Big names (St Germain, Nujabes, Moodymann, berlioz) sitting on the same groove as independent producers you've probably never heard of, not because a playlist bot matched genres, but because they actually fit.

It's not a "chill background jazz" playlist either. It's got groove. Detroit-adjacent house cuts (Galcher Lustwerk, Alton Miller), broken beat/nu-jazz (Portico Quartet, corto.alto), and a lot of French and UK producers blending live horns/keys into house structures. If you're into labels like Local Talk, Razor-N-Tape, or that whole Rhythm Section International sound, this'll probably land.

This one was built for exactly the kind of listening you come here for. Pure Ambient is 9h+ of beatless, slowly evolving soundscapes, the kind of music where a single drone can open up into something vast if you let it.

No percussion, no vocals, no sudden shifts. Just sound that moves like light across a very long distance.

You'll find the pillars (Brian Eno, Biosphere, Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin) alongside deeper, less obvious names that share that same sense of cosmic scale and suspended time. Some tracks feel weightless. Others feel like pressure from very far away.

After years of the same pump-up tracks I switched to contemporary jazz for anything over an hour. Turns out Jrapzz (nu-jazz, jazztronica, UK jazz) works surprisingly well when you're running slow enough to actually think.

300+ tracks, 9K+ listeners, updated regularly. Not for sprints. Definitely for the long ones.

Spent years building a playlist that actually reflects what alternative music sounds like right now.

It started as a personal thing and got out of hand. The core is contemporary: Fontaines D.C., Wet Leg, Kim Gordon, English Teacher, Courtney Barnett, Mannequin Pussy, Lambrini Girls, Goat Girl, Geese, Geordie Greep. Stuff that's pushing the genre forward rather than recycling it.

But there's depth beyond the recognizable names. Maruja, DITZ, Ulrika Spacek, Ugly (UK), Trivial Shields, bands that should be much bigger than they are.

And a few curveballs: Modest Mouse (because Polar Opposites still hits), black midi (because Hellfire belongs on any honest alt playlist), Lola Young (because Wish You Were Dead is one of the best alt tracks of the last two years).

No filler. No obvious Spotify bait. Just music worth your time.

There's also a Japanese project in there (夜はいつでも回転している) with no English name and almost no info online — just found it and it stuck.

Some of it opens wide: Boards of Canada, Oneohtrix Point Never, Glass Beams, Upupayāma. Some of it moves under the surface: DARKSIDE, Tortoise, Wang Wen, Holy Fuck. Some of it hits like a memory you can't place: Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Failure, Arooj Aftab.

There's a Japanese artist in there (夜はいつでも回転している). That one alone is worth finding.

It doesn't stay in one place. Neither should music.
