tips for reserving space for later?

tips for reserving space for later?

Rule 5: my humble Aquilo beginnings. Notice how the beacons are placed. I cut the electricity since they demand too much energy right now

For context, i am on Aquilo and work on a setup for my basic production (electricity and ice platforms). I build some cryochambers and wanted to buff them with beacons, especially speed and energy, since i need to make the process of getting the energy efficient. However, low quality beacons are sort of a scam in that regard since they passively consume so much energy.
But since Legendary quality is just a few science points away, I definitely wanna reserve the space for later, and i wonder how to do that. Spontaneously i would actually put some legendary beacon blueprint ghosts down since they arent available to my system anyway and even if they get placed later, they dont consume much energy.

What do you think? Good idea, bad one, do you have a better one?

Guess who was the player with 25 greeneries production at the end of the game and by which player he got pissed off.

Got a nasty combo of recyclon + extrem cold mushroom (or fungus?) and still ended up last place.

Over indexed very hard tbh, but gosh this land grabber cooperation is such a pain.

Should have bought more cities with the standard project too, may have helped a bit to score points.

Made a Landfill train on gleba and realised that the math behind it is totally bananas

So, for context, i am expanding and Gleba is watery. So i need landfill, but my stone sources run out of it soon, so accessed a new one.

Down there I quickly did the math.

My train has 4 wagons, and each of them has 40 item slots. One slot gets filled with 100 Landfill.

1 landfill is equal to 50 stone.

That means that to make one tour with a full train you need 4 * 40 * 100 * 50 = 800k Stone.
The sources that are down there dont even have 200k

Not even my 33 Miner productivity upgrades can make up for that

What the heck.

I NEED MORE STONE!!!!!!!!!!

Biochambers are sorta insane in terms of sheer throughput per building

Rule 5: This is my new Bioflux setup i am working on, and it managed to produce a tiny bit more than a full belt worth of bio flux under full input. This feels sorta insane.

The Quality is the same as what i currently have access to in my run: Rare bio chamber and beacon as well as uncommon tier 2 speed.

What suprises me again and again is how compact you can build factories nowadays, especially on Gleba where it feels like belt throughput is the bigger bottleneck than anything else at times. makes it almost seem worthless to build main busses tbh. Just make one of these babies and fill one other part of your factory with it.

I honestly dont wanna know how broken the legendaries gonna be. Making a 6/5/2 ratio as intended was already hell because you barely have room to place beacons, and you need more and better grabbers to be fast enough for the machines. That's genuilly the problem I struggle with the most right now.

Strategies to avoid spoilage?

I am thinking about how to make my gleba factories less fragile before I go to gleba because the most tiring thing of that planet is constantly fixing it's breakdowns.

My current thoughts are all about only producing on demand, but that became very combinator heavy in my proto types and I wonder if there is an easier way to do it. Especially mash, cubes and nutrients are a huge pain and anything that's in any way on belts feels very fragile because I am not able to sort out spoilage on every place.

Please explain to this disturbed European why LA looks the way it looks.

For context, I looked with Google maps at La.

I am living in Germany, and usually I am used to be able to find a forest when going out of a city.

But LA is nothing but City! There are houses god dam everywhere with no forest in sight and just some small parks here and there.

I am genuinely a bit disturbed, this looks insanely depressing.

I have no knowledge of how building laws work, but I heared a lot of the yimby discourse about something called "Zoning", and somehow I assume that this has something to do with that most of the houses seem to be designed for just one family.

Please explain it to me

Played a lot the Steam version now and I find it odd how underpowered Terraforming actually is compared to other Strategies.

NGL I actually have a lot to talk about this game, but it would likely be too much to pack into one Post. One thing that I realised very soon, however, is that terraforming the mars is actually not that good of a strategy if you wanna win a round of Terraforming Mars. (In multiplayer, single its of course not optional.)

To explain what I mean, I wanna showcase of how a typical game looks in my eyes.

Usually the first priority i have in every game is setting up a colony on the best economy colony, which are Ceres, Luna, Triton and Pluto in that order (They deserve their own post) to boost income. Especially Money is critical early so i can afford more cards to buy and can get more cards out.
Against the AI i sometimes go for Ganymede, but thats only because the Ai loves it to fly there and sometimes just isnt anything else.

Every card i play early is played with the intention of boosting income and the playability of my hand. Money, steel, Titan, what have you. Energy is also important early to be able to fly consistently to the colonies without investing money. Every card that brings heat or plants is just not on my list at all because they are bringing the payoff way too late to snowball.

Over the course of the game, i try to accumulate as many cards as i can, especially in the science department, because they unlock some of the best cards in the game. Also, many of the cards i play also add Victory points, and those victory points are the reason why in some games you might as well just ignore terraforming. Because there are quite a few that boost income right now while also giving you VP. Earth and space elevator for example. Those cards add up over the course of a game, and you can just dump all of them later onto the table.

As the game goes on, you will inevitably find at least one card that gives you income boosts based on tags or some other thing like cities, and those cards can range from very nice to absolutely bonkers. Looking at you, Cartel. Those cards will pay for themselves very quickly if played at the right moment, and many of them are easily boostable with your own actions.

Also you will find at least one card that allows you to draw multiple cards, with the biggest offender being AI-Centrale, Which gives you 2 cards per turn. Granted, it requires science tags, but many science cards are pretty good anyway and you love collecting them. Besides that, there is more than one way to get those, and they just do their job way too well.

You noticed that I basically didnt talk about the planet at all, and thats because you just dont need it. There is basically no reason for you to rush Terraforming because the bonuses you get from that are just underpowered. The money is nice, but you always get it more efficiently from money income boosters instead of terraforming. Cards with conditions are ironically often also those that would like to be as long in the game as possible, which hurts especially the Animals with a few exeptions. Trees take too much investment early away for you to care. At the end of the day, Its just better to spam cards. And its basically also just not really viable to end the game early, because that often requires others to terraform as well, which means that the only counterplay to not terraforming the planet and focusing on VP is doing the same thing yourself.

In the late game you might have accumulated over 100 Money per turn with Iron and Titan included. That allows you to just spam cards with immediate impact onto VP and suddently pull a win out of your ass. Maybe you got even some cost reduction to spam even harder. The game becomes now a mindless dump of all the cards you have in your hand now. Especially the jupiter cards are frankly nuts, because there 3 of them that give you VP based on that Tag. Granted, the cards also cost all also an arm and a half to play, but they are good.

Arriving at the victory screen, you noticed that half of your points came just from the cards you played. Not from your Terraforming score or your cities and trees, but cards. The power of those is so high that you wonder why you even bother with conquering the map to begin with. Why sacrifice income for board presence when its just inconsequental?

Granted, this is of course skewed towards longer games, but as i pointed out, rushing the enemy like mono red aggro in MTG is just not a thing here. It simply costs too much to do it on your own, and you rely on the enemies playing the same strategy, which defeats the purpose of rushing because you cant stop scaling with out enemies consent.

Dont get me wrong, i enjoy scaling myself, but there has to be a clear tradeoff here. In my eyes, it should come at the cost of board presence and loosing access to resources you would have gotten if you terraformed more agressively early. But currently, this just isnt worth it at all unless you play something like Tharsis republic. And I find this robs the game of some nuance which I miss here.

I feel like i still dont get when exactly dropkick procs, is it really ONLY with auto attacks or also with only a selection of other things?

Am I underrating microbes?

Microbes feel very odd to play in this game. They are the kind of card you should want to play early, but usually I neglect them completely in favor of cards that give me early economy boosts, especially in money, because those are just more important than the victory points you get from them.

And in the mid to late game they usually just don't do very much to justify picking them. I loved to play them at first but now with more experience, I just feel like they are very underwhelming.

Am I underrating them?

I want to learn how to draw but I am afraid I will give it up again like so many other hobbies.

I am training since around end of may and got some equipment from my aunt for digital art. But I fear that this will be once again one of those hobbies I give up again because I cannot obsess hard enough to the point where it feels more like a chore than anything else.

But I really would love to be able to draw. I like manifesting my thoughts onto paper. Or digital data in my case. But do you know how hard it is to draw a straight line? Yet alone a curve?

I am procrastinating so hard on those drawabox tasks.

I am lucky that I have a great community that helps me with my self esteem but I am not sure if it is enough.

Tips for an beginners workflow for drawing faces? (Or anything, actually)

Ok, so, I currently try to draw the same face of my fursona I already drew as traditional Art, and... Idk, I feel like I am not doing this as systematically as I could, which is my preferred way of doing things.

The thing is, usually I try to first do the rough shape my establishing geometrical shapes like circles and triangles and what not, and then proceed to make it more like the thing I actually wanna do. But for some reason I just don't translate that very well into digital art and I can't tell why.

Which is odd, because theoretically this has so much more powerful tools, but I feel like I struggle even with basic proportions. I feel all the time like I want a ruler and just basic points and what not to establish a base line easier.

Maybe I am just rambling here, but if you would draw the face I drew, how would you start doing that?

Can you utilize trigonemic functions to learn how to draw cubes?

Suppose you have a cube that's standing on a unit circle. You look from above onto the circle, so that you see the cube also from above. If you shift the cube along the circle, the seen length of the cube does not change, because the length of the lines is always equal.

Suppose now that you change the degree from which you're looking upon the circle. It looks now a bit squeezed, as seen in the second line. Now you see the y-line, marked in green. Now the lengths of the line change based on how the cube is shifted along the circle.

Is there something I found here or am I just delusional?

For context, I am trying to learn drawing and, as you can see, my cubes aren't exactly cube shaped.

(Link added of originalpost in math, because I need to show a picture to get my point across)

I needed longer to mentally prepare for going for a walk than the walk itself.

I have holidays right now and am sleeping at my grandma's house. Today I knew I needed to go the fuck out because I am just decaying mentally in front of my tv if I don't do it. I think I needed a hour and a half to two hours between this Realisation and the moment where I actually went out, and the walk itself took an hour. It was warm af, but I think it did something good for my mental.

Now excuse me, I need to jump into my pillows until I stop loafing myself.

How exactly does the fluoroketone recipe make sense?

As far as I know, fluoroketone are carbon hydrogens with oxygen double connections on the carbon chain as well as hydrogen atoms substituted with fluoride. However, the recipe doesn't contain a source of oxygen and lithium doesn't appear in the end result at all.

Edit: guys I am just curious in chemistry, not a "realism above all else" fanatic.

Tips for learning to hit skillshots (Laning phase specifically)?

Had a bad game, am slightly tilted. I was specifically unhappy with my laning phase where I just missed way too many skillshots when I wanted to trade (as Aurora).

The problem I have now is that I dont exactly know how to train that. Most champs I usually play (my beloved Asol got taken by the enemy) have either big Zones of Death (Maokai and Asol) or just arent very skillshot reliant in the typical sense (Maokai and Pantheon, as well as Lillia to an extend, who has a lot of coverage with her Q.

Now, I know some of the usual tricks, like trying to trade when the enemy wants to lasthit, but even then, I was so focused just on lasthitting and that that I couldnt focus on anything else anymore, and that hurt my performance to an extend. I want it to be more in my muscle memory, so to speak.

Speaking of muscle memory, I think i also should train lasthitting. I hated how many cannons I missed.

12 Min giga stomp on Maokai with Slow cooker, Icathia's Fall and Tank engine

One of the games where I wished it would have lasted *just* a bit longer. Delt more damage than I recived, and the moment I would have gotten warmogs it just would be *over*.

Granted, this was also a hilariously good matchup for me.

Edit: The both augments delt 17 and 12k damage respectively. In a 12 min game.
