles has run much faster for the straight then the bend.

Any major meets this year with world class competition?

I know this is not a championship year but still wondering if we'll get any meets that will feature the best athletes competing against each other. Also what's up with the Jamaican mens' sprinters? Are Seville, Thompson and co, competing at all? Thanks

Woohoo just registered for KR Genesis on Android

I note there was no price indication. It just says in app purchases. I hope it's not pay to win 😞

What would you do to try and fight the night monsters?

For me I'd have liked to have seen:

  1. Use of fire, some Molotov cocktails perhaps?

  2. Dig some deep pits and cover them with camo. Hopefully one of the monsters falls in and then expose them to sunlight. Try and lure them there just before dawn so gives the monsters the least amount of time to escape

Frontiers - why don't axe thrower totems neutralize Black Surge and Blue Gales?

The totems are supposed to neutralize magic but don't seem to have any effect on the Black Surge and Blue Gales.

Your favorite Frontiers mini boss?

Mine is Bloodshell. Built like a tank and practically impervious to physical damage. Stock up on Assassin's instakill or pay the price.

My favorite episode so far in Season 1 - Coming of age

I am really enjoying Season 1. I know peak TNG is Seasons 3 onwards, but there have been numerous episodes so far that have been excellent. I enjoyed Datalore of course. Can't wait for the future Lore episodes. But so far for me, the best episode has been Coming of age. It is vintage TNG. It had everything. A bit of mystery, life lessons and Picard showing who's boss! I know Wesley is a polarizing character but I never had any issue with him. I think Will Wheaton did a fantastic job in the role. They had the whole genius kid thing going in the 80s so I can understand why they had his character in TNG.

Watching TNG again after 20 years

With so much crap on TV these days I've decided to go back and watch TNG. I was a bit apprehensive as I thought it would feel cheesy, I mean we are talking about a 40 year old show here. Boy was I wrong. I'm hooked from episode 1. Just finished watching season 1 episode 11 Haven. It had a young Robert Knepper, of T-Bag fame from Prison Break. Damn so handsome. Loved his hairstyle and such an unusual role for him. He was brilliant.

And that's the thing about Star Trek TNG, it's just got good acting overall. The cast gels together so well and that is why we go back and watch it. So many good episodes to look forward to.

Is it worth purchasing Saitam?

On sale for Frontiers at $1.89. I've finished the game with 3 stars and veteran difficulty, so it's just to play a new hero who is massively discounted.
