So I was re-watching The Clone Wass Micro series which is amazing as always something I’ve been thinking about is the different gladiators from the Cauldron on Rattatak. So I thought maybe a challenge in the style of “What’s the story?”from the Hyperspace and the Old Databank entries

So I was planning to make a tales of book on the Gladiators on the Cauldron and out of all in the first picture only 5 of them are given a backstory  (which you can find in this leak https://web.archive.org/web/20080629052200/https://www.starwars.com/databank/updates/news20031119.html)

for the rest we know their names and some details from in Ultimate Sticker Book: Star Wars Clone Wars, a sticker book written by Simon Beecroft and released in 2004. But besides that most of their backstories are sadly not revealed.

So the goal for you guys is to expanded on the backstories, fleshed out, identity the species, and their reasons why they were in the Cauldron?

Also as bonus you could also expand and fleshed out Dooku host (the guy in the second picture.) like giving a name and his actual role in the cauldron and if he is connected to Kirske or no not all (for context Osika Kirske the guy in the last picture was a warlord and the guy behind Ky Narec’s death. According  to Republic issue 60 is said to have rule more then half of the planet and in the short story Restrain where it feature Kirske in a primary capacity and connecting him to the Siniteen and Weequay raiders in the show. The story also connected Kirske to the Cauldron arena from the 2D series, revealing not only he is the one who own the arena.

Otherwise if Kirske is the one who own the Cauldron or at least has his own viewing gallery within the arena. Where does the Host of the Cauldron fit in should we replace him with Kirske or what?

Also considering he is the guy who own half of the planet do you think his enforcers should be more beyond The Vollick (his species) the Weequay, and the Sinsiteens and adding say  Twi'leks, Aqualish, Gamorreans, Zabraks, Drovians, Devaronians, Klatooinians, Nikto, Feeorins, Shistavanens, Rodians, Abyssins, Houks, Gotals, Hassks, Anzatis,  Gigorans, Grans, Trandoshans, Barabels, Chantaanis, Whiphids, and Dowutins

Or just three races  is fine  since he is not a big threat he is simply a local planetary warlord not say Jabba.

Something I was thinking when it comes to the Cauldeon ever since I watch Matt Rhodes videos about Dead gods one of which is the video where he discuss a gladiator arena https://youtu.be/ydETwovUTwo

Where he has a white gorilla in the pit and he was inspired by the white gorillas from John Carter which got me thinking would it be cool is maybe the Cauldron has some sort white gorillas as pit animals or no given what the essential atlas states about the planet

‘’The drumbeat of war and the rattle of bones are the aural accompaniment to existence on Rattatak, an Unknown Regions world where life spans are short and happiness is fleeting.

Rattatak is distinguished by square-walled canyons and dry gullies; its red rocks evoke the hue of spilled blood. The chalk-skinned Rattataki are believed to be the descendants of a forgotten Republic expedition, while the rest of the planet’s population seems to be drawn from hundreds of Unknown Regions worlds. Mercenaries often come to Rattatak and are forced to make it their home when its ruined infrastructure fails to provide offworld passage. Animal life has been hunted nearly into extinction, though a few hungry alpha predators still feed on corpses in the outer wastelands.

Conditions are too harsh on Rattatak to sustain widespread agriculture. The planet’s population has been dying off for centuries. As the grim pace accelerated, a war over resources exploded between Rattatak’s six major federated tribes and countless small syndicates. But the relative backwardness of Rattatak technology restricted their armies to the use of blasters, blades, and bombs. An ebb-and-surge cycle of worldwide wars ground on for generations.

A crafty Rattataki arms merchant exploited the planet’s blood-sport culture by building the Cauldron, an immense gladiatorial arena. Inside its stone pit, local champions and offworld challengers battled to the death while wagering profits fed the arms industry. The Cauldron’s notoriety spread among underworld infochants in the Republic, and the hyperroute to Rattatak became a prize traded among shadow kingpins.’’

Or in this case it would make sense to have animals like the white gorillas fighting in the pit?

How would you expand upon the Thisspiasians based upon the primary references?

Recently I have been making a fan fiction about Oppo Rancisis backstory which means the story will take place during the High Republic era but I need to help to fleshed out and expand upon his species including the blood monarchy,  (such as his sister and mother.)  and Oppo’s backstory in general as well as invented things not found within the source material in which are. Especially since this is set during the High Republic era?

‘’Oppo Rancisis

Disavowing his inherited title, Monarch of Thisspias, Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis is a cunning military strategist. Oppo devised the tactics that allowed the Jedi to win many space battles.’’

–  Star Wars Episode I Who's Who: A Pocket Guide to the Characters of The Phantom Menace  (Published on April 21, 1999.)

‘'Oppo Rancisis

Rancisis, 174 years old as of the Battle of Naboo was incredibly ancient for a snake-bodied Thisspiasian. His mother was the Blood Monarch of Thisspias, but Rancisis was offered to the Jedi Order as a baby, where he was accepted by Master Yaddle as a Padawan. When Rancisis reached the age of twenty, his younger sister was killed when agitators stormed the Thisspias alcazar in Ratamesh. The monarchy reverted to Rancisis but he refused it outright, preferring his life as a Jedi.

Following his role as fleet battle strategist during the Stark Hyperspace Conflict, Rancisis received a position on the Jedi Council. He was also an instructor of Malacia, a Force ability that induces dizziness and nausea.’’

The New Essential Guide to Characters  (Published on April 23, 2002.)

Oppo Rancisis, Jedi Commander

Two centuries before the Battle of Yavin, the Blood Monarch of Thisspias offered her infant son to the Jedi Temple for training. She hoped that when his training was completed he would return to Thisspias, claim the throne, and strengthen the monarchy with the power and wisdom of the Jedi. Oppo was twenty years old when agitators stormed the Thisspias alcazar on Ratamesh and killed his sister. He had inherited the throne of Thisspias, but abdicated in favor of his Jedi Training.

Oppo was one of the dozens of Jedi students who served as Padawan to Jedi Master Yaddle. He became a master of Malacia, a Jedi technique that brings about severe dizziness and nausea without causing real harm. He went on to become a Jedi Master and taught Malacia for two decades at the Jedi Temples on Coruscant. Master Oppo’s shrewd tactics and artful strategies during the Stark Hyperspace Conflict earned recognition from the Jedi Council. He was nominated for a seat on the Council and eventually became a lifetime member.’’

‘’Thisspiasian

An ancient warrior species, Thisspiasians resemble humanoids except for their serpentine lower bodies. The species eagerly joined the Old Republic, and Thisspiasian warriors were instrumental in helping the fledgling Republic overcome many internal and external threats.

A single hereditary monarch rules the Thisspiasian homeworld although an elected parliament deals with most matters of state. Many Thisspiasians consider the monarchy decadent and bound by archaic customs, although the monarchy has taken periodic strides to catch up with the changing views and times.

A Thisspiasian named Oppo Rancisis inherited the position of monarch but later relinquished the title in favor of staying with the Jedi Order. During the Clone Wars. Racisis attempted to persuade the ruling monarch to take a stand against Count Dooku and the Separatists. After losing to Rancisis in a trial of unarmed combat, the Thisspiasian monarch grudgingly allowed Thisspiasian warriors to aid the Republic in several critical battles.

When the Republic gave way to the Empire, the imperials bombarded the Thisspiasian homeworld and enslaved the survivors. An over-zealous Imperial governor seeking to impress the Emperor executed the Thisspiasian monarch and enslaved the crown prince. The Thisspiasians were furious and rebelled, but their initial counterattacks proved futile. It wasn’t until Rebel spies infiltrated the governor’s ranks and rescued the Thisspiasian heir that his people regained hope. The humiliated governor threatened to annihilate the Thisspiasians; ironically, the Emperor sent one of his agents, an Emperor’s Hand, to ‘’deal with the embarrassment,’’ eliminating the witless governor and enforcing a planetwide quarantine. Although several Thisspiasians joined the ranks of the Rebel Alliance, the Thisspiasian homeworld remained under quarantine and imperial rule until shortly after the death of the Emperor.

Following the Battle of Endor, the Thisspiasian crown prince returned home only to discover his subjects engaged in heated debates about whether to restore or replace the monarchy. After a brief yet bloody civil war, the Thisspiasian crown prince claimed his rightful title and took the first steps toward joining the New Republic. Despondent Thisspiasians who survived imperial domination remark that the monarchy has changed precious little in the intervening years: It remains decadent and politically anachronistic.

Although they can function adequately with as few as 2 standard hour of sleep per day, Thisspiasians typically spend 5-6 standard hours per day in a trancelike state akin to sleep.’’

‘’Thisspiasian

Thisspiasians are a reptilian species from Thisspias, a world located in the Expansion Region of the galaxy. They can be clearly distinguished from other reptiles because their upper body appears to be humanoid, typically covered in long flowing hair that emanates from their head and face. Their lower half, however, is serpentine, wrapped in scales similar in color to their hair. Their two sets of hands contain five fingers that end in sturdy, elongated claws. It is believed that Thisspiassians have four hands as a result of their evolution from quadruped reptiles. However, for many Thisspiassians, the smaller, lower set of vestigal arms and hands do not have the strength or dexterity of their larger, upper set. In fact, most upperclass Thisspiassians have taken to wearing voluminous robed garments that hide their second set of limbs completely by omitting a second set of sleeves and incorporating a wide, belt-like sash. In addition, many Thisspiassians go as far as to use hidden apparatuses to bind their lower arms to their bodies. Among this group of Thisspiassians, it is considered unseemly or unsophisticated to publicly show the lower limbs. Physiological studies suggest that over the generations, this may be the cause of the lower limbs’ weakness due to continued biological adaptation. It has been demonstrated that among the working classes, lower limbs do not show a similar muscle weakness.

Their prehensile tails give Thisspiasians the capability to carry heavy objects, freeing up their hands to perform other functions. This makes the species even more effective when they are in combat, as well-trained Thisspiasian warriors may strike out with their tails as well as their hands.

There is one particular Thisspiasian trait that other species frequently find a little unnerving, and that is their preference for eating their food live. Like their snake-like ancestors, Thisspiasians principally dine on small, live animals such as rodents, birds, and bugs. While they are omnivorous, consuming their fair share of vegetables, a Thissiasian feast would not be complete without several cages of tiny species from around the galaxy being placed in the center of the table. After dipping a treat in several sauces containing various seasonings, a Thisspiasian’s jaw unhinges at the joint, allowing the mouth to widen and take in the animals whole. As they’ve come to be in the presence of more and more offworld species who do not share their enthusiasm for squirming meals, many Thisspiasians have taken to eating cooked food for the benefit of companions and guests of other traditions, thought they have been known to state with certainty that such food is lacking in zesty flavor.

One other prominent reptilian trait is carried on through the Thisspiasian genes: the tendency to shed their skin every few years. Unlike snakes, however Thisspiasians will not slip out of their outer layer of skin in one piece. To ease the process of shedding, and to make the progression less noticeable when in the presence of outsiders, they will lubricate their skin with sweet smelling oils and salves, peeling off the dead membrane in portions during their daily private grooming sessions.

A race of ancient warriors, Thisspiasians have perfected a culture bent on taming their most savage emotions. When the Old Republic was forming, they eagerly joined the fledgling government, aiding it in overcoming threats both internal and external. They are perceived as being calm, wise, and dispassionate, and yet they commonly manage this through several hours a day of intense meditation. Average Thisspiasians meditate for five to six standard hours per day, otherwise, they can become moody and irrational. Because they spend so much time in meditation, they only require about two actual hours of sleep per standard day.

One of the best examples of Thisspiassian mental discipline was displayed by the Old Republic Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis. Combining the natural mental abilities of his species with his Jedi training. Rancisis specialized in Jedi battle meditation. He was able to formulate complex and near-unbeatable battle plans and direct his forces over great distances. His murder at the hands of the fallen Jedi Sora Bulq was a blow to the Republican forces that they were hard pressed to overcome.

The Thisspiasian homeworld is ruled by an absolute leader known as the Blood Monarch. This position is carried on through the bloodline, and it has remained unchanged for thousands of years, although a democratically elected parliament handles much of the legislation on the planet. As with most monarchies, a portion of the populace is of the opinion that the leadership is corrupt, degenerate, and tied to archaic customs  that no longer apply to their modern way of life.

During the waning years of the Old Republic, Master Rancisis inherited the role of Blood Monarch over his homeworld, which he rejected in favor of remaining with the Jedi Order. When Count Dooku threatened the Republic with his Separatist movement, Rancisis asked the standing monarch to help in the struggle against the Separatists. Per species tradition, Rancisis had to best the monarch in unarmed combat to have his boon granted. When the Blood Monarch lost to Rancisis he agreed to lend warriors to several battles.

When the Empire ultimately came to power, Thisspias was bombarded by Imperial warships, and its people were conquered and enslaved. Eager to please the Emperor, an overzealous imperial governor assassinated the Blood Monarch and imprisoned the crown prince. The outraged Thisspiasians rebelled, but their insurrection was quickly subdued by the Imperials’ superior firepower. Not long afterward, Rebel spies infiltrated the Imperial troops’ headquarters on Thisspias and freed the prince. Humiliated, the governor threatened the Thisspiasians with annihilation, but he was eliminated by the Emperor’s Hand before he could enact his threats. The Hand had been sent to punish the governor for his failure to hold the Thisspiasian heir. The world was then placed under military quarantine, though several Thisspiasians slipped out to join the ranks of the Rebel Alliance.

Following the Battle of Endor, the crown prince of Thisspias returned to reclaim his throne. When he did, he found himself rebuffed as a vocal portion of his people were declaring their desire for a more democratic government. This confrontation incited a brief yet extremely bloody civil war, wherein the Blood Monarch was returned to power. During the years of the New Republic and the subsequent Galactic Alliance, the people of Thisspias have become convinced that the monarchy has evolved very little, remaining tied to its decadent lifestyle and largely antiquated ancient political traditions.’’

‘’Thisspiasian

Thisspiasians are a people with great passions tempered by measured calm and discipline. They are attached to tradition but also quick to adopt the new blending both together seamlessly. The Galactic Empire has failed to suppress their spirit. In fact, their defiance might spawn a new wave of Force-sensitive warriors.

Physiology: Thisspiasians are two-meter tall serpentine creatures with four arms, distinct flowing beards, and long hair surrounding their heads and faces. The lower two sets of arms are somewhat vestigial in nature and Thisspiasians usually keep them hidden beneath their clothes. Their reptilian nature encourages constant movement and activity to maintain blood flow. Though Thisspiasians sleep for a couple of hours  a day, their main form of rest is a physiological condition similar to a trance that can last for minutes or hours. The trance provides the neurological repair necessary for good mental and physical health. Just like how other sentient beings who miss sleep can become emotional and irritable, so do Thisspiasians if they skip this trancelike state.

Society: Outsiders consider Thisspiasians walking (slither-ing) contradictions. Their history values tradition and their culture continues to practice several dozen small rituals and practices (such as eating their food live) taken from a myriad of historical Thisspiasan cultures and civilizations. This  doesn’t mean that Thisspiasians are rigid or dogmatic they have been remarkably fluid in adapting to new technology and spacefaring cultural norms. Plenty of planet-born Thisspiasians have loathed giving up eating live thissp mice, but once offworld, they quickly adopt the practice of cook-ing their meals without complaint. (When returning to their homeworld, however, a common practice is to gorge on a live mouse banquet.)

Most outsiders know Thisspiasians only because of the fighters who volunteered to service in the Galactic Republic’s military during its initial founding. Tales depicted them as passionate and aggressive in one moment and calm and reasoned the next. This is no doubt due to the nature of their work; war and combat have a tendency to bring out extremes in any sentient being. Outsiders who first meet a Thisspiasian perceive them as tranquil and calm, but amongst friends, family, or on their homeworld. The individual in question might be loud and boisterous. Perhaps the initial impression was simply a self-imposed politeness in a sea of alien faces.

The confluence of reasons why the Thisspiasians joined the Republic requires an understanding of the Thisspiasian character. A constitutional monarchy ruled the homeworld at the time. The Blood Monarchy, a hereditary line that led back over twenty thousands years, technically provided cultural leadership, but a democratic parliament maintained practical, day-to-day governance. Even before the Galactic Republic, the monarchy was already a holdover from ancient times. The Then-current Blood Monarch saw an opportunity to expand Thisspias’ economy but to also secure her reign by joining the Republic. The decision was met with the usual acceptance of a society in flux: via loud, angry discussions and some mild violence.

At the same time, the planet saw a resurgence of ancient Thisspiasian martial disciplines (see the sidebar Warriors for the Galactic Reublic on the preceding page). The Blood Monarch gave these warriors-monk societies, generally conservative and pro-independence, a purpose; join the Republic and fight for Thisspiasian glory. The gambit worked, and the planet’s monarchy became a paradoxical symbol for galactic democracy.

Currently, an Imperial Governor controls the politics and governance of the planet, but the population seethes with anger, frustration, and rebellion. Originally, the Empire had occupied the planet to suppress Republic loyalists, but also to recruit Thisspiasians to the Empire in light of their ‘blood-thirsty and barbaric’’ warrior culture. Flooding the planet with anti-Republic propaganda, the Empire hammered on the decadence and distance of the Republic and offered the Thisspiasians a chance to fight for the Empire. The Thisspiasians answered with resistance. Orbital bombardments followed, and the Thisspiasians answered with more resistance.  Finally, the Governor removed the Blood Monarch and demanded subservience. Instead the empty monarchical seat serves as a potent symbol for insurrection.

On the other hand, many Thisspiasians still consider the hereditary line wasteful and archaic. This tension between royalists and monarchical abolitionists has been both dampened in some ways and intensified in others. The Imperial occupation forced these differing factions to work together and, on the surface, the groups hold no animosity toward each other. Thisspiasians can already see fractures, however, Royalists wear the quills of the giant ystervark both as a symbol of their loyalty and as a makeshift weapon. A few carry a small vial of blood. A statement of their genetic link to the Blood Monarch’s line. Abolitionists, in turn, wear a small pin in the shape of of a cygnet (a small native biting pest). This pin concerns even some moderate Thisspiasians, since nearly two hundred years ago the terrorists who assassinated the Blood Monarch wore a similar symbol.

If Thisspias survives the Galactic Civil War, historians wonder which symbol and resultant rituals will become the dominant part of their cultural lexicon: the ystervark quill, the cygnet pin, or the Imperial crest?  Or perhaps Thisspiasians will buck tradition and choose a new symbol altogether?

Homeworld: Thisspias rocky temperate world in Expansion Region. The homeworld joined the Galactic Republic enthusiastically despite its distance from Coruscant, sending warriors to bolster the fledgling Republic army. As a result, Thisspias has benefited from membership in the Senate while acting as a magnet for trouble in other moments in history.

For example, because of its close association with the Galactic Republic and physical location in the galaxy, Thisspias has been the site of many historical battles, such as the conflicts during the Great Manifest Period. These various battles have been immortalized with monuments or through the actual relics of war.

On the other hand, membership in the Galactic Senate allowed Thisspias to wield plenty of influence, especially to protect the homeworld. As pivot point between the Core and the Outer Rim, Thisspias benefited from a volume of trade and cultural exchange. Their people have plenty of reasons to remain loyal to the Galactic Republic.

Language: Although planet-bound individuals are mostly literate in Thisspiasian, those who traveled offworld learned to read and write Basic quickly. The Empire has been trying to stamp out their language, but each attempt only emboldens them more. A few eschew learning Basic altogether in protest, but they are chided as foolish.

Perception of the Force: Some Thisspiasians practice meditation while in their trancelike rest, using guided focus and discipline to sort thoughts and feelings. A select few push further, opening their minds and spirits to touch upon the Force. Furthermore, Oppo Rancisis, the Blood Monarch heir who lived decades before the rise of the Empire, became a Jedi Master and refused to take the throne. This historical connection to the Jedi Order and the common practice of meditation give Thisspiasians a strong connection to the Mystic tradition and to the Force.

Warriors for the Galactic Republic:

After their civilization joined the Republic, thousands of Thisspiasians volunteered for the military. This gave them a reputation of being a warrior race. The misconception has some merit. Those who volunteered had been practicing war and combat, both in ritualized forms and with modern military training and tactics. A large number of these volunteers had also taken on various old, largely forgotten (and a bit archaic) monastic practices. These warrior monks stormed the fields carrying blaster rifles in one set of arms and ancient Thisspiasian Ouro blades in the other. They wore the standard uniforms of the Republic, but adorned them with the pins, jewelry, and colors of their historical warrior orders.”

Like I said I need really some help when making this story plus I also how should I describe the architecture when it come for anthropology as well as what kind of real world influences and inspirations for their society, history, religion, and culture even to the fashion clothing  should I use?

Also I want to make sure that I would able to prevent the Desert fatigue that Star Wars is suffering receiving when it come for Thisspias?

  1. Note: Ratamesh was introduced in the reference book The New Essential Guide to characters, written by Daniel Wallace and published on April 23, 2002. the 2009  reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Ratamesh system, and therefore Ratamesh itself, in grid square O-8. In The New Essential Guide to Characters, the preposition "in" is used in conjunction with the proper name "Ratamesh" when providing context for the Thisspias alcazar, suggesting that they were both locations on Thisspias. In the Power of the Jedi Sourcebook, a Wizards of the Coast roleplaying game sourcebook published in August 2002 for use with the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, most of the wording regarding Ratamesh from The New Essential Guide to Characters is kept, except the preposition "on" is used, suggesting instead that it was an astronomical object separate from Thisspias. So I need help on which make more sense the former or the latter statement when it comes to resolving on what the Ratamesh is?
  2. Note: when it comes to the dates like 200 BBY keep in mind this is before the High Republic era was thing as that have Oppo aged up a bit although I’m curious to hear you guys think on this change do you all prefer the original birthdate being 206 or 200 BBY or given the fact they are aliens it make sense for Oppo to have a longer lifespan. Otherwise it does make you wonder because of this long lifespan implications . How many Blood Monarchs there are like could the Blood Monarch that replace Oppo’s sister as monarch could be the same monarch during the Clone Wars or no it could a son or grandson or something same with the crown prince?
  3. Note:  Finally in  the micro series of the Clone Wars (regardless of the continuity of that show it provides something cool.) According to Yoda himself in the Jedi Council about Anakin’s knighthood Rancisis was a rebellious student, in his youth disobeying Yoda's instructions. Otherwise when do you think it happened in the timeline of his life?

Did the Huk or the yam'rii have any redeeming or good qualities or would you describe them as they are just pure evil akin to the Rakatan Empire or the Qu from All Tomorrows?

Granted we don’t have much lore about their society or political government. But the lore that we do have such as that card for that member in A New Hope and mostly the Star Wars Insider 86 where we learn about Grievous backstory paint their society as evil akin to the Rakatan empire from the pre-republic era or the Qu from all tomorrow. Especially the whole enslaving the Kaleesh and their war with lasted for generations before Grievous was born!

Since the novel Tarkin reference Cloak of Deception with the Eriadu Trade Summit. What aspects from the book that needed to be changed in order to fit canon?

honestly, the only thing I think of in terms of what to change to fit with the larger canon is only a few for an example Tarkin in cloak is described as Lieutenant Governor of Eriadu whereas in Tarkin (which are written by James Luceno.) Tarkin what stated to be the governor of Eriadu full time when he resign the judicial forces and return to Eriadu. The book well not see that kind of implied that Tarkin know about Palpatine being a Sith and was also behind the whole assassination of the Trade Federation Board of Directors.

While The Tarkin novel does mention of Tarkin stonewalling Valorum’s attempts to investigate what happened on the summit it was mostly stated to be more of helping his friend Palpatine because how much he hated the corruption or the blue core world elites like Valorum and his family who allow the Republic and the galaxy to rot.

Plus to be honest, I prefer the idea that Tarkin by Cloak wasn’t that involved with the assassination of the trade federation board the only thing he did was simply taking advantage of Valorum wanting to investigate on what happened and just blocked it because to him Valorum is a weak leader and should replace with someone like Palpatine.

Finally, there is also Luminara Undil characterization in this book obviously you could argue as the first appearance for the character, and given the fact that she is stated to be a Jedi Knight and sings, the book never mentioned her having an apprentice or at least Barriss being a Padawan by this point, it’s likely Luminara is like a newly jedi knight appetite in the book she played a key role in stopping The Nebula Front and basically being a good member of the Jedi Order whereas in the clone wars she is kinda the exact opposite in that show.

Yes I know that the clone wars was a bit divisive when it comes to legends continuity, but still it’s Canon regardless of people’s feelings I personally dislike Grievous in the show like I don’t mind him being a coward given revenge of the Sith established that not to mention even in the brilliant micro series from 2003 they do give an explanation where Dooku told Grievous you must have fear, intimidation, and surprise. So I don’t mind that aspect. I was just more upset of him not killing enough, Jedi outside of literally 1 (which is Nahdar Vebb from season 1.) then him being a complete coward.

But that is about it when it comes to spotting things that I feel if Lucasfilm want to re-canonize the novel they can make a few changes like the ones I point out.

How would you expand upon the asogians like how much of their lore from the book of the green planet would we incorporate when it comes to their species, planet, and culture. And how much we have to invent in terms of fitting it into the overall Star Wars universe?

In case you don’t know what alien species they are they are the name of the ET species from Spielberg iconic film, ET. They made a brief cameo in the Phantom Menace.

Now when Lucas was making the phantom menace Spielberg suggested he include a member of E.T.'s species as a background character. Since Spielberg himself had included a character in a Yoda costume in E.T.

Furthermore when James Luceno wrote the book Cloak of Deception he expanded on the in-joke by naming the character of Grebleips "Spielberg" spelled backwards and giving him the homeworld of Brodo Asogi, a name given to E.T.'s planet in the spin-off novel E.T.: The Book of the Green Planet.

I do wondered let’s say I decide to make my own fanmade encyclopedia for alien species. Something I came to the new essential guide to alien species from years ago and I decide to make an entry for the Asogians how much their lore should I incorporate from the book of the Green planet.

I will admit I haven’t read the book but from what I understand of people who read the book The book is kind of a trippy ride given it was from the 1980s. for an example, the planet ET is from is actually some sort of telepathic sentient planet or something. Granted Star Wars had been a lot of weird places before like the Whales in Rebels but for some reason, I’m pretty sure a telepathic sentient planet isn’t one of them after all, we don’t have a planet that is similar to ego from marvel.

hence, why I was thinking how much we can take from this book and how much we have to invented a few things to make it fit into the larger Star Wars universe. For an example Maybe Brodo Asogi is connected to the living force or the cosmic force. Basically we could have the planet being a Vergance in the Force?

Especially when I have to invent things to Filling the Gaps such as whether or not there would Jedi or Sith members of the species? also, from what I understand the book kind of makes ET like 10 million years old while interesting maybe for Star Wars we could either keep that or just downplay it maybe just have the species lifespan to be 300 years.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments below about this thought experiment I have currently?

About Halo Campaign Evolved Terminals?

I do wonder where do these terminals fit with the Priority Broadcast Log/Eleventh Cycle, Third Unit from the Adjunct section in Halo the Flood novel in terms of placement in the timeline for the Battle of Alpha Halo?

also, if I remember from one of Hiddenxperia videos when he covers the Cortana letters, even if they are a pretty non-cannon and pretty early lore. But still, he also covered the covenant transmissions one of which is a transmission from Shipmaster Lat ‘Ravamee of the Truth and Reconciliation where he was badmouthing the pillar of autumn or at least Cortana herself. Either way, I do wonder if that transmission could still be Canon even if it is still early lore? If’s so where would it fit into the larger timeline of the battle of Alpha Halo?

Also in case you are wondering what I’m saying here is a leak to the transmissions

https://bungie.fandom.com/wiki/Halo_Transmissions

Which species, societies, cultures or even factions, do you think is the most fleshed out lore wise and which one think you think is the least flash out that you think it’s worth expanded and going into Details?

Obviously, a perfect example is the Mandalorians who regardless of continuity are the most fleshed out society in lore heck we even have a dictionary of their own language.

That said the other group I’m thinking about is the Ghormans while we don’t have a dictionary for them we know that their language is French and Andor does do a great job, showing their society and culture before the empire ruins everything!

Since George Lucas plays Baron Papanoida while Martin Scorsese voices Hugo Durant. I wondered what kind of roles or characters would Spielberg, Coppola, and Palma be like in Star Wars whether it is cameos, or just tributes in order to complete the big 5 group?

Granted Spielberg is an interesting case because when Lucas was making the phantom menace Spielberg suggested he include a member of E.T.'s species as a background character. Since Spielberg himself had included a character in a Yoda costume in E.T.

Furthermore when James Luceno wrote the book Cloak of Deception he expanded on the in-joke by naming the character of Grebleips "Spielberg" spelled backwards and giving him the homeworld of Brodo Asogi, a name given to E.T.'s planet in the spin-off novel E.T.: The Book of the Green Planet.

so technically speaking Spielberg is in Star Wars so that’s three down already all we need is to figure out for Coppola and Palma.

Coppola is a lot easier because a lesser known fact that his daughter Sofia was in the Phantom Menace as a cameo as the Handmaiden Saché, born Sashah Adova. Since we don’t know much about her personal life beyond what the queen’s trilogy gives us my headcanon is that her father is one of Naboo famous wine makers a reference to Coppola wine company. Hell this winery could be located in the Lake Country of Naboo. The vintage could be called **"Adova Reserve,"**known across Naboo as a deeply complex, ruby-red nectar favored by the Naboo nobility and high-ranking Senators.

Now Palma is kinda hard and a lot more difficult to come up with. Either his character is similar to Tony Montana or maybe Carlito Brigante. But like I said, this is a lot more difficult than say Coppola I would like to know you guys your opinions and ideas for a Star Wars character, that could be a reference or tribute to Palma?

ultimately I know this post may be a bit pointless. I just thought it’s a worth a thought experiment or exercise considering the fact that Coppola, Palma, Lucas, Spielberg, and Scorsese aren’t just friends in real life, but also they are what I called the big five filmmakers in Hollywood history.

Which version/depiction of The Origins and Training for Padme’s Handmaidens you prefer more Legends or Canon?

Obviously, the book Queen’s peril does not need an introduction because I’m pretty sure everyone knows what it is. But I do want to give an introduction on what is queen in disguise beyond the fact that it is a forgotten has been released in February 2000 so a year after the Phantom Menace.

Queen in Disguise is a children’s picture book written by Monica Kulling and illustrated by John Alvin. it is a Jedi Readers step 2 young readers publication, which tells a story of Padme handmaiden’s heavily training to protect her without knowing that Amidala herself is his training with them.

I know this post maybe a bit pointless given we are comparing well known book to a very obscure one. But still I’m curious on this whole prefer legends and canon version is because I want to created something like a council of nicaea type thing or at least an internal bible plus I‘m always been a people person to hear the fandom directly Fly on the way style. it just nice to hear everyone opinions on the matter and settle the matter!

Did Ventress still took over the planet Rattatak as its ruler after overthrowing the Warlords still canon or that detail is no longer canon?

I know some people always debate about Ventress and which species makes more sense nightsister or her being Rattataki before the Clone Wars retcon. But since this debate is always pick to death I‘m not wanting to discuss that. What I’m more interested in is her being the ruler of Rattatak still Canon or not anymore?

In chapter 13 of the novel Dark Disciple  Ventress says this to Quinlan Vos

“When I was an infant, my clan was forced to surrender me to a criminal. I became his slave, but he was a surprisingly kind master. He was killed when I was still quite young during an attack by Weequay raiders. I was rescued by a Jedi Knight Named Ky Narec, who sensed that I was strong in the force. He was stranded on Rattatak, and he took me under his wing. I became his Padawan.'' ''You were trained by a Jedi?" Vos stared openly at her. Ventures nodded and clenched her teeth for a moment. Sorrow gripped her heart and she let it. ''For ten years we helped the people of Rattatak. We became heroes to most but to some, we were the enemy.'' ''The Jedi are always enemies to some.'' Vos said. ''Narec died in front of my eyes. He, too, was killed by Weequay,'' Ventress continued. Speaking the words opened the gates even more and she felt a flare of the old, never quite-gone pain. . . and the comfort cold but real of hatred. ''You may noticed I dislike them I vowed vengeance, and I got it. Soon the warlords were dead, and I ruled in their place. It was on Rattatak that dooku found me and I him.'' she shrugged. ''I hated the Jedi for abandoning my master, and dooku wanted an apprentice as filled with hatred as he was. It was a good match.''

– Dark Disciple Chapter 13 (published in 2015.)

Now what the book mentions is from older elements of Ventress’ backstory such as her conquering the warlords and ruling in their place on Rattatak before Dooku finds her there.

That comes from Republic issue 60 and here is what the dialogue from the comics itself by Osika Kirske himself (who is the essentially the Joe chill of Ventress backstory.)

''My Name is Osika Kirske I was once the ruler of more than half this planet. Rattatak is a world of warriors and soldiers for eons we have battled one another for the right to rule we knew nothing of the outside galaxy or your Republic but still found new and inventive ways to kill one another. All my life I had only known victory in war I conquered many cities and killed many of my rivals. But there were many other warlords who struggled for power including Ventress parents. They assembled a massive army in the southern hemisphere.  I killed her parents before they could become a real threat.  Only the girl Asajj escaped soon after a warlock fell out of the sky he claimed to be an emissary from another world your republic.  So of course we tried to kill him.  On her own Asajj would have died left to his own devices the stranger would have undoubtedly been captured and killed but together. They became something our world had never known . . . they became heroes. They ended wars and united armies and as their legend grew. We heard stories for the girl using strange powers she could move things with her mind and control the thoughts of her enemies it was said. So I convinced the other warlords and generals to join forces at least long enough to Kill Ventress and her master. We completed only half of our plan. ‘After her mentor’s death ventress assembled an army she learned new tricks from other off-worlders she waged war on us all.  She killed or captured all who could oppose her.”

– Republic issue 60  (Published  on January 28, 2004.)

Basically, this is the primary source that Dark Disciple is referencing granted while the book adapts the unproduced scripts from  The Clone Wars series (when it was cancelled.) since we don’t have those scripts to compared to the novel, we don’t know how much of this dialogue from Dark Disciple Chapter 13 is from the scripts themselves or it was made by Author Christie Golden herself (who is simply referencing Ventress legends backstory kinda like what Luceno did in the novel Tarkin where he reference stuff from Darth Plagueis.)  now this isn’t the first time we see something like this for an example her novel, Lord of the clans from Warcraft is based of the canceled Warcraft adventures game and When that game got leaked in 2016  there are a couple differences between both the book and the game like the game doesn’t have the character of Taretha Foxton didn't exist and thus did not help Thrall escape Durnholde. Thrall escapes on his own after he is sentenced to be executed. I just thought it’s interesting worth pointing out when an author adapts a script or game concept, they often have to fill in thematic gaps or rely on preexisting lore elements to make a narrative flow smoothly. So it could be possible that the script from Dark Disciple didn’t feature the scene in chapter 13?

The reason why I wanted this out is because

On April 30, 2019, DookuJedi Lost attempted to bring together pieces of all of the different sources detailing Ventress’ backstory and unite them in one new narrative. The audio references the idea that Rattatak’s warlords banded together to have Ky Narec killed only for Ventress to then kill them off one by one. Kirske is again said to have been the one who ordered the murder, but rather than Ventress capturing and imprisoning Kirske like in the original republic 60 comic, it’s revealed that Kirske instead captured her and forced her to fight as a gladiator, and Just like in the 2D series, Dooku watches her fight in that arena and decides to take her as his apprentice, shocking her with lightning when she challenges him.

Here is the excerpt of that scene in Dooku Jedi Lost

“Dooku:

Of course you want to kill me. You are a killer. That is what you do. That is why I chose you. Do you think I came to Rattatak by chance? That I somehow stumbled upon your pit?

Ventress:

(PAINED)  NO . . .

Dooku:

The Force showed me.  It showed me a Dathomiri sold to save her coven. A slave liberated from captivity. A Padawan forced to watch her Master bleed out in the dirt.

Ventress:

Please . . .

Dooku:

Is that how they begged, your victims, as you took revenge, as you slaughtered every Rattataki who conspired to murder your Master?  I wish I’d seen it, Ventress. I wish I’d seen their faces when they realized the storm they’d unleashed.

Ventress:  (Narration)

Somehow, despite the lightning, despite the pain, I relive each and every moment. Feeling the fury swell inside me, my lightsabers a blur, their screams like music.

I never knew how sweet revenge would taste,  how the fear in their eyes sated the angry in my belly.

Ky would have told me that it wasn’t the Jedi way, but  I didn’t care. I had taken the Jedi way and rammed it down their throats along with my fist.

Zol Kramer. Rynn’k-lee. They all fell, one after another.

Until I faced Kirske. Until I faced the scumsnake who had ordered Ky’s death.

I’d thought he’d be like the others. I thought he would pay. I thought he would suffer as I was suffering.

I was wrong. I was blindsided by my own vanity, so sure that I would emerge victorious. So convinced. I never expected Kirske to use himself as bait until it was too late, until I’d raced toward him, lightsabers blazing.

Until the trap had been sprung.

That’s why Dooku found me, not surrounded by the corpses of my enemies, but forced to spill blood for the entertainment of others, a gladiator in a filthy pit.  Stun collar tight around my neck.

Could he sense  my regret?  My rage?

For my part,  I had no idea who he was, just the latest in a long line of spectators enjoying the hospitality of Osika Kirske’s viewing gallery.  I had no idea he’d told Kirske he was looking for an assassin, or that he’d already made his choice.

I don’t know who was more surprised when Dooku took Kirske’s head, me or the Vollick himself. One minute Dooku was sipping wine from a crystal glass, and the next his crimson lightsaber was slicing through Kirske’s neck.

The Vollick’s head bounced down into the arena, a shocked expression on his face as it bounced once and then twice before coming to rest at my feet.

I couldn’t celebrate. I couldn’t revel in Kirske’s death I should’ve been the one to deal the killing blow, to snuff out his life, and yet this . . . this stranger with fine clothes and an imperious gaze had stolen my revenge.

“I leapt from the arena floor, the Force propelling me up to the gallery, my lightsabers already burning. Dooku was waiting for me. Two blades against one. There was no way the old man should've been able to defend himself, and yet he did. He blocked every attack, parried every blow, giving no ground, taking no damage.

He didn't even spill his wine. And then it came. His lightning. It felt like every atom in my body was being torn apart, every memory I had shredding beneath the onslaught. Mother Talzin. Hal'Sted. Ky. They were all gone, consumed in the pain of Dooku's dark magic.

I don't remember my lightsabers slipping from my hands. I don't even remember blacking out.

The next thing I knew, I was being grabbed by mechanical hands, dragged through unfamiliar corridors. My stun collar was gone, the air cool against my charred skin. I remember hearing birds as I was hauled past open windows. That's when I knew I was no longer on Rattatak. The only birds on Rattatak are the strike-vultures that strip bones clean on the dust plains.

He was waiting for me in the great hall, in the exact same place as he stands now, looking down at me with eyes as black as a starless sky.

"I will teach you the ways of the dark side, but first, you must prove yourself."

– Dooku Jedi Lost  Part One

As you could see, there is no mention of her line in Dark Disciple "Soon, the warlords were dead, and I ruled in their place." Anyway in Dooku Jedi Lost both in the audio drama nor in the script for the Audio drama. It seems the way Dooku Jedi Lost presented this event is that after her Jedi Master Ky Narec was murdered, she went on a bloody campaign of vengeance. Think of what happened in the movie  kill Bill or in the John Wick movies before she goes after Kirske blue eye samurai episode six style where Mizu attacks Fowler castle. (In fact now

Actually the more I think about it. if we get a book (say written by Delilah S. Dawson.) or a miniseries covering this time period  it would be cool Ventress go full John Wick level of killing Kirske’s enforcers (they are mostly made of Weequay pirate raiders from before, but also Siniteena, Twi'leks, Aqualish, Gamorreans, Zabraks, Drovians, Devaronians, Klatooinians, Nikto, Feeorins, Shistavanens, Rodians, Abyssins, Houks, Gotals, Hassks, Anzatis,  Gigorans, Grans, Trandoshans, Barabels, Chantaanis, Whiphids, and Dowutins as well as one or more Gen’Dai  along with Kirske‘s own men mostly Vollick, Rattataki, Trogodiles, and Bugnaught.) I think it would be great sequence imagined Blue Eye Samurai episode 6 but with lightsabers with a 16 year old Ventress which I recommend it is a great show on Netflix. which make sense considering well Lucas used samurai movies as a major influence for the franchise.)

Basically rather than a grand military commander leading armies, it seems canon as presented in Dooku Jedi Lost has Ventress being a lone, angry teenager weaponizing the Dark Side to tear through a massive criminal underworld rather than taking over the planet as stated in Dark Disciple.

Like I said  it possible that When Christie Golden wrote Dark Disciple, she was adapting unproduced scripts from The Clone Wars Season 6/7. It is highly likely the line "Soon the warlords were dead, and I ruled in their place" was either in the original script or added by Golden to bridge narrative gaps. To do this, she relied heavily on Ventress's original backstory from the 2004 comic Star Wars: Republic #60and the 2003 Clone Wars micro-series, where Ventress genuinely became a military commander who conquered the planet.

Granted it could be possible that there’s a tweet from Cavan Scott himself (who wrote Dooku Jedi lost.) that her being the ruler of the planet could still be canon. But until then I’m assuming that the whole part of her being a ruler is no longer canon and to be honest I prefer how the events were presented in Dooku Jedi lost because as awesome as Ventress is I can’t really buy her being a planetary queen as she never strikes me as one anyway sure Dooku uses her for "diplomatic" missions early in The Clone Wars (like manipulating King Katuunko of Toydaria in Season 1). However, she was never acting on her own political merit she was just acting as Dooku's terrifying mouthpiece. She could mimic the posture of elegance because Dooku refined her, gave her a sophisticated wardrobe, and taught her the aristocratic mannerisms of the Makashi lightsaber form. Beneath that polished Sith Acolyte exterior, she was always the feral gladiator from the pits of Rattatak.  it’s one thing for being a diplomat. It’s another thing of being a planetary ruler of an entire planet.

I just think that it would make sense that she was captured by Kirske and become a gladiator before Dooku arrived on the planet rather than being the ruler of a planet otherwise after her betrayed and the Nightsister massacre, you would’ve think she would return to Rattatak to build an army rather than becoming a bounty hunter which she ends up doing.

Plus, I like the idea of Ventress during this time being a lot more feral and savage before Dooku find her.

I remember this quote from Robert E. Howard that I feel sums of Ventress time on Rattatak especially after Narec’s death and before Dooku took her as his acolyte.

"Barbarism is the natural state of mankind," the borderer said, still staring somberly at the Cimmerian. "Civilization is unnatural. It is a whim of circumstance. And barbarism must always ultimately triumph."

— Robert E. Howard, “ beyond the Black River,” Chapter VIII: Conajohara No More (1935)

But what do all you think. Let me know in the comments below do you all prefer for her to be a planetary queen on Rattatak after overthrowing the warlords as stated in Dark Disciple or you think it makes more sense of her failing and became a gladiator before Dooku finds her.

Also, if the dark disciple arc does get animated in the near future. Do you think they would keep the line “Soon the warlords were dead, and I ruled in their place.” or this line has to be rewritten, changed, and re-recorded to match what Dooku Jedi Lost stated granted I know Filoni maybe not the best in terms of Canon but it is fascinating to think about.

What do we know about The Separatist taking over Utapau? Was it a full invasion or the planet simply surrendered?

obviously we know that Dooku and Grievous had their eyes on the planet since the crystal crisis arc of the clone wars. (granted we don’t know if it’s still Canon given if It could still animatics and we see in season seven of the clone wars that they changed what happened between the animatics and the finish products for an example we see Ahsoka becoming friends with a boy before being changed into two sisters so maybe in the finish product Utapau would be no longer be the planet that has the kyber crystal and the main setting of the crystal crisis arc by switch into a different planet.) and by the time of revenge of the Sith the planet is held hostage by Grievous.

So there is a gap of information that we don’t know about Utapau history between the crystal crisis arc and revenge of the Sith. Like besides one comment from Tion medon (in case you don’t remember, he’s the guy that Kenobi talk to you with the famous line “thousands of battle droids.” about them being held hostage we don’t get further details of how did the separatist conquer the planet through violence or the planet simply surrendered without bloodshed. Now there are two different sources about this

first, you have the iconic painting by Ryan church in the graphic novel Star Wars Visionaries (which Canon status is debatable, but it’s a worth read.) call Utapau‘s surrenders which depicts the capitulation of the planet to Grievous. The painting was set inside one of Utapau's sinkholes, and its foreground depicted a red-robed Pau’an individual (Possibly Tion Medon himself.) kneeling before Grievous and presenting him with a staff, with three additional similarly dressed figures standing a short distance behind. Also occupying the foreground was a humanoid individual ensnared in a leash held by one of Grievous's four arms. the background stood hundreds more robed figures below a group of  vulture droids flying out from the lowest of three core ships descending into the sinkhole. In case you haven’t seen it here is the leak to the painting

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Utapau_Surrenders?action=edit&section=2

Now the painting itself is beautiful, but I think there is likely some artistic license (in universe wise.) and propaganda. Is it possible that Grievous had a personal humanoid slave like the one in the painting probably not because well when you think of Grievous him being a slave master isn’t one of them even if the guy is evil The only thing that he does cat is his pet from the lair of grievance, but that’s about it. So it’s likely that the slave is just artistic license and probably doesn’t exist in reality. That being said the idea of their being a theatrical ceremony of the plant surrender and well core ships descending into the sink holes and the people gI’ve Grievous one of their staffs could still very well happened it just fits with how real world ceremonies when a country is surrendered to a foreign power. Plus, let’s be honest it fits Grievous ego in general of course he would want something that is so granite theatrics.

The second source is the revenge of the Sith visual dictionary by James Luceno. Again Not too much detail here but we do get some info because in the Tion Medon character entry itself. It states that he was horrified when he witnessed the Magnaguards murdering the committee members of the planet. (which is very interesting because we mostly seen The Magnaguards in duels with the Jedi and having blasters as shown in battlefront two from 2005 or in the clone war series from 2008. So it’s kind of interesting to picture them doing something like this. In fact when reading this line, I always envision this as the guards surrounding the committee members and use their electrostaffs as some sort of clubs and brutally beat them to death.)

it’s also worth pointing out that both the visual, dictionary and visionaries graphic novel were released on the same day in April 2, 2005. So there must’ve been a coordination or communication between both authors when it comes to their respective sources or there is a miscommunication together given how sources sort of portrayed how Utapau was captured by the separatists.

But what do you think? Which version do you think makes sense and prefer more especially fitting with the line of Utapau being hostage from revenge of the Sith. Was the planet in taken by force or realizing inevitable Utapau surrender the planet before things bloody. or maybe both events could still happen. It’s just different stages. Let me know in the comments below.

Was Dooku Yoda’s final apprentice before Luke Skywalker or it really was Ki-Adi-Mundi at least when it comes to the Canon continuity?

I know in legends timeline Ki-Adi-Mundi is stated to be Yoda’s final apprentice before Luke but I’m not really sure if it is the case In Canon especially since Ki-Adi-Mundi birthdate is different in canon.

I seen some people say Count Dooku is Yoda‘s final apprentice before Luke now I’m not sure but if it’s still true, I think thematically it fits where Yoda second to last apprentice fell to the dark side, whereas his very last apprentice in the form of Luke Skywalker didn’t succumb to the dark side.

I also wonder since the book Star Wars absolutely everything you need to know at least the copy that I own from 2015. I don’t have the updated version states that Yoda trained 20,000 Jedi over his lifetime. I wonder what does that mean is the estimated number refers to the amount of students instructed kind of like when he’s training young Jedi initiates or the 20,000 number refers to individual Jedi under him like say Kantam Sy, Dooku, and Luke skywalker.

if it’s the latter, I wonder does that mean Luke Skywalker is the 20,000th Jedi Yoda ever trained or maybe it refers to say 20,000 Jedi he trained before order 66?

[Spoilers Extended] How was Mysaria in the Fire & Blood book?

i’m just curious on how is Mysaria in the actual fire and blood book compared to her show counterpart given the people tend to find the character annoying mostly for her subplot and the accent from the show. (my opinion of her indifference I totally get the hate but at the same time I had nothing against the actress herself.)

Otherwise is she better written in the actual fire and blood book or not?

How would you expand upon Rattatak?

In case you don’t know Rattatak is the adopted planet of Ventress before she becomes Dooku’s student and the planet, where her master Ky Narec died?

Now the planet first appeared famously in the clone wars micro series from 2003 it is the setting of chapter 6 and 7 where Ventress first appeared in Star Wars. Beyond that it also appears in a flashback in The Clone Wars series from 2008  mostly in the episode nightsisters when Mother Talzin was healing Ventress after Dooku betrayed her.

Outside of those visual media the only time that Ventress return the planet again was in Republic issue 60 when she imprisoned Kenobi after the Battle of Jabiim.

Ultimately, I feel outside of serving the planet that Ventress grew up There is a missed opportunity to expand the planet further.

Thankfully, we do have a lot of material to work with the first two are from the essential Atlas and the planet entry from the  old databank.

“The drumbeat of war and the rattle of bones are the aural acocompliment to existence rattaakk an unknown regions world where life spans are short and happiness is fleeting. Rattatak is disgtuinshed by square walled canyons and dry gullies it red rocks evoke the hue of spilled blood.”

The chalk-skinned Rataraki are believed o be the descendants of a forgotten Republic expedition, while the rest of the planers population seems to be drawn from hundreds of Unknown Regions worlds. Mercenaries often come to Rattatak and are forced to make it their home when its ruined infrastructure fails to provide offworld passage. Animal life has been hunted nearly into extinction, though a few hungry alpha predators still feed on corpses.

Conditions are too harsh on Rattatak to sustain widespread agriculture. The plane's population has been dying off for centuries. As the grim pace accelerated, a war over resources exploded between rattatak six major federated tribes and countless small syndicates but the relative backwardness rattatak technology restructied their armies to the use of blasters blades and bombs an ebb and surge cycle of worldwide wars ground on for generations.

A crafty Rattataki arms merchant exploited the planet’s  blood-sport culture by building the Cauldron, an immense gladiatorial arena. Inside its stone pit, local champions and offworld challengers battled to the death while wagering profits fed the arms industry. The Cauldron's notoriety spread among underworld infochants in the Republic, and the hyperroute to Rattatak became a prize traded among the shadowpins.”

— The Essential Atlas

Like I said the next source is from the planet entry in the old data bank. Now for context the essential Atlas was published in August 18, 2009. Whereas the old data bank entry was written in November 19, 2003 so it’s one of the earliest lore entries for the planet.

“The small, red world of Rattatak floats in the far Outer Rim like a drop of blood. The planet is so remote that it remained undiscovered by the Republic, and the native humanoid species evolved without the guidance or influence of other galactic forces. Although the species remained primitive, they quickly learned how to kill one another. Scattered resources on the planet led to struggles for survival, and the Rattataki never bothered with the benefits of barter and trade amongst themselves.

As technology evolved, the Rattataki focused all of their efforts on more brutal methods for murder. War became the norm. Over generations of fighting, most of the cities on the planet were reduced to rubble and huge portions of the planet's population became victims of mass genocide. The Rattataki never developed weapons of planetary scale, so the bloody world wars raged on for generations. The ceaseless violence prevented the world from developing space travel, and the Rattataki believed they were alone the galaxy -- they had no concept of galactic community, and only conquering their neighbors seemed important.

Those that discovered Rattatak were unscrupulous slavers common in the Outer Rim. The wiry Rattataki themselves proved to be an unpopular export ? they were simply too difficult to train and too violent to contain. But credits could be made by importing slaves to the war barons, who would pay handsomely for any exotic edge in combat. Mercenary duty was a popular reason to come to Rattatak, though negotiating an end of service often was difficult.

While war continued everywhere else, an enterprising Rattataki from a rare neutral province hatched a lucrative idea. If prospective mercenaries and slave soldiers had to prove themselves in gladiatorial combat, the credits generated from the wagering and the spectacle could be used to buy more soldiers and offworld weapons.

Thus the gladiator pits of Rattatak came to be, and many sprang up in what rare patches of neutral lands could be found on the craggy world. The largest, known as the Cauldron, hosted the best combatants, and war barons and generals would attend, to seek out the soldiers that would win them their wars. Slavers filled the pits with violent candidates -- some would purposely price the more successful warriors out of the purchase range of the Rattataki generals, as their gladiators were more profitable from fighting multiple battles than being sold into military service. But it was a rare gladiator indeed who could survive multiple fights.

Shortly after the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Count Dooku ventured to Rattatak to find a worthy warrior to draft into the service of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Recognizing this as an opportunity to leave Rattatak and possibly exact vengeance on the Jedi Knights, the powerful Asajj Ventress entered the fray and emerged victorious.”

—  The Old Databank Entry for the planet.

The third source that we will look into is from Republic issues 60 mostly from the character of Osika Kirske  in case you don’t know he is the guy who hired The Weequay raiders to kill Ky Narec  in the first place we noticed through the audio drama, Dooku Jedi lost by Cavan Scott funny enough

At the end of 2011, (the year that the affirmation clone wars episode aired.)  there was a  short story from James Luceno entitled “Restraint” where it feature Kirske in a primary capacity and connecting him to the Siniteen and Weequay raiders in the show. The story also connected Kirske to the Cauldron arena from the 2D series, revealing not only he is the one who own the arena but also he wanted to kidnap Dathomiri and force them to fight in it.

Anyway here is what Kirske says about himself to Kenobi in the Republic issue 60

''My Name is Osika Kirske I was once the ruler of more than half this planet. Rattatak is a world of warriors and soldiers for eons we have battled one another for the right to rule we knew nothing of the outside galaxy or your Republic but still found new and inventive ways to kill one another. All my life I had only known victory in war I coqnuered many cities and killed many of my rivals.'' here what he also says next ''They became something our world had never known . . . they became heroes.'' and finally he says this info ''We heard stories for the girl using strange powers she could move things with her mind and control the thoughts of her enemies it was said. So I convinced the other warlords and generals to join forces at least long enough to Kill Ventress and her master. We completed only half of our plan.”

– Republic issue 60

The reason for all of this info and this post in general is because I was planning on writing a fan fiction of Ventress backstory ( think of the Grievous backstory fan fiction Sahuldeem by Inonibird from tumblr but with Arcane level of emotion and sadness.) and I think Rattatak should be expanded more than what the 3 primary sources give us which is still excellent sources of lore on the planet. I also wanted to expand and created new lore for the history of the planet  pre-Ventress since I always been a big history buff in general.

Did Grievous Carry Out A Coup After Count Dooku’s death at The Battle of Coruscant?

So I was watching a video on YouTube by a channel called sci-fi deep dive  (which is a great channel in general so I highly recommend checking out the video https://youtu.be/0-3dYnjQg6g) and it really brought an interesting topic that I didn’t consider before which is  the Aftermath of Dooku’s death for the CIS and Grievous carrying out a coup because from a technical and legal standpoint, you can absolutely argue it was an unconstitutional military coup, even if it lacked the typical dramatic flair of a rebellion.

Because something tells me that If the public leaders on Raxus had ever found out what happened in those few hours after Dooku’s death, the entire Separatist government would have legally collapsed right then and there.  Plus, I like to think that there must have been a lot of confusion for them when it comes to word of Dooku’s death they probably would call it republic propaganda before realizing that hey maybe Dooku is really dead. For context while the Republic had the Holonet. The CIS had the Shadowfeed which was a confederacy of independent systems sponsored unauthorized Holofeeds and propaganda program broadcast throughout the Galaxy during the clone wars.

Not to mention, you also have the distance between Utapau and Raxus Secundus that might’ve played a role here when it comes Grievous taking over as the head of state of the separatists.

Or maybe  it was more along the lines of "Emergency Powers". Heads of state often have a set of abilities that can only be called upon in certain emergency situations. Grievous is probably the designated emergency leader of the CIS, running things until the Separatist Senate can elect a new Speaker (or whatever Dooku's official title was). This would explain why the Council makes no real contest of his leadership  - had the war gone on a few more days or weeks, the Senate would have convened, Grievous would have stepped down, and a new Speaker put in place.

Which actually also explains SIdious' decision to dispose of the Council so abruptly. He doesn't want there to be a new speaker, one not under his thumb.

Granted, I highly doubt Lucas was thinking about the Separatist parliament at the time of revenge of the Sith because they were created for the clone wars, but still, it is kind of an interesting retrospective continuity that I could see canon wanting to clarified it mostly through the separatist parliament perspective and how they reacted  of the events of Revenge of the Sith itself say from a certain point of view book for revenge of the Sith film?

But overall, what do you think of this thought experiment? Let me know in the comments below also let me know. What do you think of the video from sci-fi deep dive do you agree or disagree with his theory?

If Lucasfilm is ready to do the Pre-Republic and the Old Republic movies say you are hired as the main architect for these films and then you do an outline the timeline and the history of the time period from the earliest point in the timeline to Darth Bane’s death?

how much would you would take from Lucas ideas mostly in the Phantom Menace novelization and The Star Wars Archives for the prequel trilogy 1999-2005 as well as the Phantom Menace oral history from starwars.com where in his mind the Sith operated as medieval feudal European kingdoms during their rule of the galaxy, which sounds so awesome compared to the legends version where they are basically An Galactic Empire 2.0 carbon copy, especially in the MMO old republic game.

that said, despite using Lucas’s ideas for this internal bible for the old republic films there would be elements of the EU such as the whole Jedi and Sith having Wars in the galaxy just not as much or small scaled because that the legends version kind of have it out too much turning them into redundant and making Palpatine’s rise of power, not as a big deal when it’s just Tuesday for the galaxy.

here’s an example while the whole Rogue Jedi and his followers being casted out by the Jedi Council is from the Phantom Menace novelization. But in the aftermath, they launch a conflict turning a once nonviolent great schism albeit being more philosophical debate into a full scale conflict that last for 100 years before being defeated and exiled to Space by the Jedi out of mercy before arriving on Korriban or Moraband and they take the name Sith and thus the order is born. How old that is from the EU but instead of having four great schism, we just have one great schism.

But besides that, how would you fit with the Zygerrian Slave Empire history and their defeated by the Jedi in the story (would you have it during this era or a bit the Sith empire was destroyed and once the Republic is established and slavery it outlawed that when the Jedi strike the Zygerrians.) same with the Mandaloroan Wars (outside of Tarre Vizsla and the Darksaber storyline this conflict would likely be the same as the EU version it’s just the final defeat would be at Mandalore resulting the planet to become a wasteland as we see in the clone wars maybe getting to see how Clan Kryze rise to power.) As well as The Rakata (who are mentioned as the Rakata Invaders in Andor and despite the fact Lucas likely intend the republic to be founded after the Sith downfall Andor is such a great show so why not incorporate them? But then again he sort of written himself in a corner with Kenobi line in a new hope saying the whole for 1000 generations the Jedi Knights were guardians of peace and Justice in the old republic which implies that the republic was founded 25,000 years ago but as we see, it is much shorter than 1000 years ago, so how can we make sense of Kenobi line beyond the out of universe reason Heck the fact that Coruscant was conquered and have a Sith Shrine in the unplanned clone wars episode, which eventually makes it way in Canon through the Tarkin novel likely when the Sith were ruling the galaxy long before the republic was founded.) and Xim the Despot (now this one’s easy, considering the fact that Xim story is very isolated from the main storyline given his story take place in a small region of space despite taking place between The Rakata downfall and the founding of the Republic.)

But besides that I‘m just curious on Darth Bane story and how the Jedi find out the Rule of two especially Bane origins would he be still a ore miner like he was in the trilogy or maybe his background is different but regardless, I think we could all agree that aesthetic wise. The clothes and technology. should be very ancient trying to stand out from the other eras kinda like how the Prequel Trilogy and the Original Trilogy have very different aesthetics in both trilogies?

but what do you all think? Let me know in the comments below on how would you outline your own history and timeline of the Galaxy‘s Ancient History before ended with Bane establishing the Rule of Two?

Something that never really occurred to me about Grievous sending the Separatist council to Mustafar scene until now!

Now Grievous telling the separatist council that Mustafar it is a volcanic planet the outer room where you would be all safe there. obviously for the audience watching revenge of the Sith at the time in 2005 this is the first time we get to see Mustafar so it makes a lot of sense because it is meant for the audience getting to know what is Mustafar before we see it later. It acts as a hidden bunker where Sidious can gather his loose ends (the Council) into one geographic basket for Anakin to eliminate.

Basically The film strongly implies that this is first time that the separatist council hear and learn what Mustafar before the Council is being sent to a remote hiding spot they wouldn't normally frequent, keeping them isolated from the republic.

despite well it is already been an established outer rim planet as shown in the clone wars show where it was used as the place where Cad Bane kidnapped force sensitive, infants and later the headquarters for Black Sun.

not to mention in the lore, Mustafar was owned by the Techno Union for more than 300 years before 19 BBY. so it’s kind of hilarious to imagine from the perspective of Wat Tambor (who is a member of the council.) When Grieovus explains to the council about Mustafar. Wat Tambor is probably thinking “general I already know what Mustafar is because I own the damn planet so I don’t need a briefing on what it is.” essentially Wat Tambor knows what Mustafar is given well, he is the foreman of the techno union so he has to know which planet the Techno Union currently has?

but yeah, I do wonder if the film itself implies that Mustafar was an undiscovered planet until Darth Sidious tells Grievous about it and brought the coordinates to it leading to the separate meeting that we see. If so, do you think it was a mistake that The Lore went with the idea that Black Sun had their HQ on the planet as well as the planet itself being owned by the Techno Union for 300 years before the clone wars ended or it makes a lot of sense for the latter?

otherwise, what do you all think leave? Let me know in the comments below. Do you think that Mustafar should’ve been a undiscovered planet mostly known only for the Sith until Sidious being the location up to Grievous or it makes sense to have the planet already discovered about 300 years ago despite what the film kind of implied sort of?

What title did Grievous really had on Kalee before he become a Cyborg?

so I was looking through the eyes of Revolution by Warren Fu from the Star Wars visionaries graphic novel from April 2, 2005 about a month before revenge of the Sith was released.

Just before he entered his shuttle Grievous bowed before a Kaleesh Holy Man where the latter says this.

"Our appeals have been ignored. It is now apparent that the Republic and the Jedi favor our enemies. General, you are our last hope against the Huk in this war. May the spirits of our ancestors watch over you and your troops."

―The Kaleesh holy man, to Grievous

First off I just wanna say what a powerful line written by Warren Fu and the fact that he was an artist for revenge of the Sith yet he was able to write something powerful but anyway, this quote got me thinking about something.

What specific title Grievous had on Kalee before he become a Cyborg?

Now, this quote from the comic clearly states that he is called “General“ by his respective holy man make it it seem as if he already held the title of General even on Kalee. That’s said I seen other sources that were release way after this comic that have his title to be actually “Khagan” or even ”Khan.”

otherwise what do you think Grievous title when he was a Kaleesh Was he called a warlord or his title is always General or his title is actually Khagan or maybe even Khan and what do you guys prefer.

Assuming if his title was Khagan I wondered what the title really means because I’m not too familiar with it beyond the fact that it’s from Mongolia word like what is the real world definition of the name and how does it relates to Kalee (obviously sometimes real world terminology has different meanings in Star Wars, but still.) same with Khan Like how does the whole Kaleesh hierarchy work in terms of before during and after the Huk War.

Also, does that mean that before he drove the Huks off Kalee did he started out as a Khan before becoming Khagan or he originally started as a chieftain before gaining the title of Khan and then later Khagan?

I also wonder how do the 8th khans (Izvoshra) become khans in the first place given their different backgrounds as outline in the Lord of war supplement for the Star Wars insider, 86 unknown soldier, the story of General Grievous were they appointed by Grievous himself, or they got the title of Khan through hereditary means basically inheriting the title of Khan from a relative whatever it is a father or an uncle?

otherwise, where did the eight khans get their own respective armies that would later go on to unite into a unifying centralized force in the form of the Kolkpravis led by Grievous himself. Assuming if they weren’t born to inherit the title of Khan?
