Teech (1991)

Teech (1991)

Started streaming this show today. This show is obscure because,

  1. It only had 13 episodes produced.
  2. Outside of the episodes themselves, there is nothing more about it on YouTube.
  3. I have never heard about this show until recently.

This show is about a music teacher named Teech who comes from a lower-class school who gets a job at a prestigious all male college. "Teech me everything you know."

Remember when shows taught life lessons and morals and was still entertaining and made you laugh?

Wolfstone - Brave Foot Soldiers

Board, how about some Wolfstone "Brave Foot Soldiers". When I first discovered this song, I was going through some hard and deep shit in my life. There are no words that describe how much this song means to me on an emotional level.

Board, how about some Strawberry Switchblade "Let Her Go". I wish I knew about this crazy band years ago. My music life is now more chaotic.

Brutal Half-Life (part 2)

More screenshots from my playthrough of Brutal Half-Life bonus maps. Please read part 1 for more info.

Quake 2 - After playing Q2 a while ago I realized that I don't really like its level design. I think that they are too boxy and the enemies are too tanky and bullet spongey. What they lack in level design they make up in their sound design and ambiance something that is lacking in these levels.

  • Q2M1: Outer Base - Just a small taste of what to expect in the Q2 pack. There was nothing overly difficult about this level.
  • Q2M2: Installation - Hardest parts were getting sniped from the upper catwalks and possibly not having enough ammo carried over from the previous level. I also got a grunt stuck in the exit door of the final switch room. I had to use noclip to finish the level.
  • Q2M3: Comm Center - Hardest part was getting an RPG to the face when entering the satellite dish room. Because you are wearing an HEV suit you can enter the toxic pool pit early.

Duke Nukem 3D - Personally I've never really liked Duke Nukem's level design but that's just my opinion.

  • DNM1: Hollywood Holocaust - Perhaps the best level of the three. Hardest parts were having to fall down the ventilation shaft and getting instantly attacked by 2 Vortigaunts without having any cover. This level pulls some unfair cheap shots at the player. Also, why does breaking the glass cause damage to the player?
  • DNM2: Red Light District - Hardest parts were staying on the open road instead of heading up to the second story where you can snipe the enemies instead and approaching the strip club. This is the level where you first realize that the enemies bullet fire can do fire damage which drains the players health over time.
  • DNM3: Death Row - This level is so unfair. First, it takes away your weapons at the beginning, then it gives you an RPG to the face once you enter the blue key room and finally it spawns trip wires and enemies after retrieving the yellow key. I died many times because of the previously mentioned fire damage.

Blood - Honestly, most blood levels are not that good. This is because of the limitations of the engine. Despite that they make up for it with good gameplay and inventive and creative level design. Out of all the levels pictured I liked the blood levels the most.

  • B1M1: Cradle to Grave - Perhaps the most atmospheric level in the pack. There were no overly hard parts. They are missing some secrets that were in the original though.
  • B1M2: Wrong Side of the Tracks - Perhaps the hardest level in this pack. There was no single part that was overly difficult because the combat was pretty even throughout. It did take me a while to get used to the change in dynamite throwing behavior.
  • B1M3: Phantom Express - Perhaps a fan favorite from the Blood community. There was nothing difficulty about this level. I like how the train engine got an upgrade in this version. Best way to end this Brutal Half-Life playthrough.

Brickshelf Now Fully Functional

Brickshelf is one of the oldest and largest Lego file sharing and archiving site. Users were able to upload pictures, drawings, stories, avatars and instructions. There was also a very small portion of non-Lego content on the site, but every user uploaded content was completely safe for work. Its legacy outlived other sites like mocpages. Many pages from mocpages are lost in time and cannot be viewed even using the wayback machine at archive.org.

For over a decade the site was locked to new users. Older users were grandfathered in so they could still create new folders and upload new pictures. Then a few years ago the creator Kevin Loch passed away making the future of Brickshelf in limbo. Then over a year ago a group called The Wall of History acquired the site and brought it back.

After I suggested that they remove all provocative ads they chose to remove ads all together which was the better choice. This month they announced that the site is now completely functional again. This includes creating new accounts. If anyone has ever had the dream of arching their Lego creations at a more permanent site here is your chance. When other sites come and go, I hope that Brickshelf will continue to live on.

Final screenshots from my playthrough of Insecure. This was a good journey with some memorable moments.

+ Pluses

  1. Some of the best Xen that I've ever seen.
  2. Some nice Xen moments and atmosphere.
  3. Healing pools don't take forever to heal.
  4. There was a decent ending.

If MPS. does release this on Steam here are some more ideas for achievements.

  1. Beat the Black Ops
  2. Make it to Xen
  3. Beat the Boss
  4. Finish the Game

Screenshots from the second half of Thrill EX. Surprisingly the later levels would eventually be reworked and turned into the Uplink official addon. Here are a few more negatives that I did not include in part 1.

- Negatives

  1. Some of the later levels could have been reworked and included into the final HL release.
  2. The level in upper right could have been reworked into a deathmatch level.
  3. The game just ends in an unfinished room, without any cutscene nor end screen. The ending is so anti-climactic.

Kylie Minogue came up in my YouTube feed today. This made me remember watching a live performance on a random TV show back in the early 2000s. At the beginning of the song, she quoted the lyrics "how does it feel?" or something like that before proceeding into her actual song. I think the song was "Can't Get You Out of My Head" or something like that but I don't remember for sure. Please help me find this performance, thank you.
