NYC hotel - Priceline price vs booking direct - big difference!

I am comparing booking direct and using Priceline for a five night stay in Manhattan. Direct the hotel charges things like NY City and State taxes, and property fee and tax on the fee etc.. and a few other small things that add up to quite a bit. Priceline seems to just be charging the property fee and tax on it, no NY City and State. However, it could be built in? Priceline is pretty clear that total is the final total (I have to pay the property fee and tax when I show up). What's the catch?

Air Quality and South Lynn Peak hike today (Saturday)

Having a hard time deciding about hiking today (start around 9am) - I can see the air quality online but not sure how dangerous it is (or if it is better or worse in the valley/mountains). Any advice appreciated!

My large Vancouver home - NYC Homeswap in mid November?

We have a lovely large 4 bedroom home in Kitsilano, the best neighbourhood in Vancouver! Walkable to restaurants, beach etc.. We want to come to Manhattan (or very close) for about 5-6 nights somewhere between November 8-16 2026. Looking for at two bedrooms+ (it would be just the three of us, my partner and our teen daughter). If you are interested please pm. Thanks!

If a room starts with 2XX, I realize it is on the 'second floor', but in Pollock Halls is that actually the third level of the building? (ie is the ground floor 0XX?) Thanks!

Frankfurt airlines - short EES line for fast connections?

Edit: Frankfurt AIRPORT. HI all, nervous about a fast connection coming up and need to get EES done in Frankfurt before boarding Condor flight to Munich (the last condor munich flight of the day). I heard something about there may be a separate EES line 'under the escalators' for people with fast layovers, does anyone know if this is true? Any other tips or ideas of increasing my chances of getting my connection? Thank you!

Vancouver -> Frankfurt -> Munich, but only 1 hour 40 min connection and need EES - question

Hello all, flying from Vancouver to Frankfurt with a ~1 hour 40 minute layover (in theory), less after debarking large plane of course. I know it's risky and a short time to go through EES line but Condor booked the connecting flights under one ticket. Condor doesn't have any more flights to Munich that day if we miss the connection - what will happen? with Condor pay for us to get a Lufthansa flight (frequent), while our bags go before us on the booked Condor flight? Also, any hints or tips to try to get through the EES line quickly? I suppose they don't have a separate line for quick connecting flights do they...

Grandparents" for those of you who are able to and choose to offer to provide a little financial support to help out your grandchildren's lives (eg helping out with tuition or putting $ towards a school trip/musical lessons etc..) what motivates you?

Obviously a lot of grandparents choose not to, and that is their choice - but for those that have the ability to help out your grandchildren and do offer to help out, why do you do it? I am trying to understand what motivates you. Thanks in advance!

Feeling resentment that my financially-secure parents are not helping my kids (their grandkids) out financially at all, in any way.

I KNOW I shouldn't feel this way and they have the right to spend (or not spend) every dollar they have however they like, but I do. My 2 teen children have high school and activity expenses and their grandparents never help out in any way financially. My kids do very well and work hard. My parents can definitely afford to help with tuition or other activities. How do I get over this underlying resentment? I never ask for $, and never express how I feel, but I just can't help wondering why they don't seem to have any generosity around this, and know I would definitely help out my grandchildren and enjoy watching their successes and opportunities I can help provide. Thanks.

EDIT - wow seems like I have touched a nerve... interesting the defensive reactions.

Pretty specific question, but are there several entrances to the JMCC restaurant (for catered accommodations)? Is there a second entrance in the back of the building facing Turner? Also, is it on the first or second floor? Thanks

Will be staying there for the summer, any experiences on what to expect in general? Not a lot I could find online, not many photos. Thanks for any info!
