Summer is over and I’m bummed 😅. We had a great summer enjoying the weather and Rowen loved learning all about the plants, snakes, and bugs, and even found a baby ring neck snake which she was so proud and excited about.
She started kindergarten a few weeks ago and she’s been thriving. She loves her class, school, teacher, and is learning so much so quickly.
We are lucky to live close to school so we walk every morning. It’s nice time we get together and we really enjoy it! It’s been in the 50s the last few mornings so I think it’s time i stop denying the inevitable cold that’s to come 🥶
She outgrew her coat and mittens so put them on her list.

I wouldn’t call it a “hack” but as gas continues to soar, it’s helping pinch a few spare pennies so i wanted to share what I’ve been doing lately.
Upside, obviously, for cashback on gas, but I’ve also been using my PayPal to pay for gas. I have a PayPal debit card and each month you can choose a category for cash back. Things like fuel, restaurants, groceries, clothing. I choose fuel every month and it helps a tiny bit to cut back on cost. I can usually count on 10 ish cents back per gallon with upside and lately each tank of gas has gotten me a little under $5 for cash back on PayPal. It’s not much but for a small amount of effort it’s worth it.
Thinking about taking my AC out today but I’m afraid this is fools’ autumn and I’m going to be mad at myself in 2 weeks when it’s 85 again
I posted a few days ago asking for ideas on how to send my Molly girl to rest. Thank you all for the wonderful support and advice. I took Wednesday off from work and we had a “yes day”. We went to my friend’s pet store where she was spoiled with treats, we drove around the lake, she went swimming, she had a McDonald’s hamburger, and we went and visited her groomer one last time.
Molly was put to rest yesterday afternoon and I’m so grateful I was able to let her go with dignity and respect. We loved her for 1,064 beautiful days. She was 11 years old.
Rest in Peace Molly Girl.
My Molly girl is sick. She has a nasal sarcoma that has grown to include the area all around her left eye. She’s so tired and I can tell she’s exhausted and in pain and it’s time. I just booked the appointment for Friday afternoon.
With my last dog, everything happened so quickly I didn’t have time to think.
I want to give Molly the best send off I can possibly give her.
What are some things I should do with and for her between now and Friday? I texted her groomer so we can go say goodbye to her. She is who brought Molly into my life 3 years ago so she deserves to say goodbye. I’m going to cook her a steak tonight and take her on a long car ride. I would love any other ideas. I just want her to have a good week.

I’m a 32 year old woman. I had my first colonoscopy in March after several months of unexplained pain. They found h pylori and a 1cm polyp during my scope. I was treated for the h pylori and the polyp came back as precancerous.
I keep thinking about what that polyp could have turned into had I waited til the recommended age of 45 for a colonoscopy. The idea of having that developing for the next 13 years is terrifying.
It’s very possible I could have developed colon cancer from that polyp. I’m a single mother and the thought of that is so scary. My daughter would have had no one.
Why hasn’t the recommended age changed yet? We’re seeing more and more young people die from this disease and yet the recommendations haven’t changed to reflect that.

School here starts in just under a month and that is blowing my mind. We’ve had a really nice summer swimming at the state park, collecting all sorts of leaves, sticks, flowers, and rocks. We’ve caught and released dozens of bugs and have read every snake book at the library.
Rowen is so excited for kindergarten, she asks almost every morning if we okay is the day she gets to go to her “new school.”
I can’t believe my tiny little baby is somehow going to be a kindergartener.
She’s outgrown her sneakers so i added a pair of sneakers, some socks, a school shirt, and some hair ties.

5 year old mixed breed female dog, spayed, otherwise healthy, about 40-50 pounds, VT/NH USA
Friend’s dog tore her ACL in November 2025 after going missing for a couple days. Vet at the time said watching and waiting was ok to see if she healed on her own.
She took her to the vet yesterday and the injury is now a total rupture of the ACL and meniscus.
Vet offered a few options: brace, plasma treatment, stem cell treatment, or surgery.
She is leaning towards stem cell treatment. This is about 3500 and surgery is 6-8 thousand. Everything I’ve read online says stem cell treatment hasn’t yet proven successful in treatment of complete rupture.
Is there evidence stem cell treatment would be effective? 3500 is a lot of money if she’s going to have to end up paying for surgery in the future anyway.
Any advice is appreciated. The dog has been in pain for months and deserves relief.

My 5 year old’s other genetic component has chosen to not be in her life since before she was born. He’s not a safe person so there is unlikely to be a relationship between them.
She is now starting to notice differences in her family compared to those of her friends’ and classmates’ families.
I’m hoping to get some ideas on books that best explain this, I’m struggling to know how to explain this to her in an honest but appropriate way.
