Scared to start with all the reported sides in this sub

I have my 1.5mg prescription but I’ve read more bad than good about LDN and now scared to start it. Also, it seems that this med only has a temporary effect, no actual healing? I’m still learning. Please help convince me that I should take LDN or something else.

My issues are long COVID related vascular issues causing vascular headaches, PEM, CFS, POTS, stomach and upper respiratory issues. I’ve most addressed my IBS with klow peptides. Vitamin d helped a lot with my upper respiratory issues. Still trying to address the migraines, POTS, PEM, CFS. I am extremely tired each day without doing anything. Even after getting 7-8 hours of sleep l can wake up and go right back to sleep after dropping my son off at school.

What I’ve started recently: fibrinolytic peptides and beet root supplements because I read it might help. Still trying to figure out a solution to this. I also had a positive ana 1:80 and ssa but not enough to be referred to rheumatologist.

I already have poor sleep from being perimenopause that I’m addressing with magnesium glycinate and ashwaghanda. I’m not willing to sacrifice sleep issues with any meds.

Any suggestions what I should do and if to proceed with LDN or will the fibrinolytic enzymes and beet root supplements work just as well. Thanks

Fibrinolytic Enzymes like Natto and Lumbro for improved blood flow, removing fibrins and microclots

My symptoms: upper respiratory cough and post nasal drip, migraines, malaise, brain fog, extreme tiredness, POTS, stomach issues. It all started after contracting Covid several times. I’m suspecting I have long covid issues based on symptoms of others. It also triggered some abnormal antibodies (autoimmune related).

What I’ve learned is that COVID is a vascular disease and many of these long covid symptoms can be a result of microclots that occur from covid that stick around for years.

Fibrinolytic enzymes dissolve microclots, mitochondrial fibrins and improves blood flow to address the vascular issues.

There is something called a Herx effect which is no joke! I’ve never taken a supplement that has this purge. It happens when the enzymes kills off the fibrin buildup and releases them. Once all the bad stuff comes out it gets better but I took it for two days so far and I couldn’t take it. Headaches, fatigue, chest pressure from acid reflux. Day three I stopped the enzymes and feel better than baseline. More energy and focus. I couldn’t push through the Herx effect so I’m going to get something with a lower dose and start again.

These enzymes are powerful and have the most effect than any supplement I’ve ever taken. The Herx just means I have a lot of fibrin to breakdown and continue using later and titrate up slowly. I’m hoping all these long covid, autoimmune issues get better with continued use. The enzymes help many other issues other than long covid.

Does anyone have experience with these enzymes? Did you get a Herx effect? If you had a functional doctor prescribe it, what was the protocol.

Question for Americans who are mixed European

How do you respond to the question, what is your ethnicity/ancestry when your family has been in US since its inception and has no ties to Europe? My white side is composed of many European countries but I know some people will respond to the question, I’m Italian, I’m Irish etc when most of us are not primarily one thing.

Follow up to those who respond American: I’m also mixed with non-white but multiple generations born and raised American. It would be nice to just say American for all of those born and raised regardless of ethnicity especially when many generations are American (non-white). People always ask me my ethnicity since I’m mixed but my nationality is American and generations before me even though not completely white American so it would be weird to not say American for all. Or what so other people who are mixed say?

Rehoming juvenile goldfish

My son received a common goldfish at a kids bday party even though I didn’t want him to take it home (he insisted).

After researching, it will require too big of a tank to keep it. I want to swap it for a smaller fish (when an adult) that doesn’t require such a big tank.

Do fish stores typically take them? Or are there fish pond rescues for goldfish. I feel bad but want the fish to have a happy home.

BPC 157 approved by FDA today to add as a compounded substance

More to be voted on tomorrow. I’m glad people will be able to benefit from BPC 157. The Wolverine stack thawed out my frozen shoulder and it made me a strong believer in peptides. Western medicine only offered cortisone shots and surgery if it remained frozen.

Edit: recommended for approval by the FDA advisory which is the first step and an important one

Good recipe for electrolytes

I’m tired of buying the expensive packets of liquid IV electrolytes. Please share recipes to make them myself. Something that tastes decent. Thank you 🙏

What are we doing about loose skin

I’ve lost 20 pounds and now in the healthy weight category. I have some loose skin mainly under my arms and my legs look untoned with the wrinkles above my knees. That also has to do with aging skin but now looks worse with the loose skin.

What are the remedies to address this loose skin and untoned look? Do we focus on building more muscle? Any topical solutions that would help? Or any other peptides that would help? I’m taking klow already and live a pretty sedentary lifestyle on most days.

Protein and Fiber

Help! I recently started tracking macros on and I don’t even come close to getting 35% protein. I hardly exercise. What macro percentages should I be shooting for? Also, how much fiber should we be getting per day? I may need to supplement on my daily deficits. Any foods or supplements you take to improve your diet?

PSA for perimenopausal and menopausal women on GLPs

I recently bouted a horrendous frozen shoulder for almost a year. I don’t wish it on anyone! Debilitating. It’s often caused by a decrease in estrogen. I had also lost weight like many of us. Apparently, as we approach menopause, most of our estrogen is stored in our fat cells and since we lose a lot of fat our estrogen decreases even more. I’m now on an estrogen patch to increase estrogen. Thought I’d share to get hormones checked with a doc.

Autism and gastro issues

My 8 year old son has always had constant gas and frequent bowel movements (semi loose but not diarrhea). I’m learning about the gut brain axis and its relation to autism.

We did the hydrogen test and it was normal.

Stool tests, ph fecal was high. All other tests normal.

Doc recommended a scope for further testing.

Any of your asd kiddos have gastro issues and what was the cause and remedy? Any other testing we should request? I even see fecal transplants having success and reducing autism behaviors.

Weight gain and bloating

I started taking supplements to offset any deficits after not eating a well balanced diet on Reta. I have since gained weight and bloated.

Has anyone experienced this? I’m not sure if it’s related to the supplements or reaching a plateau at 1mg per week for four months.

Supplements added - d3, magnesium glycinate, super b complex, ashwagandha

Glorious Sleep 🙌

I was taking magnesium glycinate at night to stay asleep to no avail and just added 600 mg ashwagandha gummies (youth theory) recently and I sleep like a baby. No more waking up at 3am. I wake up refreshed at 8am since I’ve combined MG and ashwagandha.

Not sure if this is the secret formula but it worked for me so I thought I’d share! My problem was not falling asleep but staying asleep. I researched that ashwagandha helps with cortisol, thyroid and hormones. Sounds like typical things we have to deal with.

Favorite peptides for perimenopausal women and why

Please give me your faves and what you experienced on them.

Note: I tested my hormones recently and may be eligible to get HRT but if it’s not necessary on any specific peptides, please share.

Here are some of my experiences:

MOTS-C - got it for energy but notice no difference. Will taking SS-31 really make a difference or is there something better.

Reta - 1mg micro dosing for 3 months. Best results for me from any peptide. Only downside is I am more subdued and less sociable at times but maybe that’s a good thing. I have ADD. I might taper off or dose only every other week since I’ve reached goal weight.

KLOW - thawed out my frozen shoulder in a couple weeks, healed my gut and skin and hair look great. I will always keep this one in the rotation. Love, love, love

NMN - I take this sublingually as a pathway to NAD+ instead of NAD+ subq directly. I started with this before anything else and it makes me more mentally alert but not energetic.

Melanotan 2- I love this one. I only use one small vial a year in the spring/summer. I get the perfect tan that lasts all year with just a few times out in the sun. I do feel more energy on this also. I know this is more cosmetic but I love feeling the sun on my skin and having a sun kissed glow. I don’t stay out long once tan is achieved. Also, I don’t burn so maybe it provides better protection with the added melanin?

I’ve been on Reta for two months. I have a short attention span and can be impulsive and high energy without Reta but I manage with adderall when needed. Reta makes me feel tired, unbothered and no desire to socialize or do anything really. I don’t feel like myself. I’ve tried MOTS-C, NAD+ to no avail. I don’t take adderall since I no longer have the symptoms and when I have taken it, it doesn’t do anything so I stopped.

Anyone with ADD/ADHD with these reta side effects? If so, what have you done to offset this? I want to continue on Reta but the lack of energy and apathy makes me want to get off it soon to feel myself again. Even my spouse noticed…I’m watching Lakers games without a peep. I’m usually loud and obnoxious 😝

Has anyone experienced dryness or pain down there? If so, how did you get relief? I drink lots of water and electrolytes. I’m in my 40s so likely perimenopausal but trying to see if there is a link with this and Reta since I haven’t experienced this before.
