Opponents of a fire house closure, who are running for Ross Town Council, wonder if the removal of their campaign signs has [edit] anything to do with their position on the closure. The mayor supported the closure.

[Town Manager Christa] “Johnson, who helped implement the fire station’s closure plan, said at the meeting that Ross was enforcing its 65-year-old sign ordinance consistently. Other nonpolitical signs, including for a Marin Fashion Night, had been recently removed, according to a former Town Council member.”

[Mayor Julie] McMillan insisted that she did not order the removal of any sign, but defended the general policy. 

“We value our rural look,” she said. “We don’t want a bunch of junky signs. We don’t want to be like Novato.”

I currently run an Orbi RBR 760 mesh system with a "vintage-ish" Netgear modem (model C3000 cable modem-router) that maxes out at 300 Mbps. I am upgrading to a new modem to match the speeds I am paying Xfinity (1.3 Gbps). The new modem is a Netgear Nighthawk CM1200.

Question: Should I delete the Orbi app from my phone with the current installation and start fresh? Or when I power up the new modem / Orbi will the new hardware piggyback on the previous software?

Am I correct in assuming that I do not have to be concerned with the "bridge mode" and "AP mode" since the new device is only a modem?

We were conditionally approved in advance of a trip abroad. No interviews were available before our departure so we scheduled one a week after return. We were able to conduct the interviews upon entry from the trip and were approved (cards already received). I logged into my account to cancel the scheduled interviews but don't see the links mentioned in the FAQ about cancellation. Were they automatically canceled?

How can I find out the plane I took on an AF flight (was rebooked from UAL) from SFO to CDG 4 weeks ago? In looking at some previous and future flights it seems likely it was a 770-300. However: it is important to know the exact seat configuration (the AF website shows 5 different configs) as I am making a case to UAL that I did not get the seat upgrade I paid UAL for.

I do have my original AF boarding pass but see nothing to indicate exact equipment. The seat map that seems to most match my recollection of the seats is Boeing-777-300, 472 seats (J14 W28 Y430). Thanks.

EDIT: Turns out looking at the seat configurations that Air France has for that plane, all five of them, there are no seats with our assigned seat numbers that have anything but standard economy legroom.

We were passengers on flight 990 (SFO-CDG) on May 14th that was diverted to Calgary for pilot medical issue. Flight was ultimately canceled and we returned to SFO 12 hours later after a "tour" of the midwest to burn fuel.

We were rebooked on an Air France flight the next day. We had upgraded to Economy Plus on the original flight 990 ($570) but did not get the same on the AF flight. Also: we paid AF $100 for the checked bag when it is free on UAL. Opinions on the likelihood I will be able to get reimbursed on these items?

We were surprised to each receive $500 flight credit for our troubles at United Cares

$15 for a scant pint of organic berries!! NJ grown. Context: former long term Manhattan resident here. I visit 4-5 times per year. Not a hayseed!!! I live in Northern CA now. Equally expensive locale. We pay $16 for 3 pints of organic berries at our farmers market, grown in Central Valley. Is this a supply/demand issue? Transportation costs?? (That seems unlikely to me).

My wife and I completed all the “paperwork” but were unable to secure an interview before departure. We have several future trips so the status will be useful.

We are abroad now and intend to complete the process on arrival. I forgot to bring the documentation showing residence (utility bill, etc.) but have screen shots of these for each of us in the form of a mobile bill and a health insurance premium bill. If I print these out, will they be accepted?

Arrived in France 2 days after the start of billing cycle. < 96 hours later I’ve hit my 15gb limit. I checked acct and it shows about 5gbs a day for the last 4 full days. I don’t get back to the full complement of data until I’m back home in the US.

10 years back, I bailed on Verizon international plan —$10 a day — because the 5gb a day limit got sucked up in 1/2 a day. Almost exclusively navigation (maps etc no streaming). So I got a Vodafone sim with 20 gb data and without changing habits could not use more than 1-2 gbs a day. Which makes me think the metering on data usage is different with the V plan? (Not biting on a $10 for 2 addl ggbs)

Am I on to something? No WiFi during this visit—all data is cellular.

Last visit I used a smallish neighborhood institution (don’t recall name—maybe credit union type?), money not dispensed and card not returned. I entered and was told I’d have to return tomorrow. Not possible for me so I ended up “turning off” the card. Fortunately partner had hers. By smallish I mean single employee. Thanks.

Landed 15 minutes ago. Medical issue with captain. Anyone been through this that knows the general protocols? We were informed there was a weight issue (???). Customs involved (we will not disembark).

California Vehicle Code section 4850 (a):

"The department, upon registering a vehicle, shall issue to the owner two partially or fully reflectorized license plates or devices for a motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, and one partially or fully reflectorized license plate or device for all other vehicles required to be registered under this code. The plates or devices shall identify the vehicles for which they are issued for the period of their validity.

California Vehicle Code section 5200 (a):

"When two license plates are issued by the department for use upon a vehicle, they shall be attached to the vehicle for which they were issued, one in the front and the other in the rear."

Just saw 10+ Teslas on Mill Valley streets; two had front license plates. Same goes for BMWs. Saw fewer of them (5 or 6) but only one had a front plate.

Headed there soon. Friends who were there last summer reported repeated cases of loss of network—phone went to SOS mode. All in the traveling party had iPhone 16s (may have been different models) and one had no problems. And no problems in other countries (Greece, UK, etc.). The international angle on the plan was a real attraction—I hope I don’t regret opting in for it. (Verizon’s solutions: reboot phone, reset network settings. Sometimes worked, sometimes not.)

Flying next week to Italy and wondering how early I need yo leave.

I am traveling to the EU and the UK next month. I am looking at a policy that asks allows you to list one country. Can I assume that coverage would apply to both the EU and the UK if I only list the EU countries?
