Best Airline Upgrade Rates?

I have to fly to Paris for work. The company is only paying for economy.

I’m fine to upgrade myself with points or cash. Who typically has the best upgrade options in terms of
cost? I’ve found that upgrades on KLM are typically cheaper than Delta. Is the same true for AirFrance?

Preference for a nonstop between JFK/EWR and CDG but willing to lay over if it means that I’ll have batter upgrade rate.

Thanks for your help!

Does canceling a trip return the travel credit and cashback rewards?

I booked a flight with Delta in the portal and of course the price dropped after the guarantee window ended. I’m now seeing it for $200 less than what I paid.

I want to cancel the trip and rebook using the delta credit, but the problem is $400 came from a combo of the travel credit and some Savor Rewards.

Am I completely out of luck?

Is the travel portal really that bad?

Just booked one leg of an international trip in premium economy with delta. I used the $300 travel credit plus $100 in cashback from the savor to offset a decent part of the ticket.

I see the flight in my delta app with all my info (KTN, sky miles, passport etc)

So I guess I’m wondering what’s the catch? Is this going to blow up on me?

Has anyone actually hooked up with a sailor during fleet week?

We’ve all fantasized about the sailors coming into the city, but has anyone ever gotten one into bed? If so, would love to hear the details 🥵

3rd gen, not 1948, no naturalization and rejected

So, my case was rejected as expected. The judge declined to consider prior intent in my case and gave an outright rejection.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the appeal process? Are we confident? Is there hope left? I’m feeling very defeated.

Battery for Canon Demi EE17

Recently posted about the switch from the Mimy to the EE17. The Canon arrived and it’s beautiful but I am running into an issue with the battery.

I bought a Wein cell MRB265 1.35v but for some reason the battery cover doesn’t close when loading the battery correctly (which I believe is negative side into the camera, positive facing up into the battery cover)

What am I doing wrong?

Maximizing Savor Cashback and VX points

I have a pretty simple setup.

  1. Amex Gold for dining and groceries (and anything where the Rakuten multiplier beats C1 portal)
  2. Savor for streaming, entertainment, and restaurants that don’t take Amex (I travel abroad frequently)
  3. VX for travel and everything else

I have been converting the Savor cash back to points with VentureX. I think it works out to earning more points than using the VX right?

Say concert tickets were $300, I’d get $9 back which converts to 900 points vs if I’d used VX I’d end up with 600 points ($6).

Am I doing that math right? Is there a better use of the cash back? Is the purchase eraser a better use?

Yashica Half Frame Repair

So my film advance on my beloved Mimy finally died. I took it to a shop in NYC and they quoted me $265 when I only paid $100 for the camera in the first place 😭

Any ideas on how to DIY or other affordable repair shops in the city?

Paying off adjustable rate mortgage sooner?

Posted this as a comment but wanted to get more exposure.

We debate a lot around paying off a mortgage early but most of those conversations assume a fixed rate mortgage.

Let’s say you took out a 7/1 ARM around 5.9% on a $550k house because it made the monthly payments work for your budget. You intend to refinance once rates go down between 4-5%. You’re one year through the mortgage.

Given rates don’t seem to be dropping anytime soon, is it advisable to take a portion of the money you’d normally invest every month into VTI and instead put into the principal on the house? Assume you’d put at extra $200 extra a month to the mortgage (roughly one extra mortgage payment a year.)

Thoughts?

Surprisingly good offers experience

I picked this card up a few weeks ago as a catch all thinking I’d use the travel credit and then whatever the Amex Gold or Savor didn’t catch.

I used the offers portal for some shopping with a Walmart and VividSeats. It took a week but got the notifications yesterday that the points hit my account. I was skeptical at first.

And kind of wild to see those points add up so fast. I’ve made 3k points in under a month. Feeling good with this card so far. Let’s see what happens when I use the portal. 🤩

Venice Court allegedly instructed to rule favorably on post DL ATQ cases

TLDR: in light of the recent ruling, Venice has allegedly asked judges to approve post DL ATQ cases likely to avoid clogging the appeals court if there were to be denials.

Calabria Recommendations?

I've spent a lot of time in Italy and have been to the gay hotspots in Milan, Bologna, Sicily, and Puglia. I'm going to Calabria this summer because it looks stunning, though it's not known for being the most gay friendly. I speak Italian so not worried about communicating but looking for recommendations on gay nightlife, beaches, etc.

Judge’s Ruling History

Hey everyone, I just had my judge assigned today (really I had a dream last night where it was assigned so checked first thing when I woke up).

I’m a post DL case in Palermo and understandably am a bit concerned since the Torino challenge was rejected.

Is there a way to check on how a judge has ruled on other JS cases? I want to see how JS-friendly my judge might be. Just looking for a bit of optimism. 🤞

Hi everyone, I thought I had a good setup but after lurking here I realized you all have this figured out way better than I ever could.

Current cards:
Amex Gold - I put the bulk of my spend on this. One, I eat out a lot. And two, i like the flexibility with travel partners. I live near a delta hub so that’s helpful even though I find their points to be worthless. Three, I also value their customer support (my partner has CSR and the experience between Amex and Chase support is night and day). I manage to take advantage of nearly all the credits/offers so this card is effectively free. I’m also stacked with Rakuten and have earned a ton of points that way (jumped on that 30k SoFi offer today!)

Capital One Savor - pretty much all entertainment on this card and if a place doesn’t take Amex.

Capital One VentureOne- don’t really use this, should I?

Chase Freedom Unlimited - don’t really use this, should I?

Amex Delta Blue - downgraded from Platinum after I realized how unusable the companion pass was. I never use it but want to keep the credit history open.

I’m also an authorized user on Bilt Blue, Amex Platinum, and Chase Sapphire Preferred.

But am I doing this right? Should I have a different everyday card? I prioritize travel points vs cash back. I’ve toyed with getting the VentureOne, Citi Strata Elite, or Bilt Palladium.

I have a good job, eat out a few times a week, love to travel, and live in a HCOL city if that changes things at all.

Help me 🫣
